The Butler from Another Planet….

The Butler

By Michael Reagan | Aug 22, 2013 | Townhall.com

There you go again, Hollywood.

You’ve taken a great story about a real person and real events and twisted it into a bunch of lies.

You took the true story of Eugene Allen, the White House butler who served eight presidents from 1952 to 1986, and turned it into a clichéd “message movie.”

“Lee Daniels’ The Butler’” stars Forest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, a fictional character supposedly based on Eugene Allen’s real life.

But let’s compare the two White House butlers.

Guess which one grew up in segregated Virginia, got a job at the White House and rose to become maître d’hôtel, the highest position in White House service?

Guess which one had a happy, quiet life and was married to the same woman for 65 years? And who had one son who served honorably in Vietnam and never made a peep of protest through the pre- and post-civil rights era?

Now guess which butler grew up on a Georgia farm, watched the boss rape his mother and then, when his father protested the rape, watched the boss put a bullet through his father’s head?

Guess which butler feels the pain of America’s racial injustices so deeply that he quits his White House job and joins his son in a protest movement?

And guess which butler has a wife (Oprah Winfrey) who becomes an alcoholic and has a cheap affair with the guy next door? (I’m surprised it wasn’t the vice president.)

After comparing Hollywood’s absurd version of Eugene Allen’s life story with the truth, you wonder why the producers didn’t just call it “The Butler from Another Planet.”

Screenwriter Danny Strong says he was trying to present a “backstage kind of view of the White House” that portrayed presidents and first ladies as they really were in everyday life.

Well, I was backstage at the White House -- a few hundred times. I met and knew the real butler, Mr. Allen, and I knew a little about my father.

Portraying Ronald Reagan as a racist because he was in favor of lifting economic sanctions against South Africa is simplistic and dishonest.

If you knew my father, you’d know he was the last person on Earth you would call a racist.

If Strong had gotten his “facts” from the Reagan biographies, he’d have learned that when my father was playing football at Eureka College one of his best friends was a black teammate.

Strong also would have learned that my father invited black players home for dinner and once, when two players were not allowed to stay in the local hotel, he invited them to stay overnight at his house.

Screenwriter Strong also might have found out that when my father was governor of California he appointed more blacks to positions of power than any of predecessors -- combined.

It’s appalling to me that someone is trying to imply my father was a racist. He and Nancy and the rest of the Reagan family treated Mr. Allen with the utmost respect.

It was Nancy Reagan who invited the butler to dinner – not to work but as guest. And it was my father who promoted Mr. Allen to maître d’hôtel.

The real story of the White House butler doesn’t imply racism at all. It’s simply Hollywood liberals wanting to believe something about my father that was never there.

My father’s position on lifting the South African sanctions in the ‘80s had nothing to do with the narrow issue of race. It had to do with the geopolitics of the Cold War.

But facts don’t matter to Hollywood’s creative propagandists. Truth is too complicated and not dramatic enough for scriptwriters, who think in minute terms, not the big picture, when it comes to a conservative.

Despite what Hollywood’s liberal hacks believe, my father didn’t see people in colors. He saw them as individual Americans. If the liberals in Hollywood -- and Washington -- ever start looking at people the way he did, the country will be a lot better off.

The Butler (Kindle) is (would be) a terrific story that deserves to be told. Too bad it wasn’t told by honest people without political agendas who felt it necessary to use a traitor to portray one of our most beloved first ladies (insulting Vietnam Vets of all colors) and to distort much of history. Perhaps reading Wes Haygood’s book The Butler: A Witness to History would be a better option!?!  Or at least wait until the movie comes to (free) TV, if you watch it knowing the slant and bias the movie is based on.

Bill O'Reilly Absolutely DESTROYS Young Leftist Activist Monica Novoa

Soros's groups including Media Matters and MoveOn.org launched a campaign last week against anyone who calls illegal immigration ‘illegal’ and attempting to categorize using the word illegal as a hate crime… their minions were all over the TV last Thursday and Friday, and some were not only obviously planted but unprepared and uncommitted:

Video: Bill O'Reilly Absolutely DESTROYS Young Leftist Activist Monica Novoa

Monica Novoa told OReilly she was a legal immigrant. But in 2000 she admitted her family crossed into California through a torn border fence, making Monica not only an  ignorant pawn but a liar and an illegal herself as well.

See Latino Studies Become a Central Focus at CSUN:

Monica Novoa, 20, has been with CAUSA for three years and helped push for the new program. Her family left El Salvador in 1982, when federal troops were targeting teachers and other intellectuals for intimidation and slaughter.  Novoa said her father was a teacher and a leftist. When she was 3, coyotes--guides for undocumented immigrants--took the family through Guatemala, Mexico and a torn border fence into California.

Once he arrived in the United States, her father went to school to become an electrician. Her mother got into the real estate business. But like Barrios' parents, Novoa's family rarely discussed their experiences in El Salvador.

"Most of what I knew about El Salvador was from the popular music that I listened to," she said. "One of my favorite lines is from a Victor Jara song where he's saying: 'If the hands that work the soil are the people's, then why doesn't the harvest belong to those who work the land?' "

NEW STUNNING AUDIO: AUTHOR RELEASES INTERVIEWS CAPTURING HOLLYWOOD’S DISDAIN FOR CONSERVATIVES INCLUDING SESAME STREET

lib bias 2

Author Ben Shapiro is working to expose the Hollywood left’s purposeful attempts to promote a liberal political agenda through entertainment mediums.  As we reported yesterday, (See below) left-wing messages are being woven into popular television shows — from kids’ favorite Sesame Street to “must see TV” sitcoms like Friends. But as Shapiro’s new book  “Primetime Propaganda” demonstrates, that’s just the tip of the liberal iceberg.

In videos sent exclusively to The Blaze from Shapiro, more Hollywood liberals openly admit to how their political biases plague today’s entertainment industry.

Is there a literal “blacklist” against conservatives trying to find work in Hollywood?  House creator David Shore says yes:

Video:  Primetime Propaganda: Shore Says Hollywood Discriminates Against Conservatives

Marc Cherry, creator of ABC’s Desperate Housewives weaves a pro-gay agenda into his primetime soap:

Video: Primetime Propaganda: Cherry Pushes Gay Agenda on Desperate Housewives

George Schlatter, creator of Laugh-In, sounds off on conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck. (Hint: it’s not nice):

Video:  Primetime Propaganda: Schlatter Attacks Glenn Beck

In addition to these interview exclusives, the Hollywood Reporter has more:

[Friends co-creator Marta] Kauffman also acknowledges she “put together a staff of mostly liberal people,” which is another major point of Shapiro’s book: that conservatives aren’t welcome in Hollywood.

Maybe that’s because they’re “idiots” and have “medieval minds.” At least that’s what Soap and Golden Girls creator Susan Harris thinks of TV’s conservative critics.  However, the ranks of dumb right-wingers has dwindled, according to Harris, whose video has her saying: “At least, you know, we put Obama in office, and so people, I think, are getting – have gotten – a little bit smarter.”

Some of the videos have executives making rather obvious revelations, like when Larry Gelbart and Gene Reynolds talk about pacifist messages in M*A*S*H or when MacGyver producer Vin Di Bona says anti-gun messages were a recurring theme in that show.

But an additional video has Di Bona, who also created America’s Funniest Home Videos, becoming remarkably blunt about his approval of a lack of political diversity in Hollywood. When Shapiro asks what he thinks of conservative critics who say everyone in Hollywood is liberal, Di Bona responds: “I think it’s probably accurate, and I’m happy about it.”

Another video has Leonard Goldberg — who executive produces Blue Bloods for CBS and a few decades ago exec produced such hits as Fantasy Island, Charlie’s Angels and Starsky and Hutch — saying that liberalism in the TV industry is “100 percent dominant, and anyone who denies it is kidding, or not telling the truth.”  Shapiro asks if politics are a barrier to entry. “Absolutely,” Goldberg says.

When Shapiro tells Fred Pierce, the president of ABC in the 1980s who was instrumental in Disney’s acquisition of ESPN, that “It’s very difficult for people who are politically conservative to break in” to television, he responds: “I can’t argue that point.” Those who don’t lean left, he says, “don’t promote it. It stays underground.” …

In the book, subtitled “The true Hollywood story of how the left took over your TV,” Shapiro also tells anecdotes of bias against conservatives. One example is Dwight Schultz, best known for his roles as Murdock in The A-Team and Barclay in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The late Bruce Paltrow knew that Schultz was a fan of President Ronald Reagan. When Schultz showed up to audition for St. Elsewhere, a show Paltrow produced, to read for the part of Fiscus, Paltrow told him: “There’s not going to be a Reagan a**h*** on this show!” The part went to Howie Mandel.

IS SESAME STREET SPREADING LEFT-WING PROPAGANDA? EXEC ADMITS, YES

While the theme song to the kids show Sesame Street encourages people to ask how to get there, one author just finished an expose exploring what’s really in the popular show: left-wing propaganda.

Sesame Street, with its loveable and fuzzy characters, is really a mouthpiece for the left’s agenda. That’s the conclusion of author Ben Shapiro, who after interviewing hundreds of industry insiders found that many of Hollywood’s most popular shows, including the popular kids program, are inundated with secret political messages. And he got top executives to admit it.

Shapiro’s new book, “Primetime Propaganda”: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV,” according to it’s description “is the story—told in their own words—of how television has been used over the past sixty years by Hollywood writers, producers, actors, and executives to promote their liberal ideals, to push the envelope on social and political issues, and to shape America in their own leftist image.”

For example, Shapiro quotes Mike Dann, one of Sesame Street’s founding executives, saying it “was not made for the sophisticated or the middle class.” Using the premise, the team worked in all sorts of messages, including Grover breaking bread with a hippie and Oscar the grouch who was supposed to address “conflicts arising from racial and ethnic diversity.” Dann also admitted he used the program in the wake of 9/11 to highlight peaceful alternatives to war.

“Sesame Street tried to tackle divorce, tackled ‘peaceful conflict resolution’ in the aftermath of 9/11 and had [gay actor] Neil Patrick Harris on the show playing the subtly-named ‘fairy shoeperson’,” writes Shapiro, according to THR.

The news may not be surprising considering the left‘s recent use of the show’s cuddly character, Elmo. The furry, red puppet has been used to trumpet free internet, lament job loss, and even plug Michelle Obama’s child nutrition bill.

But the left-wing messages aren‘t limited to children’s programs. Adults are inundated, too. The Independent explains:

The TV series Friends undermined family values; Sesame Street taught ethnic minorities about civil disobedience; Happy Days had a subtle anti-Vietnam subtext; and the 1980s cop show MacGyver tried to persuade pistol-packing Americans that guns are bad.

Happy Days? Friends? Believe it. Shapiro even got Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman to own up to intentionally hiring liberals and sending a strong message to conservatives in a popular episode:

Among Shapiro’s most revelatory interviewees is Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of Friends, who recalls how she hired a “bunch of liberals” to run the programme to “put out there what we believe”. In 1999, she admitted casting the actress sister of Newt Gingrich, the prominent Republican, to play a preacher at a lesbian wedding because she wanted to annoy conservatives.

“When we did the lesbian wedding, we knew there was going to be some flack,” said Kauffman. “I have to say, when we cast Candice Gingrich as the minister of that wedding, there was a bit of a ‘fu** you’ in it to the right-wing, directly.”

So how did Shapiro get these executives to say such things on record. According to him, he took advantage of liberal stereotypes.

“There was a certain amount of stereotyping on their part in granting the interview,” he told the Independent. “Many probably assumed that with a name like Shapiro and a Harvard Law credential, there was no need to Google me: I would have to be a leftist. In Hollywood, talking to a Jew with a Harvard Law baseball cap is like talking to someone wearing an Obama pin.”

“I was shocked by the openness of the Hollywood crowd when it came to admitting anti-conservative discrimination inside the industry,” he told the paper. “They weren’t ashamed of it. In fact, some were actually proud of it.”

Senator Edward Moore Kennedy Succumbs to Cancer at Age 77

082609_kennedyobit

April 21: Senator Ted Kennedy is seen at a ceremony where President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, in Washington. (Reuters)

Ted Kennedy, known as the Lion of the Senate, died about 30 minutes ago, losing his battle with brain cancer. It is time for us all to put our differences aside for a few days and remember Ted for his service to his Country.

The family gave the following statement:

“We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever,” the Kennedy family said in a statement. “He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it.”

Senator Edward M. Kennedy, known as Ted or Teddy, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in May 2008 and underwent a successful brain surgery soon after that. But his health continued to deteriorate, and Kennedy suffered a seizure while attending the luncheon following President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

Ted was the youngest of the Kennedy Children and the only one of four sons to live past middle age. Only one sister survives, Jean Smith. His older sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver just preceded him in death, passing away last week at age 88.

Senator Edward Moore Kennedy, the youngest Kennedy brother who was left to head the family’s political dynasty after his brothers President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated.

Ted threw his hat into the ring for the 1980 presidential race, but lost to Jimmy Carter. He went on to build his legacy in the United Stares Senate, serving from 1962 to present.

His personal life was filled with tragedy and turmoil: the violent deaths of his brothers Jack and Bobby; other family tragedies, the Mary Jo Kopeckne incident that tainted his character for life, problems with alcohol, a difficult divorce, his two sons battle with cancer, a nephew accused of murder and his nephew John F. Kennedy Jr’s tragic death. His marriage to his second wife, Victoria Anne Reggie, seems to have been his personal salvation and greatest time of happiness.

He supported Barack Obama for President in the last election and was involved in helping to find the first family’s dog, Bo. For Kennedy, the ascension of Obama was an important step toward realizing his goal of health care reform.

At the Democratic National Convention in August 2008, the Massachusetts Democrat promised, “I pledge to you that I will be there next January on the floor of the United States Senate when we begin the great test.” Senator Kennedy made good on that pledge, but ultimately lost his battle with cancer.

Kennedy championed health care reform, working wages and equal rights in his storied career. In August, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom — the nation’s highest civilian honor — by President Obama. His daughter, Kara Kennedy, accepted the award on his behalf.

Teddy… Dead at 77.

Fox News Reports:

Ted Kennedy, Senate Lion and Liberal Champion, Dies

The Massachusetts Democrat was seen by many as an American version of a Greek tragedy as his personal tragedies along with his professional triumphs and losses unfolded in the public eye

Sen. Edward Kennedy, the longtime, beloved lawmaker whose personal tragedies along with his professional triumphs and losses unfolded in the public eye, has died of brain cancer. He was 77.

The Massachusetts Democrat was seen by many as an American version of a Greek tragedy. Born into political royalty, Kennedy's triumphs were often overshadowed by those of his brothers, John and Bobby Kennedy. But nonetheless, the younger Kennedy carved his own political legacy as one of the longest serving senators in U.S. history.

Click here for a timeline of Ted Kennedy's life.

The youngest of the nine-sibling Kennedy clan, Teddy had much of his path paved by famous older brothers and father. That created problems as well as opportunities for him.

As a member of a roving family, Kennedy moved around a lot in his youth and made friends easily. He attended Harvard in 1951, playing on the freshman football team before he was caught cheating by having a friend take his Spanish language exam.

Kennedy was expelled and entered the Army, where he served in Paris during the Korean War. and after almost two years was re-admitted to Harvard for demonstrating good behavior.

He went on to get a law degree from the University of Virginia Law School and served as an assistant D.A in Suffolk County, Mass. He married Virginia Joan Bennett, who was introduced to him by his sister Jean. They had three children, the youngest was Patrick, who also would enter public office.

When John Kennedy was elected to the presidency in 1960, it appeared the Kennedy clan had the makings of a political dynasty. At the time, Robert Kennedy was attorney general and Teddy, as he was affectionately known, was elected to the Senate in 1962.

But Kennedy soon found himself alone on the political stage after his brothers were killed by assassins in 1963 and 1968.

Shouldering the burden of a grieving family, Kennedy delivered Bobby's eulogy at New York's Saint Patrick's Cathedral in 1968, attributing to Robert a quote by Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw: "Some men see things as they are and say 'why.' I dream things that never were and say 'why not.'"

He added: "Those of us who loved him and who take him to his rest today pray that what he was to us, and what he wished for others will someday come to pass for all the world."

But Kennedy's own aspirations for the White House were dashed in 1969 when his car plunged off a bridge on Chappaquiddick on Martha's Vineyard, killing Robert Kennedy campaign aide Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy swam to safety and only alerted authorities to the accident hours later.

As Kopechne's body was pulled from the dark sedan, the senator told investigators he panicked.

"That tragedy will live with me for the rest of my life...every day for the rest of my life," he said.

An investigation later absolved Kennedy of responsibility. He received two months suspended jail time for leaving the scene of an accident, but questions about his character would follow him and haunt his political ambitions for the nation's highest office.

Despite the Chappaquiddick incident, Kennedy decided to throw his hat into the 1980 presidential race, going up against incumbent Democrat Jimmy Carter. Kennedy lost his bid for the White House and returned to the Senate -- becoming the lion of the liberal left.

Like his first wife, Joan, Kennedy also struggled with alcohol, and through much of the 1980s was viewed as a playboy with a bottle. That image culminated with the arrest of his nephew, William Kennedy Smith, who was later acquitted on charges of raping a woman he met at a bar while out with his uncle. It also hurt his ability to fight the Supreme Court nomination of Clarence Thomas over allegations of harassment by former Thomas aide Anita Hill.

Kennedy credited his second wife Victoria Anne Reggie with turning him around and redirecting him back to his political career and liberal agenda.

Kennedy served as an ardent supporter for other Democrats seeking the presidency and endorsed Barack Obama early in his campaign -- comparing the Illinois senator with his late brother, John.

At times, it seemed Kennedy and his abundant energy would last for years. But last May, he suffered a seizure at his Cape Cod home and was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

Kennedy stayed active for as long as he could after his diagnosis, offering a key address in support of Obama during the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August 2008. He also attended Obama's presidential inauguration, where he had to be taken away in a stretcher.

Though he was absent from the Senate for much of President Obama's first year, his name was attached to health care legislation, penned a widely read op-ed in support of health care reform and was a critical vote on several piece of legislation.

Kennedy was too ill to attend his sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver's funeral or to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom bestowed upon him by President Obama, both in in August 2009.

FOX News' Molly Line contributed to this report

Dick Morris said, "It was great having Ted Kennedy, one committed liberal who never really changed in 50-years. It gives you a reference point, like North on the compass. With Ted, you always knew what was dead left."

An Open Letter to President Obama From Lou Pritchett, a former Vice President of Proctor & Gamble...

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America, and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and "class," always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the "blame America" crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer "wind mills" to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use "extortion" tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Actor Jon Voight: Obama is a disaster

June 10, 2009 - 10:51 ET

Jon Voight

GLENN: From Radio City in Midtown Manhattan, this is the third most listened to show in all of America. Hello, you sick twisted freak. Welcome to the program. I've got a lot for you today. We're going to go right to Jon Voight who is, you know, the big Hollywood actor and friend of the program. Hi, John, how are you?

VOIGHT: Hey, Glenn.

GLENN: So what are you doing, man? What, are you crazy? Saying that Barack Obama is a false prophet?

VOIGHT: Yeah, well, somebody's got to say it, Glenn.

GLENN: It's good not to be alone. It's good not to be alone.

VOIGHT: Well, you know, very important. Very important that people speak out because we're already in real trouble.

GLENN: You said at this big Republican fundraiser that Barack Obama is going to cause the downfall of the country.

VOIGHT: Uh huh.

GLENN: What do you mean by that?

VOIGHT: Well, I mean, you can see the evidence already. I mean, take a look at the unemployment figures, you know. They said they were going to top out at 8, you know, 8% and it's already up to 9.4%. And then, of course, as I said in a speech when they send Joe Biden out who is one of the great double talkers of our time, I said, who gives you a report that everything's fine and the figures are going in the other direction. But the fact is we're in real trouble.

GLENN: Have you been following what the Supreme Court did yesterday, they let this Chrysler deal go through, where we have abandoned our free market principles. I mean, George Bush said I've got to save the country by abandoning the country or the free market system, but this really is. Now we have abandoned the rule of law and who is going to be first in line with the bondholders, et cetera, et cetera. And John, last night I was watching the news unfold and I thought, we are headed towards all of the things that we've been talking about, that people have been saying for two, three years: Oh, Glenn, you're crazy, this is nuts. We're headed there. John, what is it going to take for people to wake up and say, we've got to stop going down this road?

VOIGHT: Yeah. Well, one really worries when people are going to wake up, they are so wed, the media generally is so wed to this liberal agenda and to backing up, you know, the hysteria that they got into in supporting Obama and brick him to the presidency. So they are going to hold onto that. But really you worry, you fear that something very staggering is going to have to happen. But it's already happening, Glenn. You just have to look at the evidence. We're in real trouble. And the answer continuously for Obama is to make another speech, to appeal to his, you know, to find out what people want, put it all in a speech, put it out to as many people as possible and that's his idea of governing the country.

GLENN: Are you more concerned about the economy and spending or are you more concerned about, for instance, the Middle East and Israel?

VOIGHT: Well, I'm concerned about all of that but I really, I'm really concerned about Israel. His attitude toward Israel really reveals that he knows nothing but the history of Israel and its importance to the United States. He spoke at Cairo University in a speech on June 4th and then he said there will be no dictating to other countries, you know, only forging partnerships and yet he certainly dictates to Israel to freeze all settlement activity which, you know, means no natural growth and that means strangling these towns to death, these thriving towns close to the 1949 armistice line that everybody, every negotiation over the past decade has envisioned Israel retaining. So he's really destroying their ability to negotiate and to give and recommending that Israel gives more land away. Hasn't he understood that every time Israel has given land in order to secure peace that all of the response has only been violence? Hasn't he understood all of this? That Gaza has attacked Israel, they gave Gaza as a peace gesture and, you know, Hamas has used it to attack the south of Israel? It's one wonders where he gets his information from and what his point of view is.

GLENN: John, why you're awfully passionate about Israel. I am as well.

VOIGHT: I am indeed, yeah.

GLENN: Why?

VOIGHT: Well

GLENN: Because there's a lot of people that will say, geez, these people having warring for 5,000 years, why should we even get involved? Why should we even care?
VOIGHT: Well, you know, certainly they are arguably our greatest ally in the world. We depend on their intelligence. We depend, we're very tied to them, and they are the only democracy in that part of the world. And there are other aspects as well. But when we look at, you know, what Hitler said, Hitler in Mein Kampf laid it all out, didn't he? There are some people who read Mein Kampf. Winston Churchill said, you know, they said, well, how did you know? He said, well, I read his book.

GLENN: Yeah.

VOIGHT: Well, we have heard Ahmadinejad and the Imam speak from Iran, wipe Israel from the geography of the land, from time. Israel is going to die they say. Aren't we listening? Are we taking them seriously or not?

You know, it's funny that you bring this up today because I was just meeting with the writers for television earlier this morning and I said this is where I'm headed today. And it's that very point. I was driving in this morning and I'm hearing all of the news and I keep seeing these signposts pass. Nobody has everybody is in denial on everything.

VOIGHT: Yeah.

GLENN: They are, "Oh, well, we're going to be able to grow our way out of it. Well, we'll have to spend some money temporarily here. Well, we can just make friends with these people and we are denying everything that people are actually telling us. Somebody said it was Gretchen Carlson from Fox News who I adore. She is going to be on later. She was on yesterday's show and she said, you know, Obama never said he would do these things. I said, yes, he has. Yes, he has. Nobody wants to say that the man is a Marxist. Okay, so he's not a Marxist. He's a progressive! This is semantics.

VOIGHT: Yes, it is.

GLENN: If you go back and you read what they said. What they said they were going to do in the early 20th century which Hillary Clinton in her own campaign speech said, you know, "I'm an early 20th century American progressive." If you read what they said they were going to do, they're doing it right now, and I feel like I read Mein Kampf as well, and when I read Mein Kampf, I read it because I wanted to know, did the German people know. Yes! Yes, they knew. Unless they were like, "Oh, well, no, he doesn't mean that," which is exactly what we're doing now. Everybody's just saying, "Well, no, they don't... Ahmadinejad really doesn't mean that." Or, "He's really not going to actually destroy the free market system." Yes, he is. Yes, he is.

VOIGHT: Oh, yes.

GLENN: So how do you wake people up, John?

VOIGHT: I don't know. I'm doing my best and you're doing your best for sure, Glenn. It really is frightening. I mean, when Obama says you don't know if you're hearing properly when he says that Iran is perhaps entitled to nuclear power. And after all of these statements.

GLENN: Yet we're not.

VOIGHT: We're seeing him head down this road. And you say, well, wait, we'll check in December and see how far it's gotten. It's so alarming, it's quite it's almost unbelievable that we're witnessing this kind of behavior.

GLENN: John, what is your life like

VOIGHT: Pretty good.

GLENN: Because you are in you're in the hornet's nest. You might as well just be covered in the honey.

VOIGHT: Well, you know, as I said in my speech and by the way, you know, it took me time to make a statement. I watched everything. But it's really, things are disastrous. Right now they are disastrous. Every move he's made has failed, and we're headed down this socialist road while, of course, you look at Europe. They have dipped their toe in it and they are turning around saying this is a dead end, this is disaster. And they are turning around and coming back. All of the elections in Europe now are returning conservatives to the seats and saying we don't want to go down that road

SPEAKER: I talked to a couple of experts on the progressive movement. I'm, I'm strangely making geek friendships with all these historians because I'm fascinated by the progressive movement because it's the roadmap for tomorrow. You will see your future. If you read the past, you will see the future. And they both said to me, you want to see our future; you look at Europe. There's no birthrates the birthrates, they're breeding themselves into extinction over in Europe. There's no religion over there. It's all dead religion. The healthcare is an absolute mess, the government's a mess. It's a world of political correctness where you can't say anything anymore. That's our future

SPEAKER: Yeah. Well, that's the situation here, no matter what Obama does. He's protected. Everything he does, no matter what they do or say, they're totally protected. Look at the black panthers in Philadelphia standing by the polling booths with, you know, with sticks. And they get away with it. With ACORN what ACORN has done, they are under indictment in 12 states for fraud. That's how he came in, under the back of a fraudulent behavior. And he gets away with it. No one's saying anything here. Everyone's covering because of their, you know, fastened to this liberal agenda which has proven to be a failure.

GLENN: There's a few people that are speaking out, there are a few. There's people like you, there's people like me, there are a few on television and radio that I think get it. Many people are still playing politics. When you were in this, when you were at this Republican fundraiser, you think they get it yet, John? Really get it?
Well, from the people I've spoken to, I think people are getting clearer and clearer, and I think this goes to the independent people and even people on the Democratic side. And I certainly, when I'm speaking, I'm hoping people are listening across the country, every citizen. We have to abandon this political correctness and start telling the truth. You know, people try to paint people like myself and you as, you know, rightwing looneys or something, you know. Whereas we're really speaking, most of the stuff we talk about, Glenn, is really actually classical liberalism.
GLENN: I know it is.

VOIGHT: Represented by Thomas Jefferson.

GLENN: It's freedom.

VOIGHT: And if we really want the answers, they have already been written. There's a document called the Constitution that's pretty well written. And if we can just go back to that and we can go back to the philosophy of the founding fathers, we've got a pretty good compass.

GLENN: Let me take you back full circle then at the beginning of the conversation. We had the Supreme Court yesterday pass on a case. Now, I have not heard. I've got a couple of people that are checking for me to see if we can get any inside sources. Maybe it's because they said this isn't the right case to overturn all of this nonsense, but they passed on it. There's no way to read what our government is doing as anything but hostile to the Constitution. You can't do what they've done with the GM and Chrysler deal, taking people out of line and playing right directly to special interests, special interests. I mean, you know, forget about the bondholders even. America, you bailed these people out against your will. Your representatives bailed them out and then they put the unions and the special interests ahead of even you getting your money back. They got double they got, what is it, 50 something cents on the dollar? What did we get? 24 cents on the dollar? Excuse me. I busted my ass and I have nothing to do with those companies. How come I'm paying? How come the average person is paying for that right now? It doesn't make any sense.

VOIGHT: Of course. So that's why the tea parties erupted. Because people are starting to get it, Glenn. They understand that this is

GLENN: Are you seeing anybody in Hollywood? And you don't have to name names. Are you seeing people in Hollywood waking up or more people willing to come to the table? I had a

VOIGHT: Yes, I do think more and more are I think those people who have been paying attention to it and understand are more willing to step out and I think that people are, you know, the, you know, their eyes are starting to see finally little by little what's going on. And they end up being confronted with questions. So let's see what happens. And obviously we're trying to there are many people out there that are speaking very eloquently and I listed a whole bunch of them at the speech. I don't know if you saw the entire speech at the convention.

GLENN: I didn't.

VOIGHT: At the House Senate dinner. But I mentioned your name, by the way. And I went through a whole litany of all the guys who are really

GLENN: What, are you crazy? I mean, you don't want to

VOIGHT: I want to be aligned with you, Glenn. Glenn Beck, I want them to

GLENN: I'm telling you, there will be a knock on the door and you'll say, "I don't know him. I swear to you I don't know him." John, it is good to be with you and talking to you. Thank you for everything that you've done.

VOIGHT: Thanks, Glenn. Thank you, too.

GLENN: You bet. We'll talk again.

VOIGHT: God bless.

GLENN: Jon Voight who is I think one of the only normal people in Hollywood and that's saying something, isn't it?
