Happy Birthday, President Reagan

Today marks the birthday of Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th president of the United States of America.

Joshua Pundit:

Reagan became president when the United States was in a period of great stress, just after the tenure of Jimmy Carter. Inflation and interest rates were in double digits and unemployment was close to 7%, taxes were at an all time high, America's foreign policy and international prestige were reeling from the Iranian hostage crisis, severe cutbacks in defense and successful Soviet penetration all over the world.

Worse than that, Americans seemed to have lost confidence in themselves and in the country's greatness.

Reagan squared his shoulders, rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He cut government, cut taxes, and oversaw the creation of 16 million new jobs and economic growth at 3.5 % per year. He rebuilt America's military. He was unafraid to call the Soviet Union an evil empire, or to challenge them directly so that their evil empire crumpled into the dust of history.

He left America safer, stronger and wealthier than it was when he came, which is the most you can ask of a president. In simple terms, he was a singularly decent man who honored both himself and the nation he served.

He gave us confidence in ourselves again, reminded us of who we are and that we are a country singularly blessed by G-d's providence. He inspired us as a nation. And he did it with grace, charm, wit and style, and with a sunny optimism that reached out to the best in us.

If ever a president deserved a national holiday to honor him, President Reagan does.

He was by no means perfect, as he would doubtless be the first to say. But in Ronald Reagan, we have an example of what real leadership is, an example especially needed today.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President...We Miss You!!!

** And let us remember this conservative yet practical leader in the upcoming elections of 2014 and 2016.  Reagan's old and proven formula was to unite behind the most conservative and principled candidate(s) available, and to make sure he or she knew that 2-years, let alone 10-months, isn't that far away. It won't be perfect, but it will even put RINO’s who survive on notice that times have changed!!

Reagan at His Best…

The Tale of Two Women and the Choice in the Battle for America’s Soul and Future

Palin:  “We Are Not Here to Save a Party… We Are Here to Save a Nation”

Ghosts of Benghazi

Hillary:  “What Difference Does It Make?”

When Questioned About the Events Leading Up to the Death of Our Ambassador and 3-Other Brave Heroes in Benghazi Under Her Watch

By Marion Algier – Ask Marion

If you believe everything you read, Hillary Clinton is already President of the United States-in-waiting and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ‘was’ the GOP’s predestined 2016 nominee. Does this sound like 2012 or 2008 all over again?

But what is true is that the jockeying for the 2016 Election is in full swing. The Democrat strategy is to intimidate and sideline, by any means, any Democrat opposition to Hillary Clinton for the primaries while attacking and obliterating any Republicans that they feel could give her a strong challenge in the general election; Chris Christie is only the beginning and Sarah Palin, probably the one they fear the most has been on their radar screen since she gave her 2008 Vice Presidential nomination acceptance speech. The folks, as O’Reilly likes to call average everyday American, of which Palin is one, loved her immediately and she inspired women on both sides of the aisle, including political convert and lifetime Democrat, the Los Angeles President of the National Organization for Women (NOW) who introduced Palin for her first Rally in Cali in Carson City where a crowd of 23,000 gathered, that I was privileged to attend, with a last minute announcement… so the Progressive  left immediately feared and hated her. You can bet that Hillary does not draw that kind of a crowd for her speeches!

Video: C-SPAN: Vice Presidential Candidate Gov. Sarah Palin (AK) Full Speech at the RNC (45:45 Mins)

The left knew how much of a threat Sarah Palin was, and is, and colluded to demonize her using their progressive minions in the mainstream media with instructions to use any and every dirty trick in their bag of Alinsky tricks… already knowing that they would be running Hillary Clinton in 2016 and that Sarah Palin another tough woman but younger, prettier, principled and by then tested by the fire created by them, who had real accomplishments both personal and professional would be the Republican’s best shot to beat her… that is if common sense could get past the GOP party establishment that strangled the party in 2008 and 2012. The Progressives organized a group of jour’no’lists including CFR operative Katie Couric to go after Palin and a created what is commonly know as Palin Derangement Syndrome… which still continues.

Video: "The Undefeated" Sarah Palin Movie Trailer (1:46 Mins)

So the question is… can the Republicans get past their own establishment that strangled their party in 2008 and 2012, which includes their chairman Reince Priebus? The Vichy Republicans or old GOP guard are desperately trying to hold onto their own power instead of listening to their base and the grassroots swell of Americans that Sarah Palin and those she helped get into office in 2010 and 2014 represent, those like Ted Cruz, a great VP choice, who call her the Kingmaker. RNC Chairman Priebus Did Say that a Hillary’s 2016 Candidacy is Set… And Electing a Female Presidency Will be the Carrot…, but somehow he doesn’t seem to be able to make the needed and obvious connection that Palin is the GOP’s strongest shot in 2016. In a recent Poll: Sarah Palin Again Had the Highest Favorability Rating Among GOP Primary Voters and the President of the Heritage Foundation and Former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint recently stated that there is no better endorsement a Conservative, Republican, Independent or Libertarian can get than one from Sarah Palin and CNN reported that Palin’s influence is far from diminishing.  That is not necessarily the case for an endorsement by Hillary for Democrats, let alone for an Independent.

The Republicans are moving their 2016 Convention back to June or July from late August to give their candidate access to campaign funds and the RNC staff earlier.  They are also cutting back on the number of primary debates after they helped slaughter themselves in 2012 with their former schedule and by trying to marginalize people like Sarah Palin and that ever-growing wing of the Party and of the population in general. Just today Rush Limbaugh put forth the theory that republicans want to win the 2014 Election narrowly (if at all), without the Tea Party.  Why you wonder?  The why is because the powers that be and the establishment politicians want to keep the system in place, which puts money in their pockets.  That is how they keep everyone inline, or at least did until the rise of the Tea Party (Taxed Enough Already). It is a system that the Clintons are part of, but a system that Sarah Palin would expose and stop, as she did with the Corrupt Bastard’s Club in Alaska.

Every American should educate themselves about Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, because what you think you know, if it is through the mainstream media, is probably wrong about both of them!  It is time for all Americans to clear their mind of any previous pre-conceptions about these two women and start anew in their education process.

2016 should be the battle between these two women… Sarah Palin vs. Hillary Clinton:

Mark Levin, former sisties radical turned conservative and Soros disciple David Horowitz, and many others have said that Hillary is Obama in a dress.

VIDEO: HILLARY CLINTON EXPOSED - THE MOVIE SHE BANNED FROM THEATERS  -  (90-Mins)

In a recent interview, Former Clinton WH Counsel Lanny Davis Struggled to List Hillary’s Achievements at the State Dept and former Clinton advisor Dick Morris has little good to say about his experience with the Former First Lady.

Sadly when asked, most people who claim they dislike Sarah Palin know little about her and what they know is usually negative and generally untrue; for Hillary it is generally the opposite, they often don’t know why they like her either, but it is what they don’t know or think about Hillary or what they think are her positives that are the issue.  So, directly below are some basic facts about Sarah Palin and there is a a lot of info in this article, especially the links to give everyone a good start on researching these two women and possible 2016 presidential candidates:

Us For Palin

I just finished Sarah Takes on Big Oil, by Kay Cashman and Kristen Nelson. One of the major things I liked about the book, is that outsiders without an agenda wrote it. They were unbiased and just wrote the facts. I recommend that you all read this book.

As you read Sarah Takes on Big Oil, you will see what we have all been writing about and why we stand with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Tom Irwin, Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources who is quoted in the book said it best. “She is a real leader, our governor is grounded in a fundamental of honesty, integrity, her faith and understanding of the Constitution. I’ve never seen her once, ever, come close to the bright line of wanting to violate those.”

As you read through Sarah Takes on Big Oil you’ll see other comments by Irwin, that let you know Gov. Palin has not changed as she fights to bring the Republican party back to where it stood when Reagan was President. “I am a conservative Republican. I sometimes wonder where my party has gone, but my governor, Sarah Palin, is bringing it back,” Irwin said.

You will read about how Gov. Palin worked with people on both sides of the aisle. She did not care whether you had a D or an R after your name. Gov. Palin’s job and mindset was to get and do the best for the people of Alaska. After the debating and passing the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA), Rep. Beth Kerttula, D-Juneau, the House minority leader, thanked Gov. Palin for her leadership, for “all of your hard work and your willingness to listen to us and to keep your door open right up until late last night. I really appreciate it as do the members of my caucus.”

The book is written like a case study, with all the needed information so that you will understand what Gov. Palin accomplished, how she worked as part of the team, but as Irwin said, “she was a leader, she allowed us to feel we worked; but make no doubt about it, she understood it and she was the decision maker.”

As I read Sarah Takes on Big Oil, I thought, that is what we all see and feel about the lady from the North. We see her integrity, we see her honesty, we know her faith. This is a lady who would have made an outstanding Vice President – oh, and a great president at which we still have a chance!

Hillary 2016 Melting Away

New Poll: Voters blame Clinton and Obama for Benghazi…  and we now know that Clinton could have prevented the attack but failed to do so

And for those not familiar with the Benghazi scandal and Hillary’s involvement checkout: Bombshell: Pentagon ‘didn’t know’ Benghazi annex existed, which includes a timeline of links to related articles from day one.

And let us not forget Jerry Zeifman, a longtime Democrat, former general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee’s response to why he fired Hillary Clinton from the Watergate Investigation: “Because she was liar!”, he said.  “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer.  She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the Committee and the rules of confidentiality!”  Progressivism at its best!

Video: YouTube Debate: “Hillary Are You a Liberal"?… “I prefer the word Progressive…I Consider myself a modern Progressive”

So again beside trying to obliterate every opponent by using whatever means necessary (legal, questionable, and illegal) and Protecting Hillary… at every turn to pave the way for an easy Hillary win in both the primaries and the general election, the Democrats intend to make the focus of the 2016 election about their fabricated ‘war on women’ (by the Republicans) and electing the first U.S. female president. So logic would dictate that the Republicans fight back with on an equal playing field with a worthy opponent… the strongest battle proven women in the Republican Party… Sarah Palin. So where is the the breakdown in the party’s ability to make that connection if they really want to win? Like the Democrats, the GOP was well as freedom loving Independents, Libertarians, Conservatives and unaffiliated voters who see the need for real change should be supporting and protecting Sarah Palin as the Democrats are doing for Hillary.  Instead they are helping to continue to undermine her, the Republican Party and America… For those who either don’t or choose not to remember McCain-Palin were ahead in the polls after Palin joined the ticket, Greta Van Susteren pulled out the old polls. Get-Involved my friends and educate yourself… and then get out there, stand-up and share!!

Conservatism on the Rise

By Marion Algier – Ask Marion

Just hours after the latest temporary Washington ‘can kicking’ settlement of our budget and debt negotiations, ending the shutdown and averting the most recent contrived Obama administration crisis, the President took the opportunity to scold congressional Republicans on Thursday, stating that Americans are completely fed-up with Washington… as if it does not include him!  But then he called on his opponents to help repair the economic damage… caused by this administration’s endless spending and crisis type management-style. Yet to hear Obama and the Progressive Democrats on the Hill, it is somehow all the Republican’s doing, a scenario that is becoming tougher and tougher to sell!

The New York Post:  Top Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett -- dubbed "The Night Stalker" by some staff because of her close ties to the First Family -- has been called the "architect" of the recent government shutdown showdown, claims author Edward Klein.

Obama adviser ‘architect’ of showdown: author

President Obama’s top adviser Valerie Jarrett was behind a plan to force a showdown with Republicans over ObamaCare as part of a strategy to regain Democratic control of the House next year, claims author Ed Klein.

Klein — who wrote a provocative biography about Obama last year entitled “The Amateur (Kindle)” — said White House insiders refer to Jarrett as “The Night Stalker” because she is the only presidential aide who frequently spends time in the family quarters and dines with the Obamas.

Klein, who is conducting a research for a new Obama tome scheduled for next spring, called Jarrett the “architect” of Obama’s take-no- prisoners approach when it comes to his signature domestic policy initiative.

It was Jarrett who advised Obama that voters would mostly blame Republicans if the federal government ground to a halt, providing a golden opportunity to swing back control of the House to Democrats in the 2014 mid-term elections, according to Klein.

A Democratic House would give Obama an opportunity to pass immigration and other legislation blocked by the current Republican majority.

“It was during one of those nightly sessions that Jarrett devised the no-negotiating strategy that Obama has employed in his fight with the GOP over the government shutdown,” Klein said, citing sources within the administration.

“Valerie came up with the concept late at night, after the kids and grandma and were gone.”

“She convinced the president that a government shutdown and default offered a great opportunity to demonize the Republicans and help the Democrats win back a majority in the House of Representatives in 2014 .

. . Valerie also came with the idea of using the words `hostage’, and `ransom,’ and `terrorists’ against the Republicans,’” Klein said.

Jarrett, who like the Obamas hails from Chicago, has deep ties to the president, First Lady Michelle and the extended family.

“Everyone in the Beltway knew Valerie Jarrett was influential. They didn’t know how influential she was,” said Klein, who interviewed more than a half dozen White House and former presidential advisers about the shutdown strategy.

“Her power derived from one simple fact — proximity, No one except Michelle Obama is closer to the president than Valerie,” Klein quoted Democratic power broker Vernon Jordan as saying. Jordan’s wife is a cousin of Jarrett.

Jarrett is the one who advised Obama “do not cooperate one iota on ObamaCare. Don’t given an inch. Let the Republicans stew in their own juice,“ Klein said.

“The Republicans walked into a trap set up by Valerie Jarrett and President Obama, The Republicans are in an untenable position,” he added.

Klein said Jarrett is the conscience of the administration, “the keeper of the flame” who reminds Obama why he wanted to become president.  (Some would say that Jarrett is the defacto president…)

“The government shutdown is about protecting ObamaCare, yes. But it’s much larger than that. It’s about the 2014 House elections,” said Klein.

The White House had no immediate comment.

Governor Sarah Palin joined Megyn Kelly later in the day on Thursday to say that conservatism is on the rise and more energized than ever:

Video: Gov. Palin joins Megyn Kelly on the Kelly File 10-17-2013

Klein is correct in his assertion that it is all about the 2014 Election and everyone on both sides realizes that 2014 could be the last stand election for conservative principles and will definitely lay the groundwork for 2016, so Palin is correct when she says that conservatives are energized.  This is the moment in time for Americans to choose and take action. And regardless of the negative spin being promoted by the White House, many Americans took a deeper look at what was really going on in Washington because of the efforts of conservatives like Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul, Governor Sarah Palin and the tea party coalition in the House. Surprise analysis also shows that all 50 states are actually shifting toward conservatism?!?

Governor Palin is freshly off a campaign swing for Steve Lonegan, followed by a swing through Washington D.C. to support the veterans who had been blocked from the memorials during the shutdown. Lonegan lost to Democrat Cory Booker on Wednesday, to fill the vacated Senate seat in New Jersey, but at a closer glance, it really was a victory for conservatism.

Democrats outnumber Republicans 7 to 1 in voter registration in the State of New Jersey and about a month ago polls showed Booker beating Lonegan by 35%.  After some help by Sarah Palin who was joined by some friends like Mark Levin, Booker won by only 10%, an amazing turn around in a state where Dems outnumber Republicans 7 to 1 during the shutdown when the Obamabots in the mainstream media were hammering the American people with mistruths, distortions, name-calling and down right lies about the GOP and conservatives in general, especially tea party types.

Palin has been dubbed the Kingmaker by people like Ted Cruz and others that she has helped bring to victory or close in situations like Lonegan’s, and the Palin effect seems to be continuing.  Another fact to consider is that only around 1.3 million people went to the polls out of 5.5 million registered voters in New Jersey, a turnout of roughly 24% — the lowest for a state election in New Jersey since 1924, a fact that should worry the Democrats.

What is the old saying?:  You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time… and as the ugliness and truth of ObamaCare unfolds, there may be a lot less people buying what Obama, Jarrett and the Progressives are selling!

Incredible: The Official in Charge of the IRS Office Responsible for Targeting Conservative Groups Now Heads the Agency’s Obamacare Office

Updated: ‘Absolutely chilling’: IRS admits targeting conservative groups for ‘inappropriate’ scrutiny

Incredible… It Just Keeps Getting Worse: The Official in Charge of the IRS Office Responsible for Targeting  Conservative Groups Now Heads the Agency’s Obamacare Office

TheBlaze/TV:

Well, this can’t be good.

It appears that the official who oversaw the Internal Revenue Service office responsible for targeting conservative groups has moved on from that post and now heads the agency’s Obamacare division.

Sarah Hall Ingram Used to Head IRS Office Responsible for Conservative Targeting, Now Heads Agencys Obamacare Office

From ABC News:

The Internal Revenue Service official in charge of the tax-exempt organizations at the time when the unit targeted tea party groups now runs the IRS office responsible for the health care legislation.

Sarah Hall Ingram served as commissioner of the office responsible for tax-exempt organizations between 2009 and 2012. But Ingram has since left that part of the IRS and is now the director of the IRS’ Affordable Care Act office, the IRS confirmed to ABC News today.

Her successor, Joseph Grant, is taking the fall for misdeeds at the scandal-plagued unit between 2010 and 2012. During at least part of that time, Grant served as deputy commissioner of the tax-exempt unit.

Grant said Thursday he would resign as commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division on June 3, TheBlaze reported. He was appointed to the post just eight days ago.

Here’s a May 8 press release announcing his extremely short-lived promotion.

Grant, Kay Named to IRS Leadership Posts

But here’s something really interesting: Ingram received more than $100,000 in bonuses between 2009 and 2012, slightly before and well after her office started targeting conservatives, the Washington Examiner’s Mark Tapscott reports.

“Ingram received a $7,000 bonus in 2009,” the Examiner report adds, “then a $34,440 bonus in 2010, $35,400 in 2011 and $26,550 last year for a total of $103,390. Her annual salary went from $172,500 to $177,000 during the same period.”

News that the IRS official heading the agency’s Obamacare office used to run the division responsible for conservative discrimination comes on the heels of House Speaker John Boehner calling for a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

“Fully repealing ObamaCare will help us build a stronger, healthier economy, and will clear the way for patient-centered reforms that lower health care costs and protect jobs,” Boehner said shortly after the House passed a “repeal Obamacare” measure.

“Obamacare empowers the agency that just violated the public’s trust by secretly targeting conservative groups,” Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-In.) added. “Even by Washington’s standards, that’s unacceptable.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell summed up his reaction to the Ingram revelation: “stunning, just stunning.”

Restoring America: One Political Race, One Conservative Candidate at a Time

Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz

By: Lloyd Marcus

Upon our brief return to our home in Florida, Sammy, our greyhound gave me a ho-hum look and retired to his doggie-bed; not the excited welcome home I expected after being away for over a month. I fear the house-sitter has stolen the affection of my dog.

Mary and I have been in Massachusetts feverishly working to make Conservative Michael Sullivan the Republican nominee in the Massachusetts special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by John Kerry.

Many of you may wonder why my Conservative Campaign Committee has been working so diligently on the Massachusetts Senate race. What makes flipping the Massachusetts traditionally Democrat seat to a Republican seat of such national importance? Well, it could start a ripple effect in the political landscape.

Folks, in case you have not noticed, we are losing America to the socialists/progressives. Obama is like a political Dr. Frankenstein who has created his lifelong dream, a socialist/progressive monster. With his eyes bulging with excitement, Obama yells with elation, It’s alive! It’s alive!

Facing little to no opposition from terrified Republicans, Obama’s socialist/progressive monster is wrecking havoc making all of the Left’s cultural and societal dreams come true; the redefinition of marriage, government control of your children, suppression of Christianity, disarming the American people, open borders and amnesty for illegals, a majority of the population on government assistance and most devastating of all, government having total control of our behavior – deciding who lives and who dies via Obamacare. - http://truehealthistruewealth.blogspot.com/2012/10/death-panels-are-here.html

For those of you who think I am crazy or exaggerating, I offer a few current events.

Attorney General Eric Holder declared, “amnesty is a civil right”. Holder promises government will work to protect illegal aliens. http://www.wnd.com/2013/04/holder-amnesty-is-a-civil-right/

We have been told 11 million – but the reality is the new immigration bill will bring in 33 million new immigrants over the next 10 years. Rest assured, 25 million will vote Democrat for the freebies and have no desire to assimilate; thus, marking the end of the Republican Party. http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/26/anti-immigration-group-immigration-bill-to-bring-in-at-least-33-million-people/

In keeping with the Obama administration’s continuing assault on business, Harry Reid is consumed with rushing through an internet sales tax. -  http://blogs.marketwatch.com/election/2013/04/25/reid-tries-to-bring-internet-sales-tax-bill-to-final-vote/

Did you ever believe a day would come in America when government would force your daughter to indulge in lesbianism? Exposed during the Dr. Gosnell trial is the practice of “snipping” which is sticking scissors into the back of the baby’s neck and cutting the spinal cord. Snipping is done to kill those annoying babies with such a will to live that they survive the abortion undermining the abortionist. The shocking and horrific abuses of the poor and minority women revealed in the Dr. Gosnell trial has drawn not one word of criticism from Planned Parenthood. Meanwhile, Obama is the first sitting U.S. president to address/speak at a gala for Planned Parenthood which is essentially an abortion factory – especially of minority babies. Obama went as far as to demonize anyone opposing abortion. Planned Parenthood aborts 4000 babies a day folks – 4000 babies a day. Why isn’t this front page news? - http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2013/04/why-dr-kermit-gosnells-trial-should-be-a-front-page-story/274944/

We, the Tea Party, and other patriots who love America are the perceived peasants who have risen up with pitchforks to challenge the out-of-control beast created by Obama. But what is our game plan – our strategy for victory? Simple: Install Conservatives in as many key positions as possible. This strategy along with prayer for divine help and guidance is the only way to restore our great country to the vision of our Founding Fathers. We restore America one race – installing one conservative candidate at a time.

So, this is why Mary and I have been away from our Florida home living in Massachusetts for the last month or so – abandoning my dog Sammy and her cat, Marilyn.

Filling Kerry’s seat in the Senate with a Conservative Republican will give majority leader Harry Reid one less rubber-stamped vote. A Conservative in Kerry’s seat would also be another thorn in Obama’s side joining fellow constitutionalists Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.

If the Republicans can find the courage to stand on principles and do well in the 2014 midterm elections, we could possibly, dare I say it, win the Senate. Then, we can impersonate Donald Trump and say, “Harry Reid, you’re fired!”

This is why the Senate race in Massachusetts is so much bigger than just Massachusetts. Patriots, please contact your Massachusetts family, friends and associates and encourage them to vote for the conservative Republican choice, Michael Sullivan for U.S. Senate, in the Tuesday, April 30th primary.

Also, can anyone advise how I can rekindle Sammy, my greyhound dog’s loyalty and affection?

Thatcher Laid To Rest - And The Left's Promised 'Violent Protest' Falls Flat

The coffin of former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher is carried from the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in the Palace of Westminster to a hearse, as it makes its way to St Paul's Cathedral for her funeral service, in London April 17, 2013. Reuters-Steve Parsons-Pool
JoshuaPundit: Baroness Thatcher was laid to rest today in a state funeral attended by the Queen. Her flag-draped coffin was carried from a small chapel in Westminster to St. Paul's Cathedral for the funeral service escorted by members of Britain's military, including 700 veterans of the Falkland's War.

The Angry Left had promised 'violent protests' and had promised they would pelt the coffin with eggs and coal. For a sample of that rhetoric, look at the comments section here.
In the end, thousands of people lined the road to pay tribute to the Iron Lady, many of them throwing white roses in her path while the promised 'protest' turned out to be a joke. According to Reuters, hardly a conservative friendly site, only about two dozen people booed or turned their backs on the coffin, chanted 'ding dong the witch is dead' or booed.
http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/MRWe4IWp938DE.tUaTC.6A--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7Zmk9aW5zZXQ7aD02MTI7cT04NTt3PTQzNg--/http://media.zenfs.com/en_us/News/Reuters/2013-04-17T090743Z_1989341975_LR1E94H0PCK0V_RTRMADP_3_BRITAIN-THATCHER.JPG
The Daily Mail was a little more charitable, characterizing the number of protesters as around 200 at most, scattered throughout the crowd.

While security was heavy, both the military and the police had said that they would not impede protest. And since the Thatcher Haters are not noted for qualities like common decency, I can only ascribe the lack of attendance to cowardice.

It's one thing to make a speech to the converted, be a has been pop star singing an insulting song to try and resuscitate your career or to leave a hate-filled, anonymous comment on line. It's another to go public, where you might just have to engage in a vigorous debate at street level, if you get my meaning.

The funeral service was attended by 2,300 mourners, including a number of heads of State including Canada's PM Harper, Israel's PM Netanyahu, PM Mario Monti of Italy and Polish PM Donald Tusk. The Obama Administration was conspicuous by its absence, saying it was 'too busy' to send anyone just now. America was represented by former Secretaries of State James Baker III, George Schultz and Henry Kissinger, all of whom attended as private persons. And by a private, mostly Republican delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, including former Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann.  There was no official American envoy sent.

Margaret Thatcher was one of a kind, sadly. Thatcher and Reagan were fast friends and allies. She gave a moving tribute to Ronnie when he passed. It is a disgrace that no one from our government went to her funeral; no official envoy. I believe Michele Bachmann and a small delegation of mostly Republican U.S. Congressmen… members (including Marsha Blackburn), Senator John McCain, former V.P Dick Cheney and two former secretaries of state from the Reagan Era that worked with her, James Baker III and George Shultz as well as former SOS Henry Kissinger, went.  They all attended as private citizens. But Obama and company, as well as the Clintons and the Bushes, all stayed home. Shameful. – Teressa Monroe Hamilton, the NoisyRoom

It's actually quite fitting that no one from the Obama Administration could be bothered to attend the funeral of one of our staunchest allies, a woman who played a large part oin defeating the Evil Empire.Mrs. Thatcher didn't care much for commies and socialists in life, and I'm sure her spirit doesn't miss them now.

One particularly moving moment in the service came when Baroness Thatcher's grandaughter Amanda Thatcher, 19, read from the book of Ephesians to mourners.
Her reading, delivered with remarkable poise and confidence called for the righteous to put 'on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil'.
And one off putting note came from the Bishop of London, Richard Chartres, who in his remarks at the funeral called Thatcher 'just an ordinary woman' and referenced the Tolpuddle martyrs, a 19th century group of icons for Britain's trade unions, whose strangling grip on Britain's faltering economy was successfully broken during Thatcher's administration.

Amanda Thatcher, 19, drew particular accolades for her composure as she read a New Testament verse that spoke to her grandmother’s strength: “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” …WAPO

The Bishop, like a lot of Church of England clergy is fairly Left wing in his outlook (Thatcher, by the way was a Methodist) so his remarks were not entirely unexpected.
Margaret Thatcher was not 'just an ordinary woman'. She was an extraordinary woman from an ordinary background. There's a big difference.

Quite simply, she was one of those rare people who saw something wrong and decided to do something about it, and she refused to be put off. She had her defeats, and her autobiography recounts them. But she had her victories too. And in the end, what matters is that she was willing to get in to the arena in the first place, because someone had to. In the end, she fought the battles she had to fight and left things better than she found them, which is all you can really ask of a leader.

So the greengrocer's daughter who changed so much has made the passage, to be reunited with her beloved Denis and her great friend Ronald Reagan.

A number of people along the procession and in the service were openly weeping as they said goodbye to Baroness Thatcher today. She was a symbol of Britain's greatness, and perhaps part of what they found so sad was their sense that greatness has departed and will not return.

JoshuaPundit: Apparently Baroness Thatcher, one of America’s staunchest Cold War allies rates a great deal lower on President Obama's priorities than a fascist thug like Hugo Chavez, who received an official U.S. envoy. Of course if we understand Obama’s background and disdain for Britain, Winston Churchill and Conservatism… this is no surprise!!

The White House informed the British government that it would not be sending an envoy to here funeral, citing 'a busy week'. That decision was made before the Boston Bombing, by the way:

Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed ‘surprise and disappointment’ last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral.

Whitehall sources have revealed that the US delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.

Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. However, the Obama administration had said it would not be attending Thatcher’s funeral before the Boston bombings.

The Queen’s decision to attend Lady Thatcher’s funeral has effectively elevated it to a state occasion unprecedented for a political figure in Britain since the death of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965.

Other world leaders, including Canada’s Stephen Harper, Mario Monti of Italy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, are attending the service in person.

What is the White House so busy with? A spokesman from our UK embassy clarified the matter, saying that both the First Lady and the Vice President were 'the President's point people on gun control', adding: 'This is a week when there is a lot of movement on Capitol Hill on gun control issues.'

Joe Biden is riding shotgun? Heaven help us.

One correction. The phrase 'U.S. delegation ' implies some kind of official status. Baker and Shultz were going to attend as private citizens. So are former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. And House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced that the House will send a delegation to London this week to represent the U.S. House of Representatives at the funeral, led by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).

We all know by now that out president is not exactly a class act,and that this is a calculated and deliberate insult, and while the Brits are phrasing their 'disappointment' in diplomatic language, they understand.

After all, President Barack Obama has already let it be known on a number of occasions that he has little regard for any special relationship between America and Britain.

But that brings something to mind.

When Mitt Romney traveled to the UK as a presidential candidate, he received a rude, foul and totally unjustified reception from the British, being criticized and insulted for things he never even said. The Obama media here made a huge deal out of it, and I recall the Obama worship in the British press.

But had Romney gotten elected, I guarantee you he would have come to Britain to pay his respects to America's great ally in spite of that.

That might just be something for our cousins across the Pond to consider.

CPAC Star: We are not here to re-brand a party… We are here to rebuild a country!

CPAC Darling Rocks the House Again!!  The ex-governor called for conservatives to 'stop preaching to the choir'

By Ask Marion - AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin drinks from a 7-Eleven Super Big Gulp on stage while speaking at the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Md., on Saturday. Earlier in the week a New York judge struck down a ban proposed by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to end the sale of sugared sodas larger than 16-ounces.

“Barack Obama promised the most transparent government ever… Barack Obama, you lied!!” said Sarah Palin

Amid the Republican soul-searching on display at this week's Conservative Political Action Conference, the former GOP vice presidential nominee and Governor of Alaska issued her prescription: "Now is the time to furlough the consultants, and tune out the pollsters, send the focus groups home, and toss the political scripts," Palin said, "because If we truly know what we believe, we don't need professionals to tell us."

Governor Palin’s exceptional speech at CPAC 2013 was well-received, with loud applause and repeated standing ovations from the audience. CSPAN posted an archival video of her speech, and you can practically get a transcript by reading the many articles that have been written about it.  As in 2012, when Palin was the Keynote speaker, she brought it home again this year after a surprise extra introduction from Ted Cruz who thanked her and said he and 2 other recently elected candidates would not be there if it were not for Sarah Palin… plus rattling off a list of other candidates that Sarah Palin has supported and helped.

Sarah Palin Information Blog Roundup:

Mytheos Holt at the Blaze writes:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin delivered a barn-burning, hyper-folksy speech to conservative activists Saturday, bringing the entire audience to its feet multiple times.

Palin’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference started in an unconventional way: After she was first introduced, the crowd was shocked to see Texas Sen. Ted Cruz walk out onstage. Cruz said he was there to introduce Palin himself ahead of his keynote speech later in the afternoon.

“The mainstream media wants us to be timid and hide in a corner. And the mainstream media is absolutely convinced that women cannot be conservatives, and if they are, they especially cannot shoot really big guns and hunt grizzly bears,” Cruz said. “That’s why Governor Sarah Palin drives the mainstream media batcrap crazy.”

Cruz directly attributed his success to Palin, a key backer of his, saying: “I would not be in the U.S. Senate today if it were not for Sarah Palin.”

When Palin herself entered, the entire crowd surged for the first of many times. Palin waved energetically as she was welcomed, then immediately thanked Cruz.

“The senator is the keynote speaker and he would lower himself to do an introduction for a hockey mom from Wasilla,” Palin said in faux-wonder. “Ted Cruz, he chews barbed wire, he spits out rust. That’s what we need.”

[...]

“That chunk of metal did the crime? That’s like saying, ‘that fork made me fat,’” Palin joked about the idea that guns are responsible for violence. “Background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Should’ve started with yours.”

Palin wasn’t close to finished. She moved on to attack the calls for “rebranding” of the Republican Party.

“Let’s be clear about one thing: We’re not here to rebrand the party. We’re here to rebuild a country,” Palin said. “We’re not here to dedicate ourselves to new talking points coming from DC. We’re not here to put a fresh coat of rhetorical point on our party…We’re here to restore America, and the rest is just theatrics. The rest is sound and fury. It’s just noise. And that sums up the job President Obama does today.”

[...]

“If you don’t have a team of lobbyists in D.C. or a canceled contribution check, well, you’re not at the table. You’re on the menu,” she said. “The last thing we need is Washington, D.C. vetting our candidates…If we had one message to send to Washington, it would be this: Get over yourself. It’s not about you.”

But when Palin left the stage, for those few moments, it was all about her, leaving the audience roaring on its feet for several minutes straight.

From an Associated Press article posted at Newsday:

Returning to the national stage, Former AlaskaGov. Sarah Palin said Saturday that the Republican Party must broaden its message to grow.

“We must leave no American behind,” she said in a populist speech that electrified supporters at a conservative summit in suburban Washington. “And we must share our powerful message of freedom and liberty to all citizens — even those who may disagree on some issues.”

[...]

Instead of focusing on rebuilding the Republican Party, she said that party leaders should focus on rebuilding the middle class.

She jabbed President Barack Obama and the Republicanprofessional class alike, urging the crowd to reject the ideas of political consultants and pollsters, taking a not-so-subtle dig at Karl Rove, a former adviser to President George W. Bush and a co-founder of outside group Crossroads USA.

“The architects can head on back . . . to the great Lone Star State, and put their name on some ballot, though, for their sake, I hope they give themselves a discount on their consulting services,” she quipped.

But Palin saved her most pointed criticism for the president, likening him to Ponzi-scheme felon Bernie Madoff. Taking a shot at the president’s call for universal background checks on gun owners, she said, “Dandy idea, Mr. President — should have started with yours.”

Alexandra Jaffe at The Hill writes:

Sarah Palin called for the conservative grassroots to avoid consultants in a fiercely anti-establishment speech that received the strongest response yet from a packed auditorium at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday.

“The next election is 20 months away. Now is the time to furlough the consultants, and tune out the pollsters, send the focus groups home and toss the political scripts. Because if we truly know what we believe, we don’t need professionals to tell us,” Palin said, one of at least a dozen lines that received standing ovations and sustained cheering from the crowd.

[...]

Palin pleased the crowd with a number of punchy one-liners that drew laughter and widespread applause.

She criticized President Obama for claiming to want to have the most transparent administration ever, charging “Barack Obama, you lie!” a reference to a House member shouting the same thing at Obama during a 2009 joint address to Congress.

And she lambasted the president for, she said, continuing to campaign instead of govern.

“Now step away from the teleprompter, and do your job!” she said.

From the FOX News Insider:

In a jab at New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s recently defeated plan to ban large sugary drinks, Sarah Palin brought one with her onto the stage at CPAC! In a moment that drew a huge response from the crowd during her address, the former VP candidate unexpectedly pulled out the huge beverage and took a sip.

“Oh Bloomberg’s not around, our Big Gulp is safe,” she quipped.

“Shoot, it’s just pop! With low-cal ice cubes in it. I hope that’s okay.”

James V. DeLong at Conservatives for Palin writes:

It started with a very nice introduction by a young woman from the NRA emphasizing Palin as an example to young conservatives, especially women. (I will post a transcript when I find it.) Then, just as the crowd began to roar in anticipation of Palin, out walked, instead, Ted Cruz. He delivered a short introduction reminding the audience of Palin’s importance in recent elections, including a comment that without Palin, Texas would not have Ted Cruz as a senator. Then Palin did come out, to an even greater roar than the first abbreviated one.

She has become an excellent speaker. You can tell from the leftist media that the current equivalent of Journolist has sent out the talking point for the day — “she’s just an entertainer.” The line was repeated too often in the early commentary for it to be an accident. Well, she is an entertainer, just as Reagan was an actor, Franklin Roosevelt was a radio personality, and Winston Churchill was a writer. She entertains her audience with humor and wit, using them as tools to get across serious messages.

[...]

Her style choices were interesting, too. She was dressed in casual but elegant black pants and shirt. Her hair was also casual, but disheveled in a way that takes considerable skill. She is tanned and looks very healthy. She is too thin, but that probably comes from the need to be in front of TV cameras, which add pounds. She spoke to the audience as friends, with lots of expression and gesture, and throughout the talk she was clearly enjoying herself, especially when she delivered the one-liners. The look was casual, but the presentation and packaging were not. I have seen some good speakers, and she is formidable, in way that meshes with her person, her history, her message, and her target audience.

After grudgingly admitting that “the ‘Mama Grizzly’ can work a crowd better than almost anyone else in the GOP,” Grace Wyler at Business Insider posted these as Gov. Palin’s 10 best one-liners:

Here are the 10 best lines:

1.  To CPAC and partiots in the audience: “ We are not here to re-brand a party… We are here to rebuild a country!”

2.  ”More background checks? Dandy idea Mr. President. Should’ve started with yours.”

3. On her husband, Todd Palin: ”He’s got the rifle, I’ve got the rack.” [Pulls out Big Gulp]

4. “Mr. President, we admit it. You won. Accept it. Now step away from the teleprompter and do your job.”

5. “We can’t just ignore, though, that we just lost a big election. Yeah. Came in second. Out of two … Second position on a dog sled team is where the view never changes and the view ain’t pretty.”

6. “We don’t have leadership coming out of Washington. We have reality television.”

7. To College Republicans:  “I’m so proud of the college Republicans. But I’m a Mama so I have to say, ‘You gotta be thinkin’ Sam Adams… not drinkin’ Sam Adams’”

8. “If these experts keep losing elections, keep raking in millions, if they feel that strongly about who should run in this party they should buck up and run or stay in the truck. The architects can head on back to the Lone Star State and put their name on the ballot.” [Clearly this is a reference to Karl Rove]

9. ”The next election is 20 months away. Now is the time to furlough the consultants, and tune out the pollsters, send the focus groups home and toss the political scripts. Because if we truly know what we believe, we don’t need professionals to tell us.”

10. To Washington consultants: “Get over yourself. It’s not about you.”

10. “Barack Obama promised the most transparent administration ever. Barack Obama — you lie!”

11.  To Obama: Crisis after crisis… Now step away from the teleprompter and do your job

12.  Remember no drama Obama?  Now it is all drama Obama!!
