Happy Birthday, President Reagan

Today marks the birthday of Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th president of the United States of America.

Reagan became president when the United States was in a period of great stress, just after the tenure of Jimmy Carter. Inflation and interest rates were in double digits and unemployment was close to 7%, taxes were at an all time high, America's foreign policy and international prestige were reeling from the Iranian hostage crisis, severe cutbacks in defense and successful Soviet penetration all over the world.

Worse than that, Americans seemed to have lost confidence in themselves and in the country's greatness.

Reagan squared his shoulders, rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He cut government, cut taxes, and oversaw the creation of 16 million new jobs and economic growth at 3.5 % per year. He rebuilt America's military. He was unafraid to call the Soviet Union an evil empire, or to challenge them directly so that their evil empire crumpled into the dust of history.

He left America safer, stronger and wealthier than it was when he came, which is the most you can ask of a president. In simple terms, he was a singularly decent man who honored both himself and the nation he served.

He gave us confidence in ourselves again, reminded us of who we are and that we are a country singularly blessed by G-d's providence. He inspired us as a nation. And he did it with grace, charm, wit and style, and with a sunny optimism that reached out to the best in us.

If ever a president deserved a national holiday to honor him, President Reagan does.

He was by no means perfect, as he would doubtless be the first to say. But in Ronald Reagan, we have an example of what real leadership is, an example especially needed today.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President...We Miss You!!!

** And let us remember this conservative yet practical leader in the upcoming elections of 2014 and 2016.  Reagan's old and proven formula was to unite behind the most conservative and principled candidate(s) available, and to make sure he or she knew that 2-years, let alone 10-months, isn't that far away. It won't be perfect, but it will even put RINO’s who survive on notice that times have changed!!

Sarah Palin is a contender and she could win in 2016 if we, the American people, wake-up, stand-up and really want to turn things around!!  We all need to educate ourselves and share the truth about Palin, the Tea Party and other patriots under attack including Ted Cruz, Mile Lee, Rand Paul, and anyone else who stands up to the entrenched beltway politicians, as well as educate everyone about the Progressive media! We need a million more Sarah Palins to stand-up, to step-up and to stand with her!!

The right, guaranteed by the First Amendment in the U.S. Constitution is for everyone to express beliefs and ideas without unwarranted government restriction.  And tolerance goes both ways…

It is easy to stand-up and support freedom of speech when you agree with what is being said.  It is tough, but necessary when you disagree!!  Remember, every regulation on the freedom of speech makes each of us just a little less free!!

The Council Has Spoken!, the votes have been cast, and another Watcher’s Council match up is engraved in the vast halls of cyberspace!

The winner this week, The Right Planet’s excellent I Don’t Believe In Defeat is aptly named, because it concerns the mindset and the tactics used in times of conflict. Here’s a slice:

A little while back I was on Twitter and started to express my frustration with something I’ve seen too much over my lifetime; and it’s only gotten worse, in my opinion. I’m referring to what I would call a “spirit of defeatism.”

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve listened to people say they believe the whole game is rigged, so to speak. The “man” is in total control and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. In the end, according to the defeatists, we’re just cogs in a giant machine being controlled by mysterious dark forces that we have no control over; but they have total control over us, as the story goes; we are simply helpless victims who are powerless to do anything about it: “It’s just how it is.”

This sort of defeatism has never sat well with me, because at the end of the day–even if it were all true, and it may be, for all I know–it’s an excuse to do absolutely nothing about anything. Why should one waste any energy trying to change something for the better that cannot be changed?

But I can’t help, at times, to feel the frustration, anger, and even downright demoralization, of living in a world where so much evil does exist. I always agreed with Ephesians 6:10 in the Bible: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

I don’t believe in defeat, even though defeat may be a part of life, even our own–which brings me to the ancient military philosopher Sun Tzu and his view of defeat. Years ago I read the book The Art of War by Sun Tzu. The book left a big impression on me. It is not a lengthy work. One might argue it’s not really a book per se.

Although Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War, it really is a collection of maxims from many sources throughout history that Sun Tzu collected and organized, along with his own maxims on war. I quickly discovered it’s not a book you read just once and put down; it’s really a reference you return to over and over again. People refer to the Bible regularly as a reference, and often see something new in it each time they read it. Sun Tzu’s treatise is much the same way; it could be thought of as the bible on warfare.

One day, not too long ago, following a day of frustration with certain individuals who I would say are seriously afflicted with the cancer of defeatism, I got on Twitter and sent out the following Tweet:

What’s interesting is who replied. It wasn’t just anybody; it was Thomas Huyne. At first, I wasn’t sure who he was, but for some reason his name and face just rang a bell. And then I thought about it a little more and wondered if I had seen him interviewed somewhere, or if it was his name that I recognized. The only thing I could think of was a rare documentary on Sun Tzu and The Art of War I saw on the History Channel a while back. So I Tweeted Mr. Huyne and asked him if he had anything to do with the documentary. Huyne responded by saying, yes, indeed, he was one of the primary consultants for the History Channel’s documentary on The Art of War.

Now Is The Time…

Do not listen to the nay sayers and doomsday predictors… Now is the time to stand-up and fight.  A coalition of conservative voices, fiscal conservatives, Constitutionalists, independent thinkers and Libertarians are on the verge of taking over the Republican Party and the taste for freedom is in the air around the world, like in Egypt… Yet OBAMA OFFICIALS to Offer Muslim Brotherhood Top Positions in Egyptian Government (Video)

The Republican Establishment, the RINOS, who are part of the power elite system that run both parties, are split; half think Average Americans are stupid and the other half fear Conservatives, Libertarians and all common sense thinking Patriotic Americans to the point that they will go to any measures to spy on Americans, manipulate the law and judicial rulings, subvert investigations, manipulate the media and entertainment industries, and destroy anyone who shows the slightest ability and glimmer of possibly becoming a rising star or strong voice of reason and opposition in the GOP or the media, especially if they are conservative minority voices. Opposing voices in the Democrat party tend to become Independents or Republicans rather than fight the leadership within their Progressive party.

The fight and focus for the revitalization of the Republican Party and to save America must be on the forefront and begin with the 2014 Election and then be continued through the 2016 Election.  The Democrat party is very aware of that and preparing for those battles and all the smaller ones leading up to the elections is at least part of what has caused many of the scandals plaguing the Obama Administration… as more and more people are speaking up and in-turn waking up every day.  The IRS investigations, auditing and holding up of ‘tax exempt status’ of hundreds of conservative and religious groups, as well as already existing groups like the Leadership Institute and the Claire Booth Luce Organization, that affected the outcome of the 2012 Election ‘was not’ an accident, just as the subversion of information regarding the Benghazi Attack including the purposeful hiding of witnesses is not a accident.  And sadly some of this comes from support of members in both parties.

It is time to clean house in the Republican Party and as Beck says, we have never been closer to taking over the reins.  It is time for every concerned American to step up their efforts or start getting involved  in the name of truth, honest and fair elections, the Constitution, a government that represents the interests of the people and a clear choice between two parties of differing ideologies.

As Beck mentions in the video, we are at the point where the Republican Party replaced the Whigs, resulting in the election of the first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln.

The Whig Party: In 1834 political opponents of President Andrew Jackson organized a new party to contest Jacksonian Democrats nationally and in the states. Guided by their most prominent leader, Henry Clay, they called themselves Whigs-the name of the English antimonarchist party-the better to stigmatize the seventh president as 'King Andrew.' They were immediately derided by the Jacksonian Democrats as a party devoted to the interests of wealth and aristocracy, a charge they were never able to shake completely. Yet during the party's brief life, it managed to win support from diverse economic groups in all sections and to hold its own in presidential elections.

Although unable to unite behind a single candidate in 1836, thus permitting Jackson's handpicked successor Martin Van Buren to obtain an electoral majority, the Whigs won a popular vote for their candidates that was close to the popular tally for the Democrats. And in 1840 and 1848, the party captured the White House. Their only loss in a presidential election during the decade occurred in 1844 when Clay lost by a hair to the Democrats' dark horse James K. Polk, who had greater appeal to voters favoring the expansion both of territory and slavery. But in 1852, as slavery's expansion became the great issue of American politics, the Whigs suffered a drastic decline in popularity. And by 1854 they had given up the ghost, no longer able to hold the support of 'cotton Whigs,' who found a more congenial political home in the Democratic party, or of 'conscience Whigs,' who helped form the new Republican party.

Historians have interpreted the Whigs in strikingly different ways. They have been seen as champions of banks, business, corporations, economic growth, the positive liberal state, humanitarian reform, and morality in politics, and as opponents of expansionism, executive tyranny, states' rights, labor, and the democratic suffrage, among other things. These dissimilar assessments are unsurprising given the heterogeneity of the party itself, in its leaders, policies and programs, political style, and rank-and-file supporters.

The Whig party was founded by individuals united only in their antagonism to Jackson's war on the Second Bank of the United States and his high-handed measures in waging that war and ignoring Supreme Court decisions, the Constitution, and Indian rights embodied in federal treaties. Beyond that, however, there were Whigs and Whigs. Some played the demagogic anti-Catholic game; others scorned it. Some spoke critically of working people; others, admiringly. Detailed studies of the Whig party in the states and biographies of such Whig leaders as Clay, William Seward, Daniel Webster, and Horace Greeley reveal dissimilar policies from one state to another and important differences in the character, beliefs, and actions of the leaders. Thurlow Weed was much more opportunistic than his New York State colleague Seward. Thaddeus Stevens of Pennsylvania was more high-minded and not nearly as pragmatic as Clay of Kentucky. For all Clay's political flexibility and his lust for the presidency, he could still inspire the young congressman from Illinois, Abraham Lincoln.

The tendency of Whig officeholders to vote as a bloc on certain issues, in opposition to Democratic blocs, helps account for the tendency of some historians to exaggerate the extent and depth of Whig single-mindedness. In Congress, Whigs supported the Second Bank of the United States, a high tariff, distribution of land revenues to the states, relief legislation to mitigate the effects of the great depression that followed the financial panics of 1837 and 1839, and federal reapportionment of House seats (a 'reform' likely to enlarge Whig representation in Congress). Studies of voting patterns in the states reveal Whig support of banks, limited liability for corporations, prison reform, educational reform, abolition of capital punishment, and temperance. Although the Whig party was hardly an antislavery party, free blacks and abolitionists overwhelmingly preferred it to more ardently proslavery Jacksonian Democrats.

The old notion propagated by the party's enemies-that the Whigs drew their support primarily from the rich and the well-to-do-has been sharply modified by modern scholarship. The relatively few rich men in the country did prefer Whigs to Democrats, but by a modest margin. Whigs fared well at the polls among people of all classes in economically dynamic communities heavily engaged in commerce. Jacksonian propaganda did induce many people to regard the Whigs as an upper-class party (not organized working men, however, whose leaders dismissed both Democrats and Whigs as 'humbugs'). Yet Whigs could win presidential elections, governorships, and state legislature majorities only because they attracted mass support. Although they received the votes of many small farmers, shopkeepers, clerks, and artisans, they appear to have appealed particularly to what some modern historians call distinctive ethnocultural groups: evangelical as opposed to liturgical Protestants; moralists and abstainers; persons unhappy with brutal treatment of blacks and Native Americans. In some states Whig leaders seemed so critical of political parties that they appeared to be religious zealots rather than party leaders. Yet for all their antiparty rhetoric, Whigs were as realistic and efficiently organized as their Democratic opponents.

American major parties develop their own distinctive auras that are no less real for being intangible and unmeasurable. In that time, Whig and Democratic leaders were strikingly similar in such significant characteristics as wealth, occupational prestige, a fundamentally conservative social ideology, materialism, and opportunism. These similarities help explain why both major parties were attractive to moneyed men. But it is unwise to discount the significance of the unique blending of moral values and social philosophies that some imaginative historians have recently discerned in Whig leaders, a blending that helps account for the Whigs' special appeal to one rather than another kind of individual.

Ultimately, however, the Whigs are best understood as an American major party trying to be many things to many men, ready to abandon one deeply held 'conviction' for another in the drive for political power. The party died not because its unique aura no longer appealed to voters but because it could not cope effectively or persuasively with some of the issues of the time.

The Democrat Party has already undergone its own change, morphing from the Democrat Party of our grandfathers to the Progressive Party that it is today.  But because the fresh voices on the right have been thwarted from both sides and were delayed in breaking out of their cocoon, leaving the Republican Establishment, that is all too much like their Democrat counterparts, in power, the opportunity of a real election choice has been stolen from the American people for several cycles now.

And it is the fresh voices within the Republican Party that are rising that the Progressive left fears, because they are an honest alternative choice for Americans.  It is why both the left and the GOP leadership fear (feared) and demonized the Tea Party.  It is why they feared Sarah Palin and why the biased left media created Palin Derangement Syndrome, based on lies, manipulation, and distortions, that little by little have bubbled to the surface in various forms of exonerations proving that Palin was purposely set-up by the left as well as GOP leadership.  It is also why the mainstream media ignores, minimizes coverage and distorts the words and accomplishments of other politicians like Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee; Mayor and Congressional candidate Mia Love; Representatives Michelle Bachmann, Jason Chaffetz and a long list of others; plus most anyone who speaks out against the machine that is in place.

It is also time to put the in-fighting behind us.  The bitter 2012 primary debates on the Republican side certainly didn’t help anyone.  And the arguments between people who are generally on the same side need to stop as well.  Time to see and focus on the bigger picture.  For those not aware, there has been an on-going, mostly one-sided feud between Mark Levin and Glenn Beck.  This past week Mark Levin recognized on-air that he got a nice note from Glenn Beck the other day and called it an “absolute class act”. He went on to say:

“I think it’s long over due that Glenn Beck and I do what we can in our own roles to help save the country and restore the Republic.”

Side Note: The one sided feud began in 2010 over the direction of the conservative movement. Glenn was bashing progressive republicans and Mark Levin was focused on winning back the House. They just saw things differently. It took off after Glenn Beck’s CPAC speech. But it was mostly Mark Levin ranting about Glenn. Glenn never went after Levin.

None of us agree with anyone all of the time.  If we can agree most of the time there is room for compromise to focus on the bigger issues and common enemies, a concept that President Ronald Reagan firmly believed in.  He was a master of constructive compromise. Far too many Conservatives, Libertarians, Evangelicals, Independents, and just plain concerned patriotic Americans forgot this in 2012.

Get-involved!! Educate yourself and then share what you have learned… not what the mainstream media is feeding you… with friends, family, neighbors and anyone who will listen, however hesitantly.  Get involved in a campaign.  Support issues and candidates locally, statewide and nationally with funds, volunteering or just sharing their message. Run yourself.  Start a blog.  Be present in the truth and if you are so inclined.. pray.

Now is the time to stand-up for choice, freedom, America and fresh voices within the Republican Party!!

Rand Paul wins CPAC straw poll

No surprise here, as Paul's supporters worked hard to get out the vote for their man.

Rand Paul won the straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, a victory that cements his status as a tea-party favorite.

Paul, who spoke at CPAC earlier this week, drew the support of many college-age activists and libertarians. Throughout the conference's hallways, the support for Paul was strong, and his backers handed out "Stand with Rand" posters.

Conservative leaders say Paul's victory is a sign of his popularity within Republican ranks. "I'm glad someone who says bold things is rising," says Arthur Brooks, the president of the American Enterprise Institute. "At a time when many conservatives are reflecting on the future, his views are connecting."

Boyden Gray, a former counselor to President George H. W. Bush, agrees. He says Paul may not be cheered in every corner of the party, but he's a formidable figure. "Even within the GOP, people are beginning to question big institutions, from big government to big banks, and Rand Paul is speaking to them," he says.

Senator Paul, a Kentucky Republican and ophthalmologist, follows in the footsteps of his father, Ron Paul, who won the CPAC straw poll in 2010 and 2011.

Paul's supporters were not the only activists pushing a candidate at the Gaylord National Hotel in suburban Maryland. Supporters of Rick Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, and supporters of New Jersey governor Chris Christie also had informal get-out-the-vote operations.

But Paul's group was, by far, the most vocal, and its efforts paid off. According to a CPAC official, Paul was expected to win, and he drew heavy, consistent support.

Other Republicans on the ballot included Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Ted Cruz, Governor Bobby Jindal, and Governor Scott Walker. Rubio, for his part, came in a close second. Paul won 25 percent, and Rubio won 23 percent.

Tea Party favorite, rising Republican star, libertarian heartthrob - but a successful candidate for the GOP nomination in 2016?

It won't be his fiscal conservatism, or his ability to articulate conservative principles. But it may be his foreign policy positions that would make Rand Paul a bridge too far for a majority of Republicans. Is the party ready to accept isolationism as a foundational principle in foreign affairs? This remains to be seen.

Rand Paul is not as stridently anti-interventionist as his father and that has to count for something. But you can bet the major line of attack of Paul's primary opponents will be questions about his commitment to Republican foreign policy principles.

Rand Paul won the CPAC straw poll and was closely followed by Marco Rubio… and many feel that if Ted Cruz had spoken earlier in the event that he would have come in higher in the poll… but again, Sarah Palin rocked the house!!

Pro-Mitt Argument of the Day

… comes from our loyal reader and commenter, Colonel Travis. In response to my post last evening on the Obamacare “tax or penalty” issue, he writes:

Like a lot of others, I suspect if Obamacare is declared unconstitutional it will be a 5-4 decision. But I have to say I’ll be really disappointed if it is 5-4 because of the absolutely ridiculous amount of power those 4 idiots will have said Congress could have over the citizenry. There’s gotta be at least one moron leftist judge who says – this is simply too much.

This is why I can’t stand things like Santorum who said electing Romney will be like electing Obama again. What an idiot. There is no way Romney would nominate a legal doofus like Sotomayor. If we lose the presidency I don’t think people really understand how royally *bleeped*-up America will be if three more Sotomayors get on the Supreme Court.

Now Rick Santorum is very far from being an idiot, but what he said in this instance was idiocy of near Etch A Sketch dimensions. We are going to have our issues with Mitt. He and his campaign are gaffe-prone — although I’m pretty sure he knows the difference between a corpsman and a corpse-man. More to the point, he will often have to be pushed in a more conservative direction — Dan Henninger diagnosed this with characteristic brilliance several months ago, Rush has pointed out that the primary campaign appears to have had exactly this effect, and to hear Governor Romney speak after he won Illinois the other night was to conclude that this all is to the good.

But whatever you think of Romney, whatever understandable suspicions you have about his conservative bona fides, we can’t lose our perspective here: He is so much better than President Obama that it is like comparing last year’s Green Bay Packers (a playoff team with some glaring flaws) to the ’76 Tampa Bay Bucs (an unmitigated disaster). At times when the intensity and sleepless nights of a tough campaign prevent Rick from seeing that, he needs to lie down and get a grip.

Mitt is not the ideal candidate (no one in the GOP field is), but he’s got Bob Bork advising him on judges and John Bolton advising him on foreign policy. You think you’re gonna get originalist judges and Bolton grit from Obama? And I’m as worried as anyone about whether Romney and the GOP establishment are committed to do something consequential about what could be our death-spiral of spending and debt; but I also think the Bush years are over — thanks to the Tea Party and other conservative leaders, the right is no longer going to roll over for a Republican president inclined to do Progressive-Lite. I think Jonah is right that “a President Romney would be on a very short leash.”

I’ve said here a number of times since I foolishly played the primary endorsement game in 2008 that I don’t think it’s worth it — not for NR and not for writers of any ideological bent who try to write objectively about the campaign. But if Mitt wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy.

For my friends who have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind: Justice Scalia just turned 78, Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year, Justice Breyer will be 76 in August, and Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago. We wish them all well, of course, but the brute fact is that whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come. If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky.

Which brings us back to Colonel Travis’s point. The Supremes are about to hear the huge health-care case. How worried would you be about it if we had a Supreme Court whose last two justices, instead of being Sotomayor and Kagan, had been chosen by a guy getting advice from Bob Bork — by a guy beholden to the same conservatives whose near-mutiny forced President Bush to appoint Justice Sam Alito?

Who do you stand with? Do you stand with those who want to preserve and restore our free markets, property rights and Liberty? Or do you stand with the vile and violent Occupiers who want to destroy America (or, as Obama calls it, “transform America”)?

Obama, his administration and specific Congressional Representatives have voiced their support for Occupy, so we know who they stand with. Will you be voting against them in the 2012 election?

Let’s get right down to it… it’s time to believe what you see with your own eyes, not what the propaganda media feeds you. Does the media tell you the truth? No.

Ask your family, friends and neighbors to watch these videos so they can see the dramatic difference between Occupy and the Tea Party. Then ask them if they knew the difference before they saw these videos.

It’s time for everyone to decide who they stand with – and then stand! And vote accordingly!

Glenn Beck Rips Progressivism at CPAC

Fox News host Glenn Beck, armed with a chalkboard, blamed "progressivism " for America's problems Saturday in his keynote speech that brought the annual Conservative Political Action Conference to a close.

Fox News host Glenn Beck, armed with his trademark chalkboard, blamed "progressivism " for America's problems Saturday in his keynote speech that brought the annual Conservative Political Action Conference to a close.

The chalkboard, a prop that he uses frequently on his top-rated show, brought the audience to its feet. Beck wrote "Progressivism" on it to underscore his belief in what America is suffering from.

When Beck asked what America is suffering from, someone shouted "President Obama," though Beck, an outspoken critic of the president, said it's "not that simple."

Beck rejected the notion that the Republican Party should expand its tent to include progressives.

"What is this? A circus?" he said, drawing laughter. "America is not a clown show. America is an idea that sets people free."

Opening up about his troubled past, Beck told the crowd, "People need to understand that life is not fair. The bad guy sometimes wins."

The speech capped three days of panel discussions and high-profile speakers, including numerous politicians mentioned as contenders for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. But for a lot of the CPAC attendees, Beck was the reason they came, as he is seen as a leader in the new conservative movement.

The speech comes after a year in which Beck's growing popularity as a Fox News host coincided with the rise of the Tea Party Movement and populist rage directed at Washington. Beck also launched the 9/12 Project, which sets forth nine values and 12 principles that he believes the country was founded upon. The project inspired a major march in Washington in September.

"This is how is America should be," said Cynthia Burgiss, 22, a student at the University of Dayton in Ohio who attended the 9/12 march in D.C. this year. "People of every race, political affiliation, religion came together for different reasons."

She was at CPAC to see Beck and called him a "relatable ... everyday guy."

"None of this would have happened without Glenn," she said.

What the Tea Party Movement is and Is Not…

A very interesting story about how the New York Times is finally giving tea party groups media coverage. What is so interesting is they are painting all tea party goers as right wing fanatics, calling for sedition, armed conflict and such.

While the the majority of tea party goers are concerned Americans try to effect representative government. The attempt by the left wing media now to demonize the movement is an affront to every one who is not a radical right wing nut. So being a tea party member I implore all members to stick to the issues and advise all members to do the same. We do not want to be demonized by the left wing media and its supporters (George Soros) who will do everything to discredit the movement.

This is from an earlier post on one of AARP’s Political Blogs by a well-researched, very enlightened blogger…

It is surprising how many political commentators on radio and TV, in newspapers and magazines, talk show hosts and members of both major political parties have a very large misunderstanding of what the Tea Party Movement is all about. They make an invalidate assumption, and then rant and rave believing that their assumption is actual fact.

Let me attempt to clarify.

WHAT THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT IS NOT.

* It is not an attack on Obama. He just happened to be the President in power, when the dam burst.

* It is not an attack against the Democratic Party.

* It is not a movement in support of the Republican party.

WHAT IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT?

* It is a protest against the way government is run, whether the Republicans are in power, or the Democrats are in power. It is a protest against government being run either from the extreme right or the extreme left.

The members of the Tea Party movement did not all come from one Political Party. The members are made up, in equal parts, of Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Independents.

WHAT THE MEMBERS OF THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT ARE OPPOSED TO.

* Against politicians whose main role in life is getting elected and reelected.

* Against politicians ignoring the wishes of their constituents and voting per the instruction of party leaders.

* Against politicians who vote for bills, without reading them

* Against SWEET HEART deals with lobbyists, unions, big business, and major contributors*

* Against politicians who accept “favors”, meals, event tickets, travel, lodging, meals, etc from lobbyists.

* Against politicians who feel that it beneath them to respond to their constituent’s request, meetings, phone calls, etc.

* Against mortgaging the financial future of our children and grandchildren

* Against closed door deals

* Against earmarks (pork)

* Against the lack of transparency on proposed legislation.

* Against politicians who take expensive junkets, at taxpayer expense, for no apparent justifiable reason

* Against politicians who are paid $ 175,000 per year, plus an un taxable $93,000, petty cash fund, to only work 3 days a week when Congress is in session, but who seldom bother to make an appearance during those three days.

* Against political payoffs to politicians in order to “buy their vote"

*· Against politicians who make speeches running down and apologizing for our country

* Against politicians who have a large staff, paid for by tax payer funds, whose jobs are totally dependent upon satisfying the desires of the elected official they work for, rather than their constituents

* Against politicians who feel they they know better than we do regarding how we should run our lives

* Other

WHAT THE MEMBERS OF THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT ARE FOR

* Politicians who believe that our government should be a government of the people, by the people and for the

* Politicians who are concerned with that which is best for the country, rather than what’s best for their political future.

* Politicians who believe and follow the principles laid down in The Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution.

* Fiscal responsibility – Spending only the money available and not constantly borrowing against the future

* Eliminating high cost “perks” that are only available to elected officials

* Establishing a special fund for FICA contributions and not throwing Social Security money into the general fund, which Congress immediately spends

* Elimination of earmarks – pork

* Transparency of all proposed legislation – require that the complete text of all proposed legislation be posted on the Internet for a minimum of 72 hours prior to allowing that legislation to be voted upon.

* Other, but you get the idea

The New York Times article typical of what the left does best... demonize everyone who opposes them. Alinsky followers every last one, including Hillary Clinton!!

Remember their slogan, the end justifies any means!!

Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

There is much talk of the formation of a third political party based on the tea party movement.

Tea Party Patriots is issuing this statement in order to make it clear that we are not associated with any attempts to form a third party. Additionally, we believe that such efforts are unproductive and unwise at this time. The history of third party movements in this country is one of division and defeat. We believe that it is instead time for all Americans to rise up and demand appropriate reform within their own parties. The mechanisms exist for
citizens to participate in their parties, and to drive their parties in the right direction.
