Listen up… Palin is one classy yet tough American woman who defeated the left wing media smear machine and gives hope for good men and women everywhere to run for office.
“By the Way… If you want to save this country, don’t even consider Chris Christie or Paul Ryan as a presidential candidate, Republicans; it’s time to get real America, it’s time to focus and create the opportunity for Truth to be heard. How? By speaking it and not shrinking back from the PC liars!” …PBN (And Democrats, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are just variations of what we have had for the past 5-years who were involved in all the scandals and screw-ups in Obamaland!)
“It is also time to stop listening to the propaganda that has been fed us, over and over again, by the Progressives on both sides, by the RINOs and Establishment Republicans and by the ruling elite which includes the mainstream media whose job it is to inform the public and report the truth of what is going on without bias… not to work hand-in-hand with one side or the other and spout their opinions instead of facts without noting that they are editorializing!”
Sarah Palin is a contender and she could win in 2016 if we, the American people, wake-up, stand-up and really want to turn things around!! We all need to educate ourselves and share the truth about Palin, the Tea Party and other patriots under attack including Ted Cruz, Mile Lee, Rand Paul, and anyone else who stands up to the entrenched beltway politicians, as well as educate everyone about the Progressive media! We need a million more Sarah Palins to stand-up, to step-up and to stand with her!!
The right, guaranteed by the First Amendment in the U.S. Constitution is for everyone to express beliefs and ideas without unwarranted government restriction. And tolerance goes both ways…
It is easy to stand-up and support freedom of speech when you agree with what is being said. It is tough, but necessary when you disagree!! Remember, every regulation on the freedom of speech makes each of us just a little less free!!
Dedicated to the Robertson Family and Duck Dynasty
“Free speech is an endangered species;
those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ & taking on Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing personal opinion, take us all on,” …Sarah Palin Tweeted
The Council Has Spoken!, the votes have been cast, and another Watcher’s Council match up is engraved in the vast halls of cyberspace!
The winner this week, The Right Planet’s excellent I Don’t Believe In Defeat is aptly named, because it concerns the mindset and the tactics used in times of conflict. Here’s a slice:
A little while back I was on Twitter and started to express my frustration with something I’ve seen too much over my lifetime; and it’s only gotten worse, in my opinion. I’m referring to what I would call a “spirit of defeatism.”
I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve listened to people say they believe the whole game is rigged, so to speak. The “man” is in total control and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. In the end, according to the defeatists, we’re just cogs in a giant machine being controlled by mysterious dark forces that we have no control over; but they have total control over us, as the story goes; we are simply helpless victims who are powerless to do anything about it: “It’s just how it is.”
This sort of defeatism has never sat well with me, because at the end of the day–even if it were all true, and it may be, for all I know–it’s an excuse to do absolutely nothing about anything. Why should one waste any energy trying to change something for the better that cannot be changed?
But I can’t help, at times, to feel the frustration, anger, and even downright demoralization, of living in a world where so much evil does exist. I always agreed with Ephesians 6:10 in the Bible: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
I don’t believe in defeat, even though defeat may be a part of life, even our own–which brings me to the ancient military philosopher Sun Tzu and his view of defeat. Years ago I read the book The Art of War by Sun Tzu. The book left a big impression on me. It is not a lengthy work. One might argue it’s not really a book per se.
Although Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War, it really is a collection of maxims from many sources throughout history that Sun Tzu collected and organized, along with his own maxims on war. I quickly discovered it’s not a book you read just once and put down; it’s really a reference you return to over and over again. People refer to the Bible regularly as a reference, and often see something new in it each time they read it. Sun Tzu’s treatise is much the same way; it could be thought of as the bible on warfare.
One day, not too long ago, following a day of frustration with certain individuals who I would say are seriously afflicted with the cancer of defeatism, I got on Twitter and sent out the following Tweet:
What’s interesting is who replied. It wasn’t just anybody; it was Thomas Huyne. At first, I wasn’t sure who he was, but for some reason his name and face just rang a bell. And then I thought about it a little more and wondered if I had seen him interviewed somewhere, or if it was his name that I recognized. The only thing I could think of was a rare documentary on Sun Tzu and The Art of War I saw on the History Channel a while back. So I Tweeted Mr. Huyne and asked him if he had anything to do with the documentary. Huyne responded by saying, yes, indeed, he was one of the primary consultants for the History Channel’s documentary on The Art of War.
In our Non-Council category, the winner was Council alumni David Gerstmanfrom Le.gal In.sur.rec.tion with Al Qaeda is on the Run …to Everywhere submitted by Liberty’s Spirit.
David took on President Obama’s famous statement about al-Qaeda being ‘on the run’ and gave it a pretty vicious going over..a great read.
OK, here are this weeks’ full results. Both The Razor and The Mellow Jihadi were unable to vote this week, but neither was subject to the usual 2/3 vote penalty:
See you next week! Don’t forget to tune in on Monday AM for this week’s Watcher’s Forum, as the Council and their invited guests take apart one of the provocative issues of the day and weigh in…don’t you dare miss it. And don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us Twitter..’cause we’re cool like that!
WesternFreePress: Once again, Judge Jeanine Pirro pulls no punches as she calls out Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Jay Carney, and Susan Rice for lying to the American people. On May 11, in under 12 minutes, the Judge reviews the facts — facts — as she excoriates them all as liars, betrayers, and hypocrites.
Says Judge Jeanine Pirro, with passion:
It’s not one fact, but each fact taken together as a connected whole, that convinces us of what the truth is. And [what is] that truth? Jay Carney, Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama — they all lied to us.
Now I’m tired of the sugar coating … I’m tired of putting truth to the falsehood … a lie is a lie is a lie … let’s call it what it is.
Like the professional prosecutor this 62-year-old woman once was, Pirro hammers her case home, one fact after another, with marksman-like precision.
The judge also calls out Pickering and Mullen for their so-called “leadership” of the Accountability Review Board, Carney for his “bold-faced lies” from the Press Corps podium, and Panetta for his absurd rationalization of why nothing was done to help the besieged Americans.
Judge Jeanine modestly calls this segment her “Opening Statement”. But it may well be sufficient to change the minds of millions of Americans who’ve hung on long enough with this president and his entourage. And there’s surely more to come. We’ve all been betrayed and exploited by them. It’s time for it to stop.
Will any politician of either party step forward and stand as tall as Judge Jeanine Pirro has done? The Benghazi Four gave up their lives. Out of respect for them, can no politician at least risk his or her lousy political career?
“Scandal” is too tame a word for what Obama and his gang have done. Watergate, Monica-Gate, Iran-Contra, Teapot Dome — none compares to this. How much more will it take for those we’ve sent to Congress to step forward?
PaleBeyond
There is no finer statement of the facts as presented by Judge Jeanine. The "facts" are so clear and defining of a coordinated effort - they are indeed a conspiracy to deceive.
The Executive Branch is guilty as charged.
deceit - the act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; and cheating.
conspiracy - an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons; a plot.
Indeed, this is more than a scandal. This is a crime.
Econ101
And "Benghazi-Gate" is too cute a name for this travesty. Have they no shame? "Benghazi Betrayals" would be more appropriate. Kudos to Judge Jeanine for telling this story truthfully with the confidence and passion it deserves. This story should also bring down the media that ignored it. They're culpable as well. Have they no shame either?
I posted this video once before, but this week, with the death of Ronald Reagan’s good friend and ally Lady Thatcher, has brought back many memories from that era in history and it seemed only fitting to post it again for those who have not heard it.
Ronald Reagan's church put this together to commemorate the birthday of Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately the war against the evil of liberalism is still alive and well, and we fight it even at Bel Air Presbyterian. The liberal Presbyterians are doing all they can to pervert the church from the inside out. Fortunately the conservative Christians are strong at Bel Air. (Those Presbyterians from Reagan’s era might be very surprised at the direction their church has chosen.) Ronald Reagan loved Bel Air Presbyterian as I do...Enjoy!
Below is a quick transcript of the narration from the video above.
“Someone asked me whether I was aware of all the people out there who were praying for the president and I had to say, “Yes, I am”. I’ve felt it…..I believe inintercessionary prayer, but I couldn’t help but say to that questioner after - that sometimes when he was praying if he got a busy signal – it was just me in there [praying] ahead of him.
I think I understand how Abraham Lincoln felt when he said “I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming convictions I have that have nowhere else to go.”
Now I realize it is fashionable in some circles, to believe that no one in government should encourage others to read the Bible. That we are told that will violate the constitutional separation of church and state, established by the founding fathers in the first amendment. The first amendment was NOT written to protect people and their laws from religious values, it was written to protect those [ religious] values from government tyranny.
I’ve said that we must be cautious in claiming God is on our side. I think the real question we must answer is “Are we are on His side?”
No matter where we live, we have a promise that can make all the difference. A promise from Jesus to soothe our sorrows heal our hearts and drive away our fears.
He promised there will never be a dark night that does not end. Our weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning
He promised if our hearts are true, His love will be as sure as sunlight.
And by dying for us, Jesus showed how far our love should be ready to go – all the way.
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Americans yearn to explore life’s deepest truths. To say their entertainment ….their idea of entertainment - is sex and violence and crime is an insult to their goodness and intelligence.
We are people who believe love can triumph over hate - creativity over destruction and hope over despair.
That’s why so many millions hunger for God’s good News. I have always believed that we were ….each of us put here for a reason we were put here for a reason that there is a plan.
Somehow A divine plan for all of us
I know now that whatever days are left to me - belong to Him.
I also believe this blessed land was set apart in a very special way.
Our forebearers came not for gold, but mainly in search of God and the freedom to worship in their own way. We have been a free people living under the law with faith in our maker and our future. I have said before that the most sublime picture in American history is of George Washington on his knees in the snow at Valley Forge. That image personifies a people who know it is not enough to depend on our own courage and goodness, we must also seek help from God our Father and preserver.
We’ll never find every answer, solve every problem or heal every wound, but we can do a lot if we walk together down that one path that we know provides real hope.
The morality and values such faith implies are deeply embedded in our national character. Our country embraces those principles by design and we abandon them at our peril.
My experience in this office I hold has only deepened the belief I have held for many years.
Within the covers of that single Book are all the answers to all the problems that face us today, if we would only read and believe.
President Ronald Reagan, Blessed (Pope) John Paul II, Prime Minister (Baroness) Margaret Thatcher and Mikhail Gorbachev (the General Secretary Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) ended the Cold War and changed the face of the world. Reagan and Thatcher were political soul mates, making our countries even closer allies than they had been before.
Sadly like relations with our strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel, The Obama Administration was conspicuous by its absence, at the Thatcher funeral. It would have greatly surprised, saddened and disappointed President Reagan. Obama and his administration said it was ‘too busy’ to send anyone just now, and this was before the Boston bombings. There was no official American envoy sent to Thatcher’s funeral. It was a disgrace! America was (unofficially) represented by former Secretaries of State James Baker III, George Schultz and Henry Kissinger, all of whom attended as private persons. And by a small private, mostly Republican delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, including former Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, Marsha Blackburn and Tim Holden. Senator John McCain and former V.P Dick Cheney also attended as private citizens because there was no official American envoy sent.
Obama and company, as well as the Clintons and all the Bushes, all stayed home. Shameful.
*First Lady Nancy Reagan and President George H.W. Bush were too ill to travel.
And they still hate her for it… Evil always despises strength and Baroness Margaret Thatcher was holy water to the vampiric Progressive Left. The Lioness of the British Isles roared onto the scene with Ronald Reagan and John Paul II to fight Communism and oppression. The Iron Lady, depicted here by Meryl Streep from the movie ‘The Iron Lady’ [Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Combo), was a warrior for freedom and she will forever be admired by me and millions of others.
Some people call it a coincidence — I think it’s more than that — that at the same time in the world we had Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II, and Margaret Thatcher. During those years were the only time in my lifetime where the left was actually turned back. Not just stopped, but defeated and turned back. It was the only time in my life. Poland, Berlin, Moscow, the United States. Wherever. Those three leaders on the political stage, the world stage at the same time, did more for freedom and liberty for people all over this world than any three people since the founding of this country — and they all served at the same time, overlapping.
Today we say goodbye to a towering figure of the 20th century. With the passing of Margaret Thatcher, we’ve sadly lost the last living member of that great triumvirate that included Ronald Reagan and John Paul II – those giants who defeated the evil empire of Soviet Communism and allowed the liberation of its captive nations. We’ve also lost one of the great champions of economic freedom and democratic ideals.
The Grocer’s Daughter was indeed iconic and one of the greatest leaders of our time. She was not afraid to voice her opinions and go toe to toe with the Leftists – summarily wiping the political floor with them time and again. A debater that had no equal, she used facts and logic as her weapons of choice, burnishing their mortal impact with eloquent prose and stunning delivery. Thatcher was a titan spearheading accomplishment, while dragging Progressives kicking and screaming into the light of capitalistic success and growth:
She put those beliefs into action. Like Reagan, she was a leader for whom word and deed were one and the same. A leader of a conservative think tank behind the Thatcher revolution famously said, “We were not interested in political office for the Conservative party. We were interested in power for them to get things done.” And that’s exactly what Thatcher did. While others in her party were interested in holding on to political office and overseeing “the orderly management of [Britain's] decline,” she actually radically reformed a broken system and brought it back to free-market principles, leaving her country stronger, wealthier, and a leader in the world when just a decade before it had been dismissed as “the sick man of Europe.” Her push to privatize British industry and lower tax rates led to a substantial economic expansion and became a model for other countries shrugging off the yoke of socialism.
She knew what Ronald Reagan knew. That free markets and a free people are the best defense against tyranny and that peace comes through strength, not accommodation.
Prophetic in her vision for a stronger Britain as well as a freer world, Thatcher diagnosed the Socialist disease that plagues the globe and offered the cure of smaller government, lower taxation and economic expansion. Her enemies put forth wealth redistribution and equal misery for all with more taxation, regulation and government rule. It is small wonder her enemies celebrate her death in the streets, but all Americans and the world should reflect and hold in wonder the ideals of Margaret Thatcher, while reimplementing them before it is too late. Communism/Socialism/Marxism/Progressivism never succeed, they always fail. They end in massive death, poverty and misery. The world cries out for another Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher to deliver us from One World rule.
Will America once again follow the vision of Reagan and Thatcher? We do indeed stand at the crossroads of history — a choice between what the Founding Fathers saw in smaller government, less regulation, less taxation and the power lying with the States and the people vs. the horrific future of the Progressive Left with an all-encompassing Nanny State, never-ending regulation and government control, crony capitalism and dictatorial rule.
What can you say about Margaret Thatcher’s accomplishments? She was a green grocer’s daughter who rose to become Britain’s Prime Minister, who did her best to reverse what she clearly saw as her country’s decline, who led Britain in war and peace, who survived a terrorist assassination by the IRA that killed five people. This was someone who put principle first, who informed the people who wanted business as usual that this lady was not for turning. She literally scared Britain’s Socialist establishment witless by pointing out loudly and clearly what they were doing to her country and where it would ultimately lead.
I identify with Baroness Thatcher. I consider her my role model and I grieve her passing. Her legacy, however, will live on and so will our fight for conservative ideals and individual liberty. The fight will never end while Communism lives. While Constitutional Conservatives fight to regain America’s freedoms, Democrats are blocking a resolution to honor Lady Thatcher. How sick and twisted is that? It shows a dearth of character and a lack of morality. I guess they only honor commies these days. The death of morality presages the death of a country. Always.
Free societies demand more care and devotion than any others. They are, moreover, the only societies with moral foundations, and those foundations are evident in their political, economic, legal, cultural, and, most importantly, spiritual life.
We who are living in the West today are fortunate. Freedom has been bequeathed to us. We have not had to carve it out of nothing; we have not had to pay for it with our lives. Others before us have done so. But it would be a grave mistake to think that freedom requires nothing of us. Each of us has to earn freedom anew in order to possess it. We do so not just for our own sake, but for the sake of our children, so that they may build a better future that will sustain over the wider world the responsibilities and blessings of freedom.
Heritage’s Nile Gardiner on the Passing of Margaret Thatcher
I intend to honor Margaret Thatcher by continuing the research into and the hunt for Progressives on both sides of the political aisle. You can see my research and work with Trevor Loudon over at KeyWiki.org. To paraphrase Lady Thatcher, “Our job is to stop America from going Red.”
To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukemia with leeches.
I came to office with one deliberate intent: to change Britain from a dependent to a self-reliant society — from a give-it-to-me, to a do-it-yourself nation. A get-up-and-go, instead of a sit-back-and-wait-for-it Britain.
We want a society where people are free to make choices, to make mistakes, to be generous and compassionate. This is what we mean by a moral society; not a society where the state is responsible for everything, and no one is responsible for the state.
My job is to stop Britain from going red.
There can be no liberty unless there is economic liberty.
They’re casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It’s our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour.
Socialists cry “Power to the people,” and raise the clenched fist as they say it. We all know what they really mean — power over people, power to the State.
Communist regimes were not some unfortunate aberration, some historical deviation from a socialist ideal. They were the ultimate expression, unconstrained by democratic and electoral pressures, of what socialism is all about. … In short, the state [is] everything and the individual nothing.
Of course it’s the same old story. Truth usually is the same old story.
I owe nothing to Women’s Lib.
Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people’s money. It’s quite a characteristic of them.
Pennies don’t fall from heaven, they have to be earned here on earth.
Good Conservatives always pay their bills. And on time. Not like the Socialists who run up other people’s bills.
Let us never forget this fundamental truth: The State has no source of money other than the money people themselves earn.
Let me give you my vision: A man’s right to work as he will, to spend what he earns, to own property, to have the state as servant and not as master.
All corporatism – even when practised in societies where hard work, enterprise and cooperation are as highly valued as in Korea – encourages inflexibility, discourages individual accountability, and risks magnifying errors by concealing them.
Constitutions have to be written on hearts, not just paper.
It is not the creation of wealth that is wrong, but the love of money for its own sake.
No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he’d only had good intentions; he had money as well.
Many of our troubles are due to the fact that our people turn to politicians for everything.
People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations, because there is no such thing as an entitlement unless someone has first met an obligation.
When all the objectives of government include the achievement of equality – other than equality before the law – that government poses a threat to liberty.
Socialists have always spent much of their time seeking new titles for their beliefs, because the old versions so quickly become outdated and discredited.
Socialism’s results have ranged between the merely shabby and the truly catastrophic – poverty, strife, oppression and, on the killing fields of communism, the deaths this century of perhaps 100 million people. Against that doctrine was set a contrary, conservative belief in a law-governed liberty. It was this view which triumphed with the crumbling of the Berlin Wall. Since then, the Left has sought rehabilitation by distancing itself from its past.
Marxists get up early to further their cause. We must get up even earlier to defend our freedom.
“Margaret Thatcher was a freedom fighter, a lover of capitalism and promoter of free societies and the rights of the people; a symbol of strength for the world!! You either loved her or hated her, but nobody ignored her!! Had she not been suffering from dementia (caused by a series of strokes… and a stroke ultimately killed her) the past several years, like her good friend Ronald Reagan suffered from Alzheimer’s the last years of his life, she would not have believed what has happened to America and the West and would certainly have been a vocal opponent of the Obama administration and many of the policies in her own country! ”
The 2014 elections are just twenty months away. We appreciate your support; together we have elected many great commonsense conservatives over the past four years. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin drinks from a 7-Eleven Super Big Gulp on stage while speaking at the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Md., on Saturday. Earlier in the week a New York judge struck down a ban proposed by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to end the sale of sugared sodas larger than 16-ounces.
“Barack Obama promised the most transparent government ever… Barack Obama, you lied!!” said Sarah Palin
Amid the Republican soul-searching on display at this week's Conservative Political Action Conference, the former GOP vice presidential nominee and Governor of Alaska issued her prescription: "Now is the time to furlough the consultants, and tune out the pollsters, send the focus groups home, and toss the political scripts," Palin said, "because If we truly know what we believe, we don't need professionals to tell us."
Governor Palin’s exceptional speech at CPAC 2013 was well-received, with loud applause and repeated standing ovations from the audience. CSPAN posted an archival video of her speech, and you can practically get a transcript by reading the many articles that have been written about it. As in 2012, when Palin was the Keynote speaker, she brought it home again this year after a surprise extra introduction from Ted Cruz who thanked her and said he and 2 other recently elected candidates would not be there if it were not for Sarah Palin… plus rattling off a list of other candidates that Sarah Palin has supported and helped.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin delivered a barn-burning, hyper-folksy speech to conservative activists Saturday, bringing the entire audience to its feet multiple times.
Palin’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference started in an unconventional way: After she was first introduced, the crowd was shocked to see Texas Sen. Ted Cruz walk out onstage. Cruz said he was there to introduce Palin himself ahead of his keynote speech later in the afternoon.
“The mainstream media wants us to be timid and hide in a corner. And the mainstream media is absolutely convinced that women cannot be conservatives, and if they are, they especially cannot shoot really big guns and hunt grizzly bears,” Cruz said. “That’s why Governor Sarah Palin drives the mainstream media batcrap crazy.”
Cruz directly attributed his success to Palin, a key backer of his, saying: “I would not be in the U.S. Senate today if it were not for Sarah Palin.”
When Palin herself entered, the entire crowd surged for the first of many times. Palin waved energetically as she was welcomed, then immediately thanked Cruz.
“The senator is the keynote speaker and he would lower himself to do an introduction for a hockey mom from Wasilla,” Palin said in faux-wonder. “Ted Cruz, he chews barbed wire, he spits out rust. That’s what we need.”
[...]
“That chunk of metal did the crime? That’s like saying, ‘that fork made me fat,’” Palin joked about the idea that guns are responsible for violence. “Background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Should’ve started with yours.”
Palin wasn’t close to finished. She moved on to attack the calls for “rebranding” of the Republican Party.
“Let’s be clear about one thing: We’re not here to rebrand the party. We’re here to rebuild a country,” Palin said. “We’re not here to dedicate ourselves to new talking points coming from DC. We’re not here to put a fresh coat of rhetorical point on our party…We’re here to restore America, and the rest is just theatrics. The rest is sound and fury. It’s just noise. And that sums up the job President Obama does today.”
[...]
“If you don’t have a team of lobbyists in D.C. or a canceled contribution check, well, you’re not at the table. You’re on the menu,” she said. “The last thing we need is Washington, D.C. vetting our candidates…If we had one message to send to Washington, it would be this: Get over yourself. It’s not about you.”
But when Palin left the stage, for those few moments, it was all about her, leaving the audience roaring on its feet for several minutes straight.
From an Associated Press article posted at Newsday:
Returning to the national stage, Former AlaskaGov. Sarah Palin said Saturday that the Republican Party must broaden its message to grow.
“We must leave no American behind,” she said in a populist speech that electrified supporters at a conservative summit in suburban Washington. “And we must share our powerful message of freedom and liberty to all citizens — even those who may disagree on some issues.”
[...]
Instead of focusing on rebuilding the Republican Party, she said that party leaders should focus on rebuilding the middle class.
She jabbed President Barack Obama and the Republicanprofessional class alike, urging the crowd to reject the ideas of political consultants and pollsters, taking a not-so-subtle dig at Karl Rove, a former adviser to President George W. Bush and a co-founder of outside group Crossroads USA.
“The architects can head on back . . . to the great Lone Star State, and put their name on some ballot, though, for their sake, I hope they give themselves a discount on their consulting services,” she quipped.
But Palin saved her most pointed criticism for the president, likening him to Ponzi-scheme felon Bernie Madoff. Taking a shot at the president’s call for universal background checks on gun owners, she said, “Dandy idea, Mr. President — should have started with yours.”
Sarah Palin called for the conservative grassroots to avoid consultants in a fiercely anti-establishment speech that received the strongest response yet from a packed auditorium at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday.
“The next election is 20 months away. Now is the time to furlough the consultants, and tune out the pollsters, send the focus groups home and toss the political scripts. Because if we truly know what we believe, we don’t need professionals to tell us,” Palin said, one of at least a dozen lines that received standing ovations and sustained cheering from the crowd.
[...]
Palin pleased the crowd with a number of punchy one-liners that drew laughter and widespread applause.
She criticized President Obama for claiming to want to have the most transparent administration ever, charging “Barack Obama, you lie!” a reference to a House member shouting the same thing at Obama during a 2009 joint address to Congress.
And she lambasted the president for, she said, continuing to campaign instead of govern.
“Now step away from the teleprompter, and do your job!” she said.
In a jab at New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s recently defeated plan to ban large sugary drinks, Sarah Palin brought one with her onto the stage at CPAC! In a moment that drew a huge response from the crowd during her address, the former VP candidate unexpectedly pulled out the huge beverage and took a sip.
“Oh Bloomberg’s not around, our Big Gulp is safe,” she quipped.
“Shoot, it’s just pop! With low-cal ice cubes in it. I hope that’s okay.”
James V. DeLong at Conservatives for Palin writes:
It started with a very nice introduction by a young woman from the NRA emphasizing Palin as an example to young conservatives, especially women. (I will post a transcript when I find it.) Then, just as the crowd began to roar in anticipation of Palin, out walked, instead, Ted Cruz. He delivered a short introduction reminding the audience of Palin’s importance in recent elections, including a comment that without Palin, Texas would not have Ted Cruz as a senator. Then Palin did come out, to an even greater roar than the first abbreviated one.
She has become an excellent speaker. You can tell from the leftist media that the current equivalent of Journolist has sent out the talking point for the day — “she’s just an entertainer.” The line was repeated too often in the early commentary for it to be an accident. Well, she is an entertainer, just as Reagan was an actor, Franklin Roosevelt was a radio personality, and Winston Churchill was a writer. She entertains her audience with humor and wit, using them as tools to get across serious messages.
[...]
Her style choices were interesting, too. She was dressed in casual but elegant black pants and shirt. Her hair was also casual, but disheveled in a way that takes considerable skill. She is tanned and looks very healthy. She is too thin, but that probably comes from the need to be in front of TV cameras, which add pounds. She spoke to the audience as friends, with lots of expression and gesture, and throughout the talk she was clearly enjoying herself, especially when she delivered the one-liners. The look was casual, but the presentation and packaging were not. I have seen some good speakers, and she is formidable, in way that meshes with her person, her history, her message, and her target audience.
After grudgingly admitting that “the ‘Mama Grizzly’ can work a crowd better than almost anyone else in the GOP,” Grace Wyler at Business Insider posted these as Gov. Palin’s 10 best one-liners:
Here are the 10 best lines:
1. To CPAC and partiots in the audience: “ We are not here to re-brand a party… We are here to rebuild a country!”
2. ”More background checks? Dandy idea Mr. President. Should’ve started with yours.”
3. On her husband, Todd Palin: ”He’s got the rifle, I’ve got the rack.” [Pulls out Big Gulp]
4. “Mr. President, we admit it. You won. Accept it. Now step away from the teleprompter and do your job.”
5. “We can’t just ignore, though, that we just lost a big election. Yeah. Came in second. Out of two … Second position on a dog sled team is where the view never changes and the view ain’t pretty.”
6. “We don’t have leadership coming out of Washington. We have reality television.”
7. To College Republicans: “I’m so proud of the college Republicans. But I’m a Mama so I have to say, ‘You gotta be thinkin’ Sam Adams… not drinkin’ Sam Adams’”
8. “If these experts keep losing elections, keep raking in millions, if they feel that strongly about who should run in this party they should buck up and run or stay in the truck. The architects can head on back to the Lone Star State and put their name on the ballot.” [Clearly this is a reference to Karl Rove]
9. ”The next election is 20 months away. Now is the time to furlough the consultants, and tune out the pollsters, send the focus groups home and toss the political scripts. Because if we truly know what we believe, we don’t need professionals to tell us.”
10. To Washington consultants:“Get over yourself. It’s not about you.”
10.“Barack Obama promised the most transparent administration ever. Barack Obama — you lie!”
11. To Obama: Crisis after crisis… Now step away from the teleprompter and do your job
12. Remember no drama Obama? Now it is all drama Obama!!
Most everyone knows that the bulk of those in the mainstream media lean left but they now have become so blatantly partisan that it is embarrassing for them, but should also be frightening to every American and lover of freedom! The media must be neutral or at least balanced in its coverage because it is their job to be the watchdog… a fair impartial watchdog. We no longer have that in America. M~
American Media
Ronald Reagan: “Peace through strength!”
Barack Obama: “Turmoil through weakness and apologies”
And last night on the main news outlets 9-minutes were spent demonizing Mitt Romney over his Reaganesque type comments, after reporters colluded to ambush him at a press conference, for standing up and speaking out against our embassies being attacked in Egypt and Libya and 4-Americans being murdered including our Ambassador to Libya. Only 25-seconds were spent on what was actually going on in the Middle East… Are we being had? You be the judge.
Yesterday, as the American consulate in Libya was smoking and the rioters were returning in Egypt, the President of the United States flew off to Las Vegas for a fundraiser while his spokesman was telling the American press corps that yesterday wasn’t really a normal political day. Had it been George W. Bush, the media would, right now, be marching on the White House with pitch forks and torches. Remember, on 9/11, as events were unfolding in Washington, the American media was crying for President Bush to return to Washington. They wanted Daddy at home in the White House where he could tuck them in bed, damn the security issues of getting him there.
I get that Chuck Todd is a former Democrat hill staffer. I get that the Politico is riddled with Democrats, some former activists and a former staffer for Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I get that Michael Scherer from Time magazine is a left wing reporter for Mother Jones and Salon.com turned respectable, “objective” journalist. I get that Ben Smith, leading up Buzz Feed, is a leftwing journalist paraded about as if he is some sort of objective reporter at a trendy site full of cat photos. [Editor's Note: Totally forgot to include Journolist and have updated to include it] I get that precious Ezra Klein started Journolist so reporters and political operatives could collaborate on the news and narrative and now he sits at the Washington Post and gets trotted out as a fact checker. What I really get is that the American media runs with a herd mentality, leans left, and yesterday collectively fell over their group think as they leaned so far left to focus on Mitt Romney and not President Obama. Yesterday, the American media beclowned itself in ways I didn’t really even think was possible, even knowing how in the tank for Barack Obama they are.
Yesterday, the media spent much time condemning the Coptic Christians for their movie, but we now know the movie had been out for months and we also know the riots were orchestrated in advance. We also know the attack on the American consulate in Libya used the riots as cover for the attack.
But the media wanted to focus on Mitt Romney.
Yesterday, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a man who swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America, called an American civilian to ask him to stop exercising his first amendment rights.
But the media wanted to focus on Mitt Romney.
We also now know that the President, close to 60% of the time, has opted for printed intelligence briefings, which this White House thinks are as useful as an intelligence officer in the room who the President can probe, prod, challenge, and question.
But the media wanted to focus on Mitt Romney.
And in focusing on Mitt Romney, finally, of all the places, Slate and Dave Weigel finally point out that Mitt Romney’s gaffe was no gaffe, it was a consistent view of foreign policy foreign to the ears of the political press. He, I, and many others really do think Barack Obama is an apologist. We really do think his speech to Cairo after his entrance to the White House was part of a world apology tour. And we sure as hell think his actions in the past year to foster the Arab Spring were the actions of a naive fool.
But then the media has been playing the naive fool for him.

UPDATE: A friend points out that what the news media is doing here is roughly what they did after Trayvon Martin’s killing. They rushed to judgment, got basic facts wrong, and then sensationalized it with audio experts and what not only to have to beat a path to retreat later.
Comments:
Christine:
Romney did what we hoped he would do - showed some spine and spoke up rather than just sit there or spout pleasantries to the President. We should strongly support that and encourage EVERY Republican to do the same. Speak up. Talk about this, don't just hide in a corner or let the LSM walk on them.
One "journolist" said on Twitter yesterday that Romney's election chances are in trouble because he's somehow offended "the press". These things also should be put out in the daylight for as many as possible to see.
Appearing on Fox News's America Live on Thursday, Daily Beast columnist and Democratic pundit Kirsten Powers ripped the liberal media for expressing more outrage over Mitt Romney's reaction to Tuesday's embassy attacks, than toward the attackers themselves: "I mean, it is just absolutely utterly insane the way that they have elevated this." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]
Powers worried that the blatant bias had "overshadowed any kind of outrage that you would see over the fact that you have Islamic flags being hoisted over American embassies, the fact that an American ambassador is dead."
Acknowledging the Democratic perspective, Powers explained: "...let's just stipulate that, for the sake of argument, that Romney shouldn't have done it [criticized Obama] – I don't agree with that – it still would not explain the obsession with Romney's statement over these horrific events that are unfolding in front of us." Later in the discussion, host Megyn Kelly asked Powers: "You always have to look back at, you know, when detecting media – you know, potential media bias, you look back at what would the media have done if this had happened on George Bush's watch?" Powers denounced the double standard:
Yeah. It would have been completely radically different. Look, like I said, even if you agree that Mitt Romney did something wrong, okay, look at that, but let's also look at the Obama administration. It was just radio silence....why didn't they know that these attacks were coming? Was Obama getting his intelligence briefings? I mean these are the issues that should be being asked and would be being asked if this had happened on George Bush's watch.
Here are portions of the September 13 discussion:
2:36PM ET (...) MEGYN KELLY: And just so our viewers know, what happened was the U.S. embassy, just to refresh you, in Cairo, came out with a statement condemning "the misguided individuals who tried to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims." Then they got attacked and they doubled down on that statement. Mitt Romney came out and criticized the statement, saying, "that's disgraceful that the administration's first response was not to condemn the attacks on the diplomatic mission, but to sympathize with those waging them." Later, Washington pulled back the embassy statement and said we didn't authorize it either. So Kirsten, you wound up having the Obama administration and Mitt Romney agreeing that the embassy statement was not appropriate. And yet, the whole media narrative yesterday was how awful Governor Romney was for pointing it out.
KIRSTEN POWERS: Oh yeah, it's still the media narrative. And the thing is, the outrage that has been expressed over the fact that Mitt Romney put out this statement has even overshadowed any kind of outrage that you would see over the fact that you have Islamic flags being hoisted over American embassies, the fact that an American ambassador is dead. I mean you just are not seeing the same level of outrage over just the process of what time he put the statement out. I mean, it is just absolutely utterly insane the way that they have elevated this. And even if we stipulated, Megyn, let's just stipulate that, for the sake of argument, that Romney shouldn't have done it – I don't agree with that – it still would not explain the obsession with Romney's statement over these horrific events that are unfolding in front of us. (...) KELLY: And Kirsten, you always have to look back at, you know, when detecting media – you know, potential media bias, you look back at what would the media have done if this had happened on George Bush's watch? POWERS: Oh, yeah. KELLY: If we had had these attacks on the embassies and the consulates. POWERS: Yeah. It would have been completely radically different. Look, like I said, even if you agree that Mitt Romney did something wrong, okay, look at that, but let's also look at the Obama administration. It was just radio silence. You know, they allowed that statement to stay up on an embassy web site, which is taken as the official position of the U.S. government. This person was, someone was tweeting from the official account and they didn't – they didn't come out and say a word. So what's that about? And did they know – why didn't they know that these attacks were coming? Was Obama getting his intelligence briefings? I mean these are the issues that should be being asked and would be being asked if this had happened on George Bush's watch. (...) POWERS: One of the things that a lot of liberals are complaining about is they're saying that Mitt Romney attacked Obama, basically saying this was his statement, which of course, we all thought it was the Obama administration's statement because it was on the embassy web site. But even if it wasn't, what has he said that's any different than that? You know, I mean he hasn't used that exact phrasing, but we could not have had a weaker response to this if we just sat around and tried to think of like, what's the weakest thing we could do? And that initial statement was weak, and now we have a continued – the administration coming out and condemning this movie as if the movie caused this attack. The fanatics attacked the embassy. They're going to attack us whether there's a movie or there's not a movie. And they are continuing to do – the sentiment in that original statement continues to be the sentiment of the Obama administration.
Barack Obama has morphed into Jimmy Carter before our eyes, said Brent Bozzel the founder and president of the Media Research Center but the liberal media have refused to report on the Obama Administration’s failed foreign policy of apologies and appeasement. Terrified to hurt Obama’s chances of re-election, they are shamelessly seizing on this horrific attack on Americans abroad to push their go-to narrative that Mitt Romney is tone deaf.
Romney rightly criticized the Obama Administration for its spineless apology to thugs whose idea of ‘diplomacy’ is intimidation, violence and murder. As the façade of the ‘Arab Spring’ continues to fracture and crumble away, the media have shifted to a strategy of distraction and omission.
These are the same media that hailed Obama’s Libya policy as ‘deft’ and proclaimed that his ‘victories’ in the Middle East would ‘burnish his credentials as a world leader.’ NBC’s David Gregory said Obama would ‘use [that] experience as a club against Republicans.’ Instead of letting Obama club the Republicans, the media administered a beating on Romney.
There were two political stories to report yesterday, and the liberal media deliberately chose to amplify the insignificant one because it damaged Romney and helped Obama’s chances to win re-election. The hope is that the American people are a lot smarter than the leftist media gives them credit for.
U.S. identifies anti-Muslim filmmaker - Really… Our government is now identifying film makers, like they did our seal team, to terrorists? And instead of focusing on the problems with our government’s actions, the MSM is deriding Romney’s quick and presidential response and show of strength against the actions, including the murder of our Ambassador, Christopher Stevens, by Muslim terrorists against American Embassies in Egypt and Libya.
Obama was at a fundraiser in Nevada, missing his Intel briefing, instead of dealing with the emergency and virtually simultaneously announced he would be appearing on Letterman in New York on the same day that he said he could not work a meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu if Israel into his schedule. But now the White House is bad-mouthing Governor Romney and the media is covering Obama’s inept back. Hello? What am I missing? Americans get attacked, Barack Hussein Obama apologizes, Romney calls Obama on it and the media says Romney made a gaffe? And want him to apologize… What?
Again… Ronald Reagan said “Peace through strength!” Mitt Romney is following suit! Obama and Hillary are still apologizing… the last time we had very similar circumstances was when the last appeasement president, Jimmy Carter, was in the White House and Iranian terrorists took over the American Embassy in Iran. The American people elected Ronald Reagan soon thereafter and all the prisoners were quickly released… something that weak Carter could not negotiate. Hmmm… sounding familiar?
If you are interested in the truth or at least both sides of an argument make sure that you add Fox News, The Blaze now on Dish 212 and a variety of perspectives from online blogs to your news intake… If you are watching and getting all your news from CNN, PBS, ABC, CBS, NBC or MSNBC you are only seeing the news from a left-wing perspective and from what you can see from above… a lot is missing or skewed.
