Conservatism on the Rise

By Marion Algier – Ask Marion

Just hours after the latest temporary Washington ‘can kicking’ settlement of our budget and debt negotiations, ending the shutdown and averting the most recent contrived Obama administration crisis, the President took the opportunity to scold congressional Republicans on Thursday, stating that Americans are completely fed-up with Washington… as if it does not include him!  But then he called on his opponents to help repair the economic damage… caused by this administration’s endless spending and crisis type management-style. Yet to hear Obama and the Progressive Democrats on the Hill, it is somehow all the Republican’s doing, a scenario that is becoming tougher and tougher to sell!

The New York Post:  Top Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett -- dubbed "The Night Stalker" by some staff because of her close ties to the First Family -- has been called the "architect" of the recent government shutdown showdown, claims author Edward Klein.

Obama adviser ‘architect’ of showdown: author

President Obama’s top adviser Valerie Jarrett was behind a plan to force a showdown with Republicans over ObamaCare as part of a strategy to regain Democratic control of the House next year, claims author Ed Klein.

Klein — who wrote a provocative biography about Obama last year entitled “The Amateur (Kindle)” — said White House insiders refer to Jarrett as “The Night Stalker” because she is the only presidential aide who frequently spends time in the family quarters and dines with the Obamas.

Klein, who is conducting a research for a new Obama tome scheduled for next spring, called Jarrett the “architect” of Obama’s take-no- prisoners approach when it comes to his signature domestic policy initiative.

It was Jarrett who advised Obama that voters would mostly blame Republicans if the federal government ground to a halt, providing a golden opportunity to swing back control of the House to Democrats in the 2014 mid-term elections, according to Klein.

A Democratic House would give Obama an opportunity to pass immigration and other legislation blocked by the current Republican majority.

“It was during one of those nightly sessions that Jarrett devised the no-negotiating strategy that Obama has employed in his fight with the GOP over the government shutdown,” Klein said, citing sources within the administration.

“Valerie came up with the concept late at night, after the kids and grandma and were gone.”

“She convinced the president that a government shutdown and default offered a great opportunity to demonize the Republicans and help the Democrats win back a majority in the House of Representatives in 2014 .

. . Valerie also came with the idea of using the words `hostage’, and `ransom,’ and `terrorists’ against the Republicans,’” Klein said.

Jarrett, who like the Obamas hails from Chicago, has deep ties to the president, First Lady Michelle and the extended family.

“Everyone in the Beltway knew Valerie Jarrett was influential. They didn’t know how influential she was,” said Klein, who interviewed more than a half dozen White House and former presidential advisers about the shutdown strategy.

“Her power derived from one simple fact — proximity, No one except Michelle Obama is closer to the president than Valerie,” Klein quoted Democratic power broker Vernon Jordan as saying. Jordan’s wife is a cousin of Jarrett.

Jarrett is the one who advised Obama “do not cooperate one iota on ObamaCare. Don’t given an inch. Let the Republicans stew in their own juice,“ Klein said.

“The Republicans walked into a trap set up by Valerie Jarrett and President Obama, The Republicans are in an untenable position,” he added.

Klein said Jarrett is the conscience of the administration, “the keeper of the flame” who reminds Obama why he wanted to become president.  (Some would say that Jarrett is the defacto president…)

“The government shutdown is about protecting ObamaCare, yes. But it’s much larger than that. It’s about the 2014 House elections,” said Klein.

The White House had no immediate comment.

Governor Sarah Palin joined Megyn Kelly later in the day on Thursday to say that conservatism is on the rise and more energized than ever:

Video: Gov. Palin joins Megyn Kelly on the Kelly File 10-17-2013

Klein is correct in his assertion that it is all about the 2014 Election and everyone on both sides realizes that 2014 could be the last stand election for conservative principles and will definitely lay the groundwork for 2016, so Palin is correct when she says that conservatives are energized.  This is the moment in time for Americans to choose and take action. And regardless of the negative spin being promoted by the White House, many Americans took a deeper look at what was really going on in Washington because of the efforts of conservatives like Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul, Governor Sarah Palin and the tea party coalition in the House. Surprise analysis also shows that all 50 states are actually shifting toward conservatism?!?

Governor Palin is freshly off a campaign swing for Steve Lonegan, followed by a swing through Washington D.C. to support the veterans who had been blocked from the memorials during the shutdown. Lonegan lost to Democrat Cory Booker on Wednesday, to fill the vacated Senate seat in New Jersey, but at a closer glance, it really was a victory for conservatism.

Democrats outnumber Republicans 7 to 1 in voter registration in the State of New Jersey and about a month ago polls showed Booker beating Lonegan by 35%.  After some help by Sarah Palin who was joined by some friends like Mark Levin, Booker won by only 10%, an amazing turn around in a state where Dems outnumber Republicans 7 to 1 during the shutdown when the Obamabots in the mainstream media were hammering the American people with mistruths, distortions, name-calling and down right lies about the GOP and conservatives in general, especially tea party types.

Palin has been dubbed the Kingmaker by people like Ted Cruz and others that she has helped bring to victory or close in situations like Lonegan’s, and the Palin effect seems to be continuing.  Another fact to consider is that only around 1.3 million people went to the polls out of 5.5 million registered voters in New Jersey, a turnout of roughly 24% — the lowest for a state election in New Jersey since 1924, a fact that should worry the Democrats.

What is the old saying?:  You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time… and as the ugliness and truth of ObamaCare unfolds, there may be a lot less people buying what Obama, Jarrett and the Progressives are selling!

Books, Knowledge, History, Memories… How Erasing Them Changes Cultures, Countries, The World - Updated

By Marion Algier – AskMarion

A little while back, I wrote about how our children and future generations can’t miss or value what they don’t know, what they don’t understand and what they never even learned or heard about.  This is obviously common sense as well as the basis for the American Progressive movement, which has roots in Socialism, Fabianism, Marxism and a long list of other “isms” whose leaders all knew if you can strip away people’s allegiance to Country, Family and Religion you can reprogram the upcoming youth and the disenfranchised to follow the newest version of the power elitists’ plan whatever it is… right now it is globalism, and our government is full of Progressives who have been united in the dumbing down and manipulation of the populace of America for several generations now.

When you talk to Millenials most don’t know much about history, American or otherwise, most don’t go to church, and most don’t even know much about the background of their own families which generally includes a lack of solid holiday and personal traditions.

Then we, people who know history, love America and the Constitution, go to church or synagogue etc., and who value and want to pass on their family, American, and religious values and holiday traditions scratch our heads when younger people don’t understand why those are important; why they only read escapist and fictional (often dark) books and movies… if they read at all; and why they don’t believe in God or think it is a big deal when a Christmas Tree, Menorah, or worse yet a copy of our Constitution or the Ten Commandments can no longer be displayed in public buildings or the local town square.

We, from the ‘The Greatest Generation’ to the Baby-boomers to the parents right now missed the boat.  Everyone was too busy to notice that what made America great and what kept us free and united was being stripped out of our educational system, our activities and our daily lives and was being replaced my mind-numbing activities that were often more fun or just distracting yet often smattered with underlying anti-traditional messages or Propaganda… a book (Kindle)…  by Edward Bernays that is a must read for everyone.  We stopped talking to each other about things that matter and we stopped passing on to the each next  generation what was important to us both personally and collectively, but the Progressives were busy filling the vacuum.  And with all the new media, what mattered most has virtually been lost, re-written or replaced in the minds and lives of many in the present and will be lost to most in future generations.

Instead of teaching our children how to dream, how to think critically, how to search for knowledge, how to believe in things that are not always tangible tangible (from God to Santa Claus) and how to find the magic in the every day things of life, like bookstores, by both sharing from each of our hearts, histories and memories and by being an example, we are relegating our children to learn from educators who think individual and critical thinking are passé, from an American media who promote sex, violence and propaganda for our government, and from each other… a generation raised on social media, video games and often with little ‘live’ social interaction.  And instead of promoting our kids to develop their imaginations, which can lead to the development of future writers, movie-makers, inventors and even scientists, we are stifling their creativity by putting them into socialistic-style schools which promote conformity so everyone will think, act and be alike, so not to hurt anyone’s feelings. And we are robbing children as young as kindergartners of their time of innocence and beauty and replacing it with sex-education (awareness) classes that produce confusion and ugliness for psyches far too young to have to deal with that topic.

Recently I came across the article Views – The Wonders of Bookstores (below) by novelist Richard Russo.  It is this kind of love for knowledge, tradition (including types of medium) and special places and memories that we are no longer cultivating:

Views: The Wonder of Bookstores

Novelist Richard Russo pays homage to the shop where he fell in love with reading — and to the crucial role bookstores can still play in our lives.

The first great bookstore in my life wasn’t really a bookstore. Alvord and Smith was located on North Main Street in Gloversville, N.Y., and if memory serves, they referred to themselves as stationers. I don’t recall the place being air-conditioned, but it was always dark and cool inside, even on a sweltering summer day. In addition to a small selection of books, the store sold stationery, diaries, journals, and high-end fountain and ballpoint-pen sets, as well as drafting and art supplies. The shelves went up and up the walls, and I remember wondering what was in the cardboard boxes beyond my reach. The same things on the shelves below? Other, undreamed-of wonders? Alvord and Smith was a store for people who—though I couldn’t have articulated it at the time—had aspirations beyond life in a grungy mill town. It was never busy.

Because she worked all week, my mother and I ran errands on Saturday mornings, and Alvord and Smith was usually our first stop. There, I’d plop down on the floor in front of the bottom two shelves where the children’s books were displayed: long, uniform phalanxes of the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries, as well as the lesser-known but, to my mind, superior Ken Holt and Rick Brant series. I can still remember the thrill of coming upon that elusive number 11 or 17 in my favorite series, the one I’d been searching for for years, now magically there, where it hadn’t been the week before, filling me with wonder at the way the world worked, how you had to wait to the point of almost unbearable longing for the good stuff in life.

Coming out of Alvord and Smith, blinking in the sunlight, you could see all the way down Main Street to South Main, where the gin mills and pool hall were. Outside these stood dusky, shiftless, idle men, flexing at the knees and whistling at the pretty women who passed by. Occasionally my father was among them. Later, when I turned 18, I would join him in those same dives. Like the stationery store, they were cool and dark and mysterious, and for a while I preferred them, though I never really belonged. That’s what I’d felt as a boy, sitting on the floor at Alvord and Smith, touching, lovingly, the spines of books: Here was a place I belonged.

Many people love good bookstores, but writers? We lose our heads over them. We tell stories about them. We form lifelong attachments to our favorites. We do not hate e-books—well, okay, some of us do—but we owe our careers, at least my generation of writers do, to the great independents, so many of them long gone now. Those that remain gamely continue to fight the good fight, even as customers increasingly treat their stores as showrooms, then go home and surrender to the online retailer’s chilly embrace. They point and click and, without meaning to, undermine the next generation of writers and the one after that. Because it’s independent booksellers who always get the word out (as they did for me).

I’m an old fart, of course, more at home with paper and print than touch screens, and yes, I agree with those who argue that in the end it’s more about the message than the medium. But to me bookstores remain places of wonder. Like libraries, they’re the physical manifestation of the world’s longest, most thrilling conversation. The people who work in them will tell you who’s saying what. If you ask, they’ll tell you what Richard Russo’s up to in his new one, but more important, they’ll put in your hand something you just have to read, by someone you’ve never heard of, someone just entering the conversation, who wants to talk to you about things that matter.

Excerpted from My Bookstore: Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Browse, Read, and Shop (Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers). Richard Russo’s latest book is Elsewhere: A Memoir (Kindle).

Online media… from novels to textbooks can be lost, changed and rewritten over-night.  In fact at many of the colleges and universities, the professors now have the ability to edit the books online that they assign to their students without notice.  That should be frightening to everyone!  Instead of teaching from original sources we are allowing liberal professors, or professors of any bent, to re-write any authors’ works.

And what about photos… How many people do you know that no longer print their photos and somewhere along the way have lost every single one because they weren’t backed up?

And the art of letter writing, keeping journals or even sending a quick handwritten note with a card or photo is almost extinct.  Yet how many beautiful and tragic histories would we not know if someone hadn’t kept a bundle of love letters (Kindle) or found the diary of a little girl named Anne Frank (Kindle)?

What if over night the grids we are all connected to mysteriously go off line, through a manmade or natural disaster?  What would you have left if every form of media and communication you have and had was on your computer, your phone, your a kindle type device?  Verses… what would you have left is you had printed photos, printed books, handwritten letters and journals?  It is certainly something to ponder!!  One only needs to watch Mad Max (Trilogy) or The Book of Eli [Blu-ray] to promote that thought process…

If you look at every aspect of American life, you will see the changes and many not for the better. It has been a process that has been going on for a long time, but with the election of Obama and the appointments of his like minded-administration, the process has been accelerated not only in speed, but into a final phase. Below is just a short reminder list or where we are and what has changed:

Things we thought to be impossible in America are now daily events and the window to change all this is becoming ever smaller!  For anyone who doesn’t believe that just checkout these Headlines from the past 24-hour news cycle:

Yet most people, unless they watch Fox Cable News, Fox Cable Business News, TheBlazeTV (on TV or online) or get the information from the blogs and Internet.  It has gotten so bad that even liberal Jon Stewart said on Obamacare’s Sebelius: ‘Maybe She is Just Lying to Me!?!’

And if there is any hope of turning this cycle around it lies in the laps of grandparents, concerned parents do know and see what is going on, patriotic American willing to stand up at every opportunity, history buffs, educators who haven’t been brainwashed and pulled into the Common Core myth and the religious community who need to engage our youth, our children and adults willing to listen immediately.

Chief IRS council William Wilkins helped Rev. Wright’s church get out of probe

For anyone who really still thinks there is no connection between the IRS and the White House… as the administration tried to sell America on this past weekend, read this:

Obaman and WrightFireAndreaMitchell.com: Now-chief counsel of the IRS, William Wilkins helped (Obama’s friend, mentor and pastor of 20-years) Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his church get out of an IRS probe in 2008. William Wilkins was working as a private attorney at the time. I’m sure this yet another amazing coincidence, isn’t it Hussein?

William Wilkins, then a WilmerHale law firm partner, said, “We were so interested in the case we offered to do it pro bono.”

Lowe wrote that Wilkins and other firm lawyers worked with the church’s national counsel, Donald Clark, and proved they had invited Obama to the event before he announced his candidacy for president. “Evidence presented in a letter sent to the IRS in late March pointed to ground rules the organization had established for Obama’s visit; the church even cautioned churchgoers against engaging in any political activity,” Lowe wrote. “Had the IRS pursued the matter, it would have raised serious questions about the First Amendment’s application to church activities, Wilkins says.”

When President Obama nominated Wilkins to be the IRS’s chief counsel on April 17, 2009, his White House cited Wilkins’ experience as an attorney on issues relating to tax-exempt status organization. “He has a broad tax practice that includes counseling nonprofit organizations, business entities, and investment funds on tax compliance, business transactions, and government investigations,” according to the White House release announcing Wilkins’ nomination.

Will the Amnesty Bill Lead to Gun Confiscation in 2035?

logo

Gun Owners of America

Turning America "blue" could lead to California-style gun control

"Immigration reform, including a form of Amnesty, could be a bonanza for Democrats [and] cripple Republican prospects in many states they now win easily." - Politico, April 22, 2013

In 1984, California was sufficiently conservative so that it cast its electoral votes for President Ronald Reagan. It was not fiercely pro-gun, but, then again, it wasn't New York.

But, in 1986, Reagan signed an immigration amnesty bill, called Simpson-Mazzoli. The bill was small compared to the current amnesty bill. Three million illegals benefited.

But that was enough to change California from a sometimes "swing state" to a state almost wholly controlled by Leftists. Within 20 years - and continuing to this day - California couldn't pass enough gun bans, gun registration, ammunition limits, and ammunition registration.

So it is with some concern that Chuck Schumer's amnesty bill (S. 744) which is currently on the table would cover 11,000,000 to 20,000,000 illegal aliens - four to seven times the size of the Simpson-Mazzoli bill.

We predict that, if the bill is passed, by 2035, the American electorate will have changed so fundamentally that California-style gun control could become a very real possibility in this country!

We know you're tired. We have just fought a hard-fought battle over explicit gun control in the Senate - a battle which we won.

But it does strike us as interesting that the same gun control crazies who pushed gun control want to slam immigration amnesty through the Senate quickly so they can redirect their fire against us again.

Who are the chief architects of forging a more anti-gun electorate? Well, the chief sponsor of S. 744 is Chuck Schumer, and he is joined by other Second Amendment haters such as Dick Durbin (D-IL), Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and compromiser John McCain (R-AZ).

Over the next week or so, we'll let you in on some of the anti-gun specifics of Schumer's "amnesty bill," as it's correctly dubbed. But for starters, the bill would push us towards a biometric ID card, which is something that GOA has opposed for years - given that a de facto National ID poses a huge threat to gun owners' privacy.

But then there's the fact that Schumer's "amnesty bill" requires the government to give its okay - in a Brady Gun Check-type procedure - before you could get a private job in America (section 3(c)(2)(A)(iii)). Does anyone not see why this might be a problem?

We've just gone through excruciating pain to stop the expansion of Brady Checks for guns. Now we turn around and the same parties who were pushing that are now pushing Brady Checks for private jobs.

It's ironic that those pushing for background checks are adamantly against ID's for voting because that would disenfranchise the elderly, the poor, and minorities. Hmm, so they do understand that background checks - as a prior restraint - are a fundamentally flawed concept?

But this is where the real fun starts. You feed the potential employee's info into a government database and, according to Senator Durbin, "up pops a picture." And, says Durbin, "if that picture doesn't match [the one on your ID], you may not be employed."

The Brady Check deals with a list of names which is in the millions. It deals only with things like names and social security numbers, not pictures. Yet it gives "false negatives" 8% of the time. And if you're one of those 8% who are illegally denied a gun, the FBI's response, more often than not, is "So sue us." If this weren't bad enough, the system breaks down for days at a time - normally the times when the most people need it.

Do we really want to expand this flawed concept to other areas of our lives?

If this weren't bad enough, we know that, once the government has to give its approval before you can do something, it's an almost iron-clad guarantee that it will exercise that power in a political manner. Under the Brady Check system, 165,000 law-abiding honorable veterans have lost their gun rights, not because they have done anything wrong, but because they sought counseling from the VA on the basis of a traumatic experience in the military.

Watching Schumer explain on the Senate floor why those veterans should lose their constitutional rights without any court order - while he vigilantly defends due process for foreign terrorists - is like watching a dung beetle drag its "prey" back to its lair.

So we know 165,000 non-politically correct veterans lost their gun rights under Brady Checks. Who will become politically incorrect unemployable non-persons under Brady Checks for Jobs?

Now, one would think that the fact that one million people in Boston were put under house arrest last week because our current immigration system allowed two asylum-seekers from terrorist-filled Chechnya to become legal residents and, in one case, a citizen of our country, will put the skids on the "inevitability" of Schumer's amnesty bill. After all, gun control was "inevitable" too.

But the bottom line is this: Just as we saw the gun ramifications of ObamaCare, we will also see the problems with a bill that alters the electorate in such a way that the Second Amendment will cease to exist. In doing so, we will need to make sure that we don't have most of our guns registered or confiscated in 2035 because short-sighted politicians listened to MSNBC and turned our country blue.

But we will also make sure that we do not take bad gun law and turn it into bad employment law.

ACTION: Click here to contact your Senators and ask them to oppose the anti-gun Schumer amnesty bill (S. 744).

The Council Has Spoken!! This Week’s Watcher’s Council Results – 04.26.13

JoshuaPundit on Apr 26 2013 at 2:41 am:

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and we have the results for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up!!

This week’s winner, The Right Planet’s Rush for Judgement: The All-Star ‘’Calumnists’’ of the MSM is a sharp, well written examination of how Alinsky’s principles permeate the media in a real life version of Orwell’s Two Minute Hate…and coins a new word in the process! Here’s a slice:

Following the 2011 Tuscon shooting, I predicted the left-wing media would jump on the opportunity to use the horrific crime as an opportunity to further their political goals. I just have seen this behavior from radical leftists for too long now. It is completely predictable. Oh, and they didn’t let me down, either. Not only did they “not let me down,” it was way beyond even what I thought possible, in terms of vicious audacity and outright buffoonery.

If you might recall, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party were blamed for the 2011 shooting in Tuscon, which resulted in six deaths and one wounded, as well as former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-D) being critically injured. At the time, the preposterous notion was fomented by the progressive media that target reticule symbols printed on Palin’s campaign literature somehow influenced the shooter, Jared Loughner, to commit a heinous multiple murder.

Just so we’re all on the same page, here’s a prime example of some of the (usual) ridiculous linkages and rhetoric by the left that was being bantered about by the deranged left in their all-out effort to smear Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.

Via freakedoutxenophobes.com:

After the tragic fatal shooting of six people yesterday, half-governor Sarah Palin’s supporters are scrambling more than Michael Vick trying to escape Justin Tuck’s clutches in order to make an excuse for Palin’s pathetic use of crosshairs in an ad for the 2010 midterm elections which targeted 20 Democratic Representatives who voted for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Fast forward to the Aurora movie theater mass shooting. The media was quick to “rush to judgment” and blame, once again, the Tea Party.

Politico reported:

ABC’s Brian Ross reported this morning that there is “a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea party site… talking about him joining the Tea Party last year.”

Ross later apologized for his rash conclusions. But it was too little too late.

Of course, we can’t forget the unimaginable horror of the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre which saw scores of children shot dead by madman Adam Lanza. Yet, like clockwork, the mainstream-media went into hyper-drive and blamed the NRA and the nation’s legal gun-owners for the appalling atrocity. It’s just utter nonsense, yet this is what passes for journalism from our state-run press these days—ruthless left-wing agitprop and unadulterated leftist political advocacy.

Is there ever any respect or period of observable mourning for the dead and the victims of these awful crimes by the mainstream-media? If there is any mention of the victims by the MSM, it is only an effort to further a political cause via emotional appeal—like so-called “gun control,” for example—otherwise tributes and memorials to the victims are cast aside as “not viable” for promoting the cause—which is the only the liberal media cares about … nothing can supersede the struggle.

Now consider what just happened in Boston. Instantly the vile spinsters of leftist agitprop (i.e. MSM) went immediately to work to try and link, once again, the bombing of innocent Americans at Monday’s Boston Marathon to “right-wing” groups. MSNBC’s resident socialist Larry O’Donnell even went so far as to blame the NRA for helping the Boston bombers get away.

Oh, it doesn’t end there. I’m just getting started. So buckle up. As a matter of fact, while researching this post, I found so many glaring examples of frothing progressive liberals in the media and the state-run press eager to “rush to judgment” and blame “white people” and so-called “right-wing groups” for the bombings in Boston that I can’t include it all here. It would takes days, weeks, months … maybe even years.

In our non-Council category, the winner was Michael Totten’s The Beginning of the End for Hezbollah submitted by Joshuapundit. It’s yet another of Totten’s fine pieces on Lebanon, and in it he explores the changing dynamic enveloping the terrorist group Hezbollah.Do read it.

Adrift at Sea

Cruisin for a Bruisin

“Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed.” Friedrich Nietzsche

AskMarion: The similarities between the horrific voyage of the Carnival Triumph and the tragic voyage of the dysfunctional ship of state we call America are many. We have a ruling class consisting of the President, Congress, Judiciary, Central bankers, Media titans, and goliath corporation CEOs who care not for the citizens of this country. You are ignorant peasants in their eyes. They only care about maintaining and expanding their wealth, control and power through the complete capture of our financial markets, political system and media propaganda to the masses. The health and welfare of the peasants isn’t even on their radar screen. The ruling class steering this ship of fools have no interest in the truth or the best long – erm interests of the country. The vast majority of the passengers on this impaired listing ship prefers to believe the propaganda and lies spewed by the captain and his minions. They prefer the illusion of safety and security to the truth about the real condition of this ship. When the engines of this ship come to a grinding halt, their illusions will be shattered. Big government will come up small when it counts. The government propaganda and public relations will be revealed as nothing but hot putrid air and fecal matter.

Speaking of fecal matter, President Obama’s State of the Union address, which was watched by 33 million (down from 52 million in 2009) believers, was a perfect reflection of the thinking that led to the Carnival Triumph disaster. The reality facing the country is: $220 trillion of unfunded entitlement liabilities; a $16.5 trillion national debt; annual deficits exceeding $1 trillion; 48 million citizens on food stamps; 11 million people on SSDI; a true unemployment rate of 23%; true inflation exceeding 5%; record high gasoline prices; 0% interest rates for senior citizen savers; free money for criminal bankers provided by their sugar daddy Bernanke; not one criminal prosecution of a Wall Street executive for the greatest financial fraud in history; a war department that spends $1 trillion per year and fights undeclared wars around the world; a chief executive that invokes dictatorial executive orders to murder Americans with his fleet of predator drones and imprison citizens indefinitely without charges; and a bureaucratic nightmare called Obamacare that will drive up deficits, drive up healthcare costs for every family, enrich the healthcare industrial complex, drive doctors into retirement, and drive small businesses into bankruptcy.

Rather than deal with this reality, Obama chose the Carnival Cruise Line method of public relations, misinformation, denial and delusion. He has embraced the Big Lie concept as if he had created it. With a straight face he proposes “investments” in infrastructure, new jobs programs, new education initiatives, more green energy projects, pollution control schemes, bailing out more underwater mortgages, and raising the minimum wage, all done for the children – and it won’t add one cent to the deficit. Instead of leveling with the American people and explaining the dire economic issues confronting our nation that require sacrifice, reality based thinking, and tough choices, we got more platitudes, class warfare, divide and conquer, phantom spending cuts, disingenuous twisting of the truth, intellectual dishonesty and fuzzy math. Public relations spin created by Madison Avenue maggots and pronounced grandly by corrupt puppet politician hacks will not prevent the catastrophic engine failure that will leave this country adrift in a sea of its own feces.

Our cruise of illusions and delusions is headed for troubled water. The math challenged citizens on this ship have been enjoying the 24 hour pizza buffet without the labor required to pay for the bounty. When your leaders boldly lie and tell you we don’t have a spending problem, refer to proposed spending increases as “investments”, and hail $1.6 trillion of spending cuts that did not happen, you’ve got a ship that will be signaling SOS in the imminent future. Both political parties are laughable in their blathering about spending cuts as Bush and his Republican cronies drove spending from $1.9 trillion in 2001 to $3.0 trillion in 2008 with their unfunded wars, unfunded new entitlements (Medicare Part D), Wall Street bailouts, and creation of police state agencies (DHS); while Obama and his Democrat co-conspirators have driven spending up to $3.8 trillion in four years with new unfunded entitlements (Obamacare), expansion of warfare in the Middle East (they sit on top of “our” oil), $800 billion stimulus handouts, $60 billion hurricane relief pork handed out for $25 billion of uninsured losses, and bailing out banks, auto companies, homeowners, and other gamblers who took undo risks and lost to the tune of hundreds of billions. Politicians and the inhabitants of this country have forgotten there are consequences to their actions and inactions.

Carnival Cruise Line is trying to buy off the passengers with refunds and $500 bribes to keep them quiet and sedated, while protecting their continued hundreds of millions in profits and million dollar bonuses for their executives. The ruling class in the United States has bought off the American people with entitlement promises that can’t possibly be honored, food stamps, SSDI, tax rebates, homebuyer tax credits, loan modification programs, Cash for Clunkers, payroll tax cuts, $1 trillion of taxpayer financed student loans, taxpayer financed subprime auto loans, and a myriad of other handouts designed to keep the masses sedated, while the ruling class continues to pillage the national wealth. It’s as if the entire country has been charging their food, drinks, excursions, and purchases to their room number and the bill has reached $16.5 trillion, rising by $3 billion per day. This voyage is reaching an end and the bill is coming due. The engine is on fire but the captain is telling us all is well. Eventually, everyone will know the captain lied.

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

CBS Scot Paulsen on "2016: The Movie"

This past week, "2016: The Movie" about President Barack Obama opened in the Chicago area, and I chose to get more of an education about Obama by seeing the movie. After the inundation of canned hype for the movie on conservative talk shows across the Chicago radio dial that sounded more like commercials than honest endorsements of the movie, I was skeptical of what I was going to see.

While some talk show hosts sounded like they were genuinely impressed with the documentary and honestly endorsing the film, there were those who were obviously reading a commercial script which was not coming across as sincere to the regular listener - at least not to this often-skeptical listener. Perhaps, in future promotions of the film, it would be wise to have pre-recorded commercials done by the professional commercial-makers rather than having the likes of Mark Levin and Sean Hannity doing script after script to promote the movie. After all, the listeners aren't stupid and resent any attempt at being conned. After many reads by the talk show hosts, the readings of the commercial script were no more enthusiastic than another Life-Lock commercial read - another commercial that ought to be professionally done.

Yet, I'm glad I saw the hyped-film because it was more informative than I had thought it would be and included less propaganda than I had predicted. If anything, it was nearly too informative as there was an enormous amount of information condensed into the nearly one-hour-and-a-half documentary. Fact after fact is put forth which shows that President Obama definitely has many skeletons in the closet that have not been released prior to the nation's trust in him with the Oval Office.

To watch this movie and realize - or simply be reminded of - all that is unknown about President Obama is of concern. Much of the information has been ignored by the American media totally. When appropriately reminded as to what is still unknown about Obama to date, one has to ask: How can any logical-thinking person give a damn about Romney's taxes while not asking any questions regarding our current President's past? The man influences the entire globe, but liberal Americans want to know how much Mitt Romney paid in taxes in the past rather than learn about the man who they have entrusted with the country. Unbelievable.

The movie undeniably links Obama to persons of suspicious-interest due to their past actions and statements, such as former radical activist and Chicago educator Bill Ayers. While the media and blinded-liberals cast such facts aside, the movie does not. No, this portion of the movie is not propaganda - it is the display of factual information about relationships between people that cannot be denied. Yet, the "left" does deny the facts that are right in front of them.

Quite disturbing is the talk of the United States economy in the film. The current national debt which has increased two-fold during Obama's presidency and the horrendous economy is suggested to be part of the plan to strip the nation of democracy - reasonable cause to make citizens totally dependent on the government. The "left" is aghast at this suggestion of the current economy. They actually believe that Obama is unintelligent enough to let this economy just happen. Ironically, it's many of the people on the "right" who know Obama's not stupid, and much of what has happened to the United States in the past four years is part of Obama's plan.

How could one so-highly educated and intelligent as Obama not know what he was doing when he incurred such debt? I left the movie thinking more strongly than I had in the past that the current debt and this economy was part of Obama's plan all along. Increasingly making Americans dependent on the government is the plan. What's more, he knew his blind followers would believe it was not the plan and, of course, was all Bush's fault.

He must be laughing at his blind followers all the way to the "new America " they're allowing him to create. My belief is that Obama continues to prey on his die-hard followers' stupidity to accomplish his personal goals for America .

The most disturbing part of the film to me was the interview with President Obama's half-brother George Obama from Nairobi , Kenya . How can Obama claim to want to help people when he has done absolutely nothing for his own family? It makes me wonder if he really cares about anybody if he can't find it in his heart to help his own family.

As the closing credits started to role upward across the screen, the audience applauded. Me, I just walked out - reasonably upset.

Those who have already decided to vote for Obama will probably not even see the movie. It's sad but they probably don't want to know the truth when it is laid out so clearly for them in this documentary. The independents who are still deciding who they are going to vote for ought to see this film. I'm quite confident that any undecided voter who sees this film will know who to vote for after viewing this documentary. If you know you're not going to support the "left" in this coming election, see the film out of interest if you like. But, fair warning, it's disturbing - and quite frightening - to say the least.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

…Marcus Tullius Cicero [ancient Roman scholar, lawyer, statesman and orator 106BC - 43BC]

------------

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive an Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of Idiots such as those who made him their president."

The Washington Examiner:

First lady Michelle Obama told the Democratic National Convention that "Barack and I were both raised by families who didn't have much in the way of money or material possessions."

It is a claim the president has repeated in his books, on the speech-making circuit and in countless media interviews. By his account, he grew up in a broken home with a single mom, struggled for years as a child in an impoverished Third World country and then was raised by his grandparents in difficult circumstances.

The facts aren't nearly so clear-cut.

Ann Dunham was just 18 years old when she gave birth to Obama. She was a freshman at the University of Hawaii. His Kenyan father, Barack Hussein Obama Sr., was a few years older than Ann. They were married against family wishes. (There are others who believe that they were never married at all, no marriage certificate has been found and still others who believe that Obama’s real father is Frank Marshall Davis and that they only said the father was Obama Sr. to help him extend his student visa and because Davis was a registered Communist and had porn issues… you be the judge.)

Obama Sr. does not appear to have been welcoming or compassionate toward his new wife or son. It later turned out that he was secretly married to a Kenyan woman back home at the same time he fathered the young Obama.

He abandoned Obama Jr.'s mother when the boy was 1. In 1964, Dunham filed for a divorce that was not contested. Her parents helped to raise the young Obama.

Obama's mother met her second husband, an Indonesian named Lolo Soetoro, while working at the East-West Center in Hawaii. They married, and in 1967, the young Obama, then known as Barry Soetoro, traveled to Indonesia with his mother when the Indonesian government recalled his stepfather.

In Indonesia, the family's circumstances improved dramatically. According to Obama in his autobiography "Dreams from My Father," Lolo's brother-in-law was "making millions as a high official in the national oil company." It was through this brother-in-law that Obama's stepfather got a coveted job as a government relations officer with the Union Oil Co.

The family then moved to Menteng, then and now the most exclusive neighborhood of Jakarta, where bureaucrats, diplomats and economic elites reside.
A popular Indonesia travel site describes Menteng: "Designed by the Dutch Colonial Government in 1920s, Menteng still retains its graceful existence with its beautiful parks, cozy street cafes and luxurious housing complexes."

In 1971, his mother sent young Obama back to Hawaii, where his grandmother, Madelyn, known as Toots, would become one of the first female vice presidents of a Honolulu bank. His grandfather was in sales.

Obama's grandparents moved the same year into Punahou Circle Apartments, a sleek new 10-story apartment building just five blocks from the private Punahou School, which Obama would attend from 1971 to 1979.

Obama explains in "Dreams from My Father" that his admission to Punahou began "the start of something grand, an elevation in the family status that they took great pains to let everyone know."

To his credit, Obama did not downplay Punahou's upscale status, noting in his autobiography that it "had grown into a prestigious prep school, an incubator for island elites. Its reputation had helped sway my mother in her decision to send me back to the States."

Obama also admitted in the book that his grandfather pulled strings to get him into the school. "There was a long waiting list, and I was considered only because of the intervention of Gramps's boss, who was an alumnus."

The school still features a lush hillside campus overlooking the Waikiki skyline and the Pacific Ocean. It was one of the most expensive schools on the island, and both Obama and his half sister Maya Soetoro-Ng received scholarships.

While the Dunhams were not among the wealthiest families on the island, he nevertheless studied and socialized with the children of the social and financial elite. Obama has said he didn't fit in at the school. But that's not how other Hawaiians remember it.

Associated Press writer Sudhin Thanawala reported from Honolulu in 2008 that "classmates and teachers say Obama blended in well. He served on the editorial board of the school's literary magazine, played varsity basketball and sang in the choir. He went on the occasional date."

In his recent book "Barack Obama: The Story," Washington Post reporter David Maraniss said the future chief executive often smoked marijuana with prep school friends, rolling up the car windows to seek "total absorption," or "TA." They called themselves the "Choom Gang."

Edward Shanahan, a retired newspaper journalist who now edits downstreet.net and makes no effort to conceal his admiration for Obama, retraced his Hawaii years shortly after the president was elected.

Shanahan wrote that Obama lived in a "well-off neighborhood near the University of Hawaii where Barry, as he was known, resided in a comfortable home with his mother and her parents before she took him to Indonesia."

Sanahan said "our tour ended up on the lush, exquisitely maintained and altogether inviting campus of Punahou School, which we can imagine was a place of great comfort for Obama."

Tellingly, Obama has never lived in a black neighborhood. Maraniss reported in his book that when leftist activist Jerry Kellman interviewed Obama for a community organizing job in Chicago, he asked Obama how he felt about living and working in the black community for the first time in his life.

Obama accepted the job but chose not to live among those he would be organizing. Instead, he commuted 90 minutes each way daily from his apartment in Chicago's famous Hyde Park to the Altgeld Gardens housing project where he worked.

It was an early instance of Obama presenting himself one way while acting in quite a different way.
