The Fascist Boogie Fever

clip_image001_thumb[1]

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton - The NoisyRoom

All hail, or should we say ‘heil,’ the rise of the Golden Dawn fascists in Greece. It’s all the rage (literally) in the streets of Greece these days. They now hold 21 seats in the Greek government – about 7% of the controlling body – and combined with the Communists, that control is closer to 20%. And their influence is not only growing there, but in Europe and the US. The darkness is rising once again and the Golden Dawn is telling those in power they should fear them now and indeed, they should take those threats to heart. Golden Dawn is demanding the respect of the Greek people and, with their violent stance, they may enforce it.

From The Blaze:

Golden Dawn leader Nikolaos Michaloliakos told The Associated Press in an interview that his party had delivered a blow against the country’s corrupt leadership.

“They slandered us, slung mud at us, and shut us out of all the news media – the TV channels of the corrupt elite – and we beat them,” the 55-year-old leader said as the votes came in. “The day of national revolution by the Greeks has begun against those who are selling us out and looting the sweat of the Greek people.”

History is repeating and a new horror is spreading its wings across the globe and few seem to be taking note of it. France just elected a Socialist leader (actually he’s a Communist; you say potato…) and Islamic fascism via The Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda is sweeping the Middle East. Look at history: Hitler and Islam joined hands in a Kumbaya moment of sociopathic murderous glee to slaughter the Jews last time and you are seeing the exact same moves today. Once again, America sits quietly by as the vilest of coalitions forms to engulf humanity while Satan laughs with delight. Iran is doing the nuclear bump as its evil imp of a leader boldly proclaims that war is not needed to defeat Israel. No… cutting ties and dirty looks should do the trick. Okay, you can stop choking with laughter now. Ahmadinejad is the ultimate trickster – I firmly believe he wants to nuke Israel into the afterlife and you are nuts if you can’t see that. We are on his enemies list as well – right at the top of it actually, with Israel a close second. A well placed EMP or two should take care of the US in the imp’s viewpoint and he may well be right. Millions would die in the aftermath of one second after.

clip_image002_thumb[1]

America is not immune to the spread of Golden Dawn’s platform. Certainly, if Obama is reelected we will see it spread. Of course, the name will be different, but the sulfuric stench will be the same. If Romney is elected and then does not follow the will of the people in America, which is a conservative bent by the majority, and goes back to bailouts and stimulus games, you will see the rise of nationalism here as well and that is poison. We dare not go down that road. History shows we could easily do so. There were pro-Hitler movements here in the US the last time this rose from the depths of Hell. Look it up.

The Blaze explains the scenario that could unfold:

Beck explained that the situation in Greece was likely a direct result of something he calls the “Bubba effect.” To refresh your memory on what this theory entails, envision a scenario where, in the wake of an Islamic terror attack and subsequent government ineptitude — particularly as regards national security and immigration — an everyman, or, “Bubba,” pushed to the brink, shoots someone who appears to be Muslim. Citizens rally to Bubba’s defense, blaming the government, not the murderer, for causing the problem in the first place. When citizens’ frustration with government reaches critical mass, a contingent can all too easily use that as an excuse to lash out. As we examine the situation in Greece below, it seems the Bubba effect may have already arrived.

One component leading to the unrest across the eurozone has been the enactment of austerity measures. Billed as an answer to the European sovereign debt crisis, austerity measures focus on achieving reduced levels of spending primarily through cutting public services and programs. This is done so that taxes need not increase to compensate for deficits. Needless to say, whenever public and social services are cut, those who champion said programs, particularly on the left, are bound to pose strong resistance. Such has been the case across Europe, specifically Greece. With the exit of Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is perhaps the only pro-austerity leader left in Europe.

clip_image003_thumb[1]

I never thought I would see this happen in my lifetime. It blindsided me and takes my breath away. When I face the evil developing, it causes me to cringe from within and begs me to turn away. I will not and I pray that America and the world will not either. The only way to beat back the darkness is to face it head on and fight with every bit of strength you have physically and in your soul. Death is not the worst thing that can happen to you. History is calling us – which side will each of us choose? I choose the light and will fight to my last breath defending Israel and what is good and right. My course is set, but the world’s is still very much in question. It has taken the world only 70 years to forget the last time we danced with this demon. Shame on us.

Listen to the hardline rhetoric of Greece’s Golden Dawn leader, Nikolaos Michaloliakos. Anti-immigration, isolation, nationalism… spouted with ear-assailing passion and vehemence. Remind you of anyone? All fanatical, charismatic psychopaths share certain traits – loud proclamations, soul-stirring speeches and gut wrenching inclusions meant to ensnare the soul and trap the individual with twisted, seductive language where up is down, wrong is right, death is life.

clip_image004_thumb[1]

More is to be gleaned from The Blaze – the only one I know of that’s exposing this spreading cancer:

Vowing to “rid this country of the stench” — a.k.a. immigrants — Golden Dawn’s insignia is entirely too reminiscent of the swastika and its adherents, reportedly clad in black, are often seen physically abusing and intimidating immigrants across the country. Needless to say, Greece’s immigrant community is understandably concerned and opponents are preoccupied with how best to marginalize the Neo-Nazi group that has now gained legitimacy in the halls of government.

Michaloliakos, who is also no fan of the media, said the day of “national revolution by the Greeks has begun against those who are selling us out and looting the sweat of the Greek people.”

It might also be worth noting that “Golden Dawn” takes its name from a “magical order” of Freemasons who practiced in the late 19th and early 20th century Britain. The order has been cited one of the greatest influences on Western occultism.

The silence from the media and the world is deafening and beyond alarming. Israel sees what is happening. What happened to all of us who declared “never again?” Eternity beckons the world into darkness and we are too busy watching American Idol to care. Sigh.

clip_image006_thumb[1]

It is true that the Nazis killed not only Jews and Gypsies, but Communists and Socialists. But in many ways, the Nazis shared common goals with the Communists. That is why they were killed – their ideology competed with Hitler’s vision. Particularly, their economic goals were similar.

From the TIME Magazine profile that named Adolf Hitler its 1934 Man of the Year:

“Most cruel joke of all, however, has been played by Hitler & Co. on those German capitalists and small businessmen who once backed National Socialism as a means of saving Germany’s bourgeois economic structure from radicalism. The Nazi credo that the individual belongs to the state also applies to business. Some businesses have been confiscated outright, on other what amounts to a capital tax has been levied. Profits have been strictly controlled. Some idea of the increasing Governmental control and interference in business could be deduced from the fact that 80% of all building and 50% of all industrial orders in Germany originated last year with the Government. Hard-pressed for food- stuffs as well as funds, the Nazi regime has taken over large estates and in many instances collectivized agriculture, a procedure fundamentally similar to Russian Communism.”

There was a direct correlation between poverty, the increase of unemployment and the rise of Nazism. Think it can’t happen here? If we don’t change our course, look in the mirror at Greece. She is our future on a larger, more deadly scale. It took only 30% to elect Hitler and put him in office with an iron-fisted control of the country.

The fascist boogie fever has hit Greece and is dancing its influence across the planet. Spreading anti-Semitism, hate and fear while dancing to the Nazi beat. It’s literally to die for.

Breaking: Did Sarah Palin Just Announce She Would Accept the GOP Nomination if Drafted? – Updated

BREAKING: Did Sarah Palin Just Announce She Would Accept The GOP Nomination if Drafted?

Oh man, what a day this has turned out to be. Sarah Palin has been all over Fox News today, including making a surprise appearance on The Five, setting between Bob Beckel and Eric Bolling, who has been teasing her appearance on his Fox Business News show Follow the Money, which brings us to what currently has everyone buzzing.

This is a supposed transcript from the interview she did with Eric, from Time Magazine:

BOLLING: Governor, a lot of people are saying it can’t happen. I don’t necessarily agree with them. If one of the nominees, one of the GOPers, doesn’t get enough delegates, it could go the a brokered convention.

If it does get to that and someone said, Governor, would you be interested, would you be interested?

PALIN: Well, for one, I think that it could get to that. And I — you know, if it had to — if it had to be kind of closed up today, the whole nominating process, then we would be looking at a brokered convention.

I mean nobody is quite there yet. So I think that months from now, if that’s the case, then, you know, all bets are off as to who it will be willing to offer themselves up in the name of service to their country. I would — I would do whatever I could to help.

BOLLING:
That’s — that’s fantastic.

Putting this in the context of Sarah’s Fox interviews with Greta, the gang on Fox and Friends, and Martha MacCallum, where she is clearly displeased with how the current candidates are handling themselves, as well as going after President Obama full speed, it seems she has decided she may have to take matters into her own hand!

Of course, this could be nothing more than a huge shot across the bow of all of the campaigns, and the GOP, warning them to get their act together. Or it could be she’s been listening to all of us who wanted her to run from day one.

Of course, I’m quite biased, as I have thought she would make a great president since 2007!

It also seems Sarah may be appearing on Red Eye [with Jedediah Bila] in the wee hours of the morning! [they actually tape the show earlier] Stay up late or set your DVRs! Red Eye airs 3 AM eastern.

All I know is the next few days are going to be a bit crazy!

This is just fun. Sarah Palin was a surprise guest on The Five, which apparently was even a surprise to The Five. Watch to the end though to see Palin kick Bob Beckel for a few of the things he’s said about her: Video at the link.

If Sarah is flirting, I was seduced a long time ago! For everyone who doesn't want Romney, this is huge! It's only in the modern era that Presidential nominations have been locked up before most American voters even tuned in. So this year, for the nation, the Republican Primary is kind of a return to older times, when all Americans counted, not just the few power brokers. The race has been a very rich blue blood from New England ( where he would not carry one state in the general election ) and a group of three, Newt, Rick and...

It was a Sarah Palin crowd. At a conference of conservative activists last week, there were stacks of Sarah Palin books and Sarah Palin posters. A special screening of a film about Palin was planned. And after skipping the gathering for four years, Palin herself had agreed at last to give the keynote address. Having traveled from Buffalo, Jason Benner was there to see the one who made his heart soar. “Wayne LaPierre,” he said with gusto, referring to the head of the National Rifle Association. He named the rest of his top five speakers — Marco Rubio, Mitt Romney,...

Sarah Palin: ‘I’m Game’ to Run for Future Office & ‘All Bets Are Off’ in Event of Brokered GOP Convention

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin isn’t one for divulging the tactical details of her (potential) future political plans. In fact, the 2008 vice-presidential contender is known for leaving much to the imagination when it comes to future electoral prospects. Last year, she made fans wait quite a while before announcing that she wouldn’t be seeking the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

On Wednesday, on FOX Business’ “Follow the Money,“ Palin told Eric Bolling she ”would do whatever [she] could to help,” leaving the door open to any and all possibilities should a brokered convention take form later this year.

Patriots of the Year – 2011

clip_image002

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton  -  The NoisyRoom

The Tea Party once again was shunned by major media in 2011. But they were there punching away and fighting for America under many names with millions of patriots striving to save our country and return to Constitutional principles. In virtually every city across the United States, Tea Party members got involved in local and national politics and raised their voices in unison to cry for smaller government, less debt and lower taxes.

And at the forefront were unsung fighters like Andrea Shea King of The Radio Patriot and her producer Dave Logan of ThirdWaveDave fame. Andrea and Dave are the heart and soul of the Tea Party and have fought tirelessly this last year through The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama to further the goals of everyone’s dream – to get the Marxist-in-Chief out of the White House. Others, such as Michael Johns, also toured and spoke at rallies, working his fanny off trying to revive the Republic. Trevor Loudon traveled to the US on his own dime and spent months speaking at Tea Party rallies out of love for a country that is not his own. (By the way, did I mention New Zealand rocks?) We owe each and every person in the Tea Party a huge debt of gratitude – a few who are willing to risk it all, so that many may be free.

But alas, media propagandist Time, did not see it that way. Instead they chose aMarxist/terrorist, er, Protester as Person of the Year. In 2010, which was unwaveringly the year of the Tea Party, they didn’t mention Tea Partiers at all, even though millions protested in peace with no arrests, violence or garbage left behind. The media labeled them radicals and terrorists, which is the epitome of irony considering what the Occupiers actually are and stand for. Same for 2011 for the Tea Party – crickets. But in a move that Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of, the Occupiers grace Time’s cover this year.

clip_image004

But the joke is on Time and the rest of the MSM that are in the tank for Obama and the Progressives on both sides of the aisle. The Tea Party is growing stronger day by day even without face time. Americans recognize the US is in deep, deep doodoo and are fed up with politicians in general.

Instead they are turning towards candidates with American values such as Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum. Voters have put Tea Party candidates in the House and Senate and that trend will only continue. The Left took a beating in 2010, but baby, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Come 2012, there’s gonna be an ass whooping of epic proportions. And guess what? That includes the RINOs on the right. Progressives on both sides of the aisle are about to have their collective bottoms spanked big time by the voters. Americans are not dumb and they’ve just about had enough. Don’t underestimate the Tea Party – they are the Progressive’s worst nightmare.

clip_image006

So, we welcome 2012 as the ‘Year of Freedom Restored in America!’ It is fitting that January is ‘Hot Tea Month.’ And honey, the Tea Party is just getting warmed up. We are taking our country back and cleaning house. We are researching and exposing all those naughty Progressives who have been so instrumental in trying to bring this great nation to her knees.

The Tea Party fought a rough and tough battle in 2011. But they’ll win the war for the Republic in 2012 if they stick to their guns and chase the corrupt bastards out of office. Whether with votes or tar and feathers, it’s going to be one hell of a ride and I would not miss it for the world.

Ben Bernanke, Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'

Time

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, a student of the Great Depression who has fought to avert another one, is Time Magazine's  "person of the year.”

It was Bernanke and then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson who were said to have sucked the oxygen from a room filled with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill when they met last year to explain the gravity of the credit crisis that was unfolding.

Bernanke has since won another term as Federal Reserve chairman, reappointed by President Obama. And now he's won a Time cover.

Time chose Bernanke over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gen. Stanley McChyrstal, "the Chinese worker'' and many more.

"We came very, very close to a depression,'' Bernanke tells Time. "The markets were in anaphylactic shock. I'm not happy with where we are, but it's a lot better than where we could be. ... Of course, there were things we could have done better, but this was a perfect storm."

Bernanke on unemployment: "The additional steps aren't as obvious or clear as the ones we've already taken. It's an enormous problem. There aren't easy solutions."

On questions about his handling of Lehman, AIG and Bear Stearns: "It's the price of success: People start to think you're omnipotent. We say we didn't have the authority, and it's 'Oh, you're the Fed. You could've come up with something.' "

On his background: "I'm not one of those people who look at this as some kind of video game. I come from Main Street, from a small town that's really depressed. This is all very real to me."

On banker pay: "I think that bankers ought to recognize that the government and the taxpayer saved the financial system from utter collapse last year. And in recognizing that, I would think that bankers ought to look in the mirror and decide that perhaps there should be some more restraint in how much they pay themselves, given what the government and the taxpayer did to protect the system."

Bernanke related to the CFR and Bilderberg Groups and never would answer what happened to the $13 Trillion Dollars that just vanished… Is he really your choice for person of the year??

Beck Watch: Boycott Decimates Advertisers and Freedom of Speech – Time Magazine Noticed Him Anyway~

Glenn on Time Magazine's Cover
Time Article- Mad Man: Is Glenn Beck Bad for America?

You know what they say… “I don’t care what you say about me… Just spell my name right! Indeed, if Time Magazine put Glenn Beck on their cover he is doing something right and people are noticing him… so more people will hear what he has to say.

But Stand-Up for Glenn and Free Speech Anyway~

Five hundred and sixty thousand dollars. That's what radical ColorofChange estimates Glenn Beck has cost Fox News since the beginning of the Beck boycott last month. 62 national advertisers appear to have dropped the show since August.

Here's the list of who's still hangin' in there

Lear Capital

Liberty Medical

ExtenZe

News Corp. (The Wall Street Journal)

Rosland Capital

LifeLock

Conservatives for Patient's Rights

Clarity Media Group (The Weekly Standard)

Roche Diagnostics (Accu-Chek Aviva)

Citrix (GoToMeeting)

Merit Financial

Goldline International, Inc

Carbonite

National Review

We must write letters of support to these companies that are supporting Glenn Beck and continue to write and pressure the companies who have dropped advertising on Glenn’s show. We must also write Fox and thank them for standing up for the Freedoms of Speech and of the Press.

And for anyone who thinks this is a victory, they really don't understand freedom of speech or the fact that if they can do this to someone you don't like today... they will do it to someone you do like (or to you) tomorrow...

We all need to remember this little poem from WWII:

FIRST THEY CAME...

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

Then they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
I did not protest;
I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,
I did not protest;
I was a Protestant.

Then they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.

I always remind people of the Supreme Court decision in favor of Larry Flynt of Hustler Magazine... when people were infuriated. The Supreme Court did not agree with Larry... they upheld the constitution and all our rights of speech. Sadly, liberals only like freedom of speech when it applies to themselves or people they agree with. You see that in the fact that the ACLU never stands up for conservatives... or only half heartedly when they are called on it.

Tea Partiers, Town Hallers, 9/12ers, Conservatives, Moderate Democrats, Libertarians, Republicans, Beck Viewers & Listeners and Believers in the First Amendment, we must stand up and fight for Glenn and against this radical anti-American Group!!!

Elizabeth Edwards: How I Survived John's Affair

Elizabeth Edwards during her husband's presidential campaign

elizabeth_edwards_0430

On May 3, former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards acknowledged that a federal investigation had been opened into whether his campaign improperly gave money to a woman with whom Edwards had an extramarital affair. Edwards has denied any wrongdoing by his campaign. In an exclusive excerpt from her new book, Resilience, Edwards' wife Elizabeth describes her reaction to learning of the affair in late 2006. -  Scott Olson / Getty

John was gone a lot in 2003 and 2004 running for office, and although I saw him all the time in 2005 when I was getting treatment for breast cancer, I knew I would see him less in 2006. I even participated in his being gone. I thought he should do a spring-break trip for college students in New Orleans to help with theHurricane Katrina cleanup. His antipoverty work would take him across the country, and I knew that. When he told me that the political action committee was going to have behind-the-scenes videos made of some of these efforts, it didn't seem like that bad an idea, and it certainly didn't occur to me to ask about who was making them. It didn't occur to me that at a fancy hotel in New York, where he sat with a potential donor to his antipoverty work, he would be targeted by a woman who would confirm that the man at the table was John Edwards and then would wait for him outside the hotel hours later when he returned from a dinner, wait with the come-on line "You are so hot" and an idea that she should travel with him and make videos. And if you had asked me to wager that house we were building on whether my husband of then 28 years would have responded to a come-on line like that, I would have said no. (See pictures of John Edwards' Road to One America tour.)

John told me of his indiscretion on Dec. 30, 2006, after returning from a tour to announce that he was running for President. Before the announcement tour he had asked my brother to come with him to film it, since Jay taught film at the graduate film school at NYU, but when Jay found out another videographer was coming whether he came or not, Jay said no. Now the announcement tour was over and we were sitting in our family room, John telling us about the response in the various cities. John pulled Jay aside and asked him again to film the campaign. The female videographer who had been on the announcement tour was not going to travel with him again. John did not tell him why. The next morning he told me why, or told me a version of why. He had made a terrible decision and had been with the woman. After I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up. (See a TIME package on tabloid truths.)

And the next day John and I spoke. He wasn't coy, but it turned out he wasn't forthright either. A single night and since then remorse, was what he said. There were other opportunities, he admitted, but on only one night had he violated his vows to me. So much has happened that it is sometimes hard for me to gather my feelings from that moment. I felt that the ground underneath me had been pulled away. I wanted him to drop out of the race, protect our family from this woman, from his act. It would only raise questions, he said, he had just gotten in the race; the most pointed questions would come if he dropped out days after he had gotten in the race. And I knew that was right, but I was afraid of her. And now he knows I was right to be afraid, that once he had made this dreadful mistake, he should not have run. But just then he was doing, I believe, what I was trying to do: hold on to our lives despite this awful error in judgment.

Like most wives — or husbands — in my position, I wanted to believe his involvement with this woman had been as little as possible. A single night, another opportunity, but that was it and he had wanted away from her.... It turned out that a single time was not all it was. More than a year later, I learned that he had allowed [the woman] into our lives and had not, even when he knew better, made her leave us alone. I tried to get him to explain, but he did not know himself why he had allowed it to happen. In months of talking with him, I have come to understand his liaison with this woman, if I have, not as a substitute for me. Those with any fame or notoriety or power attract people for good reasons and bad. Some want to contribute and some want to take something away for themselves. They flatter and entreat, and it is engaging, even addictive. They look at our lives, which from the outside in particular are pictures of joy and plenty, and they want it for themselves. (Read an interview with Elizabeth Edwards and Teresa Heinz Kerry.)

Just as I don't want cancer to take over my life, I don't want this indiscretion, however long in duration, to take over my life either. But I need to deal with both; I need to find peace with both. It is hard for John, I can see, because it is something about which he is ashamed. But his willingness to open up is a statement that he trusts me, too. For quite a long time, I used whatever he admitted in the next argument and he was hesitant to say anything. That is, gratefully, behind us. There is still a great deal of sorting through to do — the lies went on for some time. And we both understand that there are no guarantees, but the road ahead looks clear enough, although from here it looks long.

Time Magazines 100 - The World's Most Influential People

In the annual TIME 100 issue, Time Magazine attempts do the impossible: name the people who most affect our world, or have in the previous year, including:  leaders, revolutionaries, builders, titans, artists, entertainers, heroes, icons scientists, writers and thinkers... even some villains.

time 100 walkup tout 2009 barack obama angelina jolie

In a stunning result, the winner of the third annual TIME 100 poll and new owner of the title World's Most Influential Person is moot. The 21-year-old college student and founder of the online community 4chan.org, whose real name is Christopher Poole, received 16,794,368 votes and an average influence rating of 90 (out of a possible 100) to handily beat the likes of Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin and Oprah Winfrey. To put the magnitude of the upset in perspective, it's worth noting that everyone moot beat out actually has a job.

Since moot launched 4chan.org in 2003, the site has given birth to Internet memes as diverse as Lolcats and Rickrolling. 4chan averages 13 million page views a day and 5.6 million visitors a month; by some estimates it is the second largest bulletin board in the world.

See the world's most influential people in the 2009 TIME 100.

For proof of moot's influence on the Web, one need look no further than the TIME 100 poll results. While Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao got a larger vote total (20,391,818), the runner-up for the title of World's Most Influential Person, Malaysian politician Anwar Ibrahim, received a mere 47 on the influence scale. Moot denies knowing about any concerted plan by his followers to influence the poll, though TIME.com's technical team did detect and extinguish several attempts to hack the vote. (See the full results here.)

Undoubtedly, many people will question moot's worthiness of the title World's Most Influential Person. TIME.com managing editor Josh Tyrangiel says moot is no less deserving than previous title holders like Nintendo video-game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (2007) and Korean pop star Rain (2006). "I would remind anyone who doubts the results that this is an Internet poll," he says. "Doubting the results is kind of the point."

Rush Limbaugh On Time 100 List - Glenn Beck

Rush Limbaugh - The 2009 Time 100

For some of us, being a media personality just isn't as easy as it used to be. The theory goes that to build a large audience in this age of iPhones, podcasts and whatever the latest buzzword is, you have to do everything at once — and that means simultaneously host a radio program, host a TV show, write books and tour the country. Even Barack Obama had to hold a press conference, go on 60 Minutes, talk to Jay Leno and post clips on YouTube within the span of one week just to get people to pay attention to his budget.

But not Rush Limbaugh. When Rush wants to talk to America, all he has to do is grab his microphone.

He attracts more listeners with just his voice than the rest of us could ever imagine. He is simply on another level.

No matter how many new technologies pop up, nothing will ever surpass the intimacy of radio. And nobody will ever be better at utilizing it than Rush. His consistency, insight and honesty have earned him a level of trust with his listeners that politicians can only dream of. And that is why the more irrelevant critics try to make him, the more relevant he becomes.

Rush, 58, saved the spoken-word radio format from obscurity and paved the way for thousands of broadcasters, including myself. His career serves as the most successful stimulus package in radio history. All without a government dime.

Knowing firsthand just how hard it is to hold an audience's attention for a few hours makes it that much more amazing to have seen Rush do it for more than 20 years. To say that he has set the standard for success in broadcasting would truly be an understatement.

Beck is a television (Fox) and radio talk-show host and a No. 1 New York Times best-selling author.  Glenn said he was humbled and honored to be asked to write about the talk radio king - the man who revolutionized and saved an entire industry with one Golden EIB microphone.

George W. Bush in Time's People Who Mattered... 2008

Now Ex-President George W. Bush ("W" or #43)

BRENDAN SMIALOWSKI FOR TIME

George W. Bush may have seemed like a diminished figure on the political scene this year, but in fact he was everywhere, his role in American politics perhaps larger than ever before. If you had to summarize the Democrats' message — the one that led to their sweeping victories in November — you might land upon, simply, "We're not Bush." Even his own party chose one of his longtime rivals as its nominee. It's hard to imagine the Obama moment if Bush had been less interested during his presidency in the expansion of U.S. power and more interested in financial management. Like all Presidents, though, Bush hopes history will judge him less like, say, Harding and more like another President who fought an unpopular war, Lincoln.
