Flag Day… June 14th - FDR’s Progressive Flag Day Address

This is a clip of the National Anthem played when networks signed off for the night. This was played on WITI Fox 6 when it signed off for transmitter maintenance only once in 2004. After that it never signed off for the night again.

Grand Ol' Flag

If you are still the owner of a paper calendar, you will find Flag Day noted on June 14. The date commemorates the day in 1777 when the Second Constitutional Congress adopted the 13-stars and 13-stripes flag for the new nation. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as the official date to honor the flag.

Betsy Ross…

Franklin D. Roosevelt Progressive Flag Day Address

The Spirit of man has awakened
The Soul of man has gone forth

Grant us the wisdom and the vision
to comprehend the greatness of man's Spirit
that suffers and endures so hugely for a goal
beyond his own brief span

We are all of us children of Earth
Grant us that simple knowledge

If our brothers are oppressed,
then we are oppressed

If they hunger, we hunger

If their freedom is taken away,
our freedom is not secure

Grant us a common faith,
that man shall know bread and peace
That he shall know justice and righteousness,
Freedom and security, an equal opportunity,
and an equal chance to do his best,
not only in our own lands, but throughout the world.

And in that faith, let us march, march toward the clean world,
our hands can make. Amen

-Franklin D. Roosevelt, June 14, 1942  -  Some things just keep coming back around!

And what a difference an election and 4-years make…

On Monday Our Present Progressive President  called for U.S. citizens to observe Flag Day and National Flag week “with pride”

In a proclamation as mandated by Congress in 1949, Obama declared June 14 Flag Day and the week in which it lands as National Flag Week.

"This week, we mark nearly one century since that historic proclamation, and more than two centuries since the Second Continental Congress brought 13 United States under a single standard," Obama said.

"Though our flag has changed to reflect the growth of our republic, it will forever remain an emblem of the ideals that inspired our great nation: liberty, democracy, and the enduring freedom to make of our lives what we will."

Obama called on "the appropriate officials to display the flag on all federal government buildings during that week," and for "the people of the United States to observe with pride."

"As we reflect on our heritage, let us remember that our destiny is stitched together like those 50 stars and 13 stripes," Obama said.

All This Just For a Flag? Asks Michelle Obama

The Washington Times (September 13, 2011):

The internet was buzzing this week with video of First Lady Michelle Obama apparently showing extreme disrespect to the American flag at a ceremony in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. As police and firefighters fold the flag to the sound of marching bagpipers, a skeptical looking Mrs.... Obama leans to her husband and appears to say, “all this just for a flag.” She then purses her lips and shakes her head slightly as Mr.... Obama nods. (This is not the first she has been caught making similar comments about the flag and for a very long Time candidate Obama did not salute the flag or wear a flag pin on his lapel).

Just for a flag? If that is what she said it is regrettable. Even with all her years being around those who hold high public office Mrs....... Obama does not seem to understand the purpose and importance of ceremonies. They reaffirm the bonds of loyalty and fellowship that cement our national unity. Yes, at one level a flag is just a colorful piece of cloth. But it symbolizes much more. It is the emblem of our land and all its ideals. It has been present at every major event of any importance to the country, battles, celebrations, meetings, and the lunar landings. It is a symbol of unity that transcends party, faction and time. It is something uniquely and explicitly American. Men and women have fought and died for it. Our enemies hate us for it and burn it in the streets. All that should mean something.

Perhaps Mrs...... Obama thinks that all the pomp and circumstance she experiences in her daily life has something to do with her, rather than the unofficial office she holds. If so she should disabuse herself of that notion quickly. The official gestures of respect shown to her are the same shown to any First Lady, and if she wasn’t married to the president she would be just another citizen. Ruffles and flourishes are not hers by right, but by coincidence of marriage. Yet this is the same woman who said she had never in her adult life been really proud of America before her husband ran for president, so it is no wonder she might dismiss a flag ceremony as just so much nonsense.

All this just for a flag? Has anyone said, “All this just for Michelle Obama?”

Troops will and have risked their lives all over the world to raise and defend the American flag

That question, All this just for a flag?, is the same attitude that has created a situation where U.S. Military for 20 years, risk their lives protecting freedom and our flag, and only get 50% of their pay on retirement.  While Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full-pay retirement after serving one term. Troops will and have risked their lives all over the world to raise and defend the American flag, a symbol of freedom and hope, but our first lady and president don’t understand that. That should worry every American!

We are not far from the end folks.  We can't take much more political correctness.  This picture was taken at the AZ state capitol yesterday (don’t have the specific date).

The news will not show it and the Capitol Police and Homeland Security would not let Americans or any of the Veterans that were there do anything about it.  My husband and his friends were threatened with arrest and were told they would be booked under federal charges if they did anything.

I am sending this to you so that you in turn can all start Emailing/Sharing it with everyone they know.  It is totally uncalled for and people need to see it.  This is not about politics and rhetoric, it is about a direct threat to our country, disrespect and hate. Those of you that don't live in Arizona will maybe get a chance to see the other side of what the news is telling you.  If this offends you greatly, then I have truly accomplished what I set out to do. I understand that sometimes we don't see eye to eye on certain things, but that is the right our forefathers fought for.  I am an American before anything else.

For those of you who choose to dismiss this: If you believe that this is okay I believe you are a traitor to this country and everything it stands for.  I am not a racist and I am not a Nazi, this has nothing to do with race, it has to do with respect to the country that is continually taking you in and turning a blind eye to your agenda.  Homeland Security was designed to identify and defend America from Terrorist acts yet yesterday it let illegal and legal citizens of this country desecrate the Flag.  People were spitting on it, stomping on it and burning it with cigarettes.  One soldier who had just returned from Iraq tried to grab the flag and was thrown to the ground by the Capitol Police and Homeland Security.  It amazes me how many people will stand against the American People while prospering from our system and our government.  To those of you that will forward this to your friends or post it on your blogs I applaud you for the courage to stand up for the country in which you live.

ABC: No Flags Please; We Are Americans

ABC News Bans flag and Patriotic lapel Pins’ Even Barbara Walter Complains

Yes, the mainstream media, in this case ABC "News" cannot do enough, quickly enough to destroy whatever independence, sovereignty and freedom we still have left. Now American Flag lapel pins are banned.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, there was a report that ABC News asked its on-air reporters not to wear American flag pins or red, what and blue ribbons. Some pointed out at that time that ABC seemed to have been singled out a, for what some said had previously been a standing policy by some news networks of no flag pins or patriotic displays. However that is questionable too, for Brit Hume has worn flag pins on air at CBS, NBC, CNN and FOX.

ABC seemed to loosen it’s policy for awhile as the wave of patriotism swept the nation after 9/11 but last week they reinstated their policy which is in line with the White House, to ban American Flag Lapel Pins for journalists. The tenth anniversary of 9/11 seems an odd time to reinstate this policy?!? (Obama wears one now again when he feels looking patriotic is to his advantage. You’ll see it a lot more as candidate Obama is out on the campaign trail.)

‘ABC News Joins Obama - Bans American Flag Lapel Pins’ was the headline - Barbara Walters said that this was going to hurt ABC bad, as it should. As you know she works for ABC.

Associated Press writer David Bauder quoted Barbara Walters as saying that ABC discouraged its reporters from wearing the flag because "...it may confuse the audience." She was also quoted as saying that there was concern whether someone who decided not to wear a flag in the midst of all the others might be viewed as less patriotic.

ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS!

YESTERDAY THE BRASS AT ABC NEWS ISSUED ORDERS FORBIDDING REPORTERS TO WEAR LAPEL PIN AMERICAN FLAGS OR OTHER PATRIOTIC INSIGNIA. THEIR REASONING WAS THAT ABC SHOULD REMAIN NEUTRAL ABOUT 'CAUSES'.

SINCE WHEN IS SUPPORT FOR PREVENTING DEATH AND DESTRUCTION SOME SORT OF A 'CAUSE'? SINCE WHEN IS PATRIOTISM TO BE DISCOURAGED?  EVER? WE ARE AMERICANS.

IN REALITY THIS IS NOT A MOVE BY ABC TO REMAIN NEUTRAL ABOUT ‘CAUSES’, BUT RATHER ANOTHER MOVE BY ABC TO MARCH IN LOCK STEP WITH THE LEFTIST ANTI-PATRIOTIC OBAMA WHITE HOUSE AND ANOTHER WIN FOR POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, THE REVENGE OR MARXISM

I URGE YOU TO BOYCOTT ABC AND ITS SPONSORS AND AFFILIATES. WE ARE SLOWLY, NO, RAPIDLY LOSING EVERYTHING OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR AND EVERYTHING OUR MEN AND WOMEN FOUGHT AND DIED TO PRESERVE!

THIS HAS BEEN VERIFIED THROUGH:  http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/abcflag.htm as well as at AskAbout.com/Urban Legends (Snopes has not been updated since 2008 on this subject… but they are becoming less and less reliable and leaning more and more to the left anyway.)

THE FLAG IS GONE. Have You Noticed ????

Patriot Freedom says:

ALARMING!  -  THE FLAG IS GONE. Have You Noticed ????

What is missing at Barack Hussein Obama's press conference?
No it is not the teleprompters. See the other presidents pics for a clue below.

Trust me when I say that this is intentional. It should
alarm every American.

For a long time, we have noticed that the decor at the White House has changed since BHO moved in.

The Oval Office is now stripped of the traditional red, white, and blue, and replaced with middle eastern wallpaper, drapes, and decor… The hallway that he walks out of to talk to the press now has middle eastern chairs, drapes, etc. And the thing that has bothered me the most is the bright yellow drape behind him every time he speaks from the white house.

It has Arabic symbols on it and has been there from the beginning.

Today I received this and it clearly shows what I have been noticing.
That bright yellow curtain is highly visible, but as you scroll down,
you will see what is predominantly absent. Also, as you look at
the pictures of other presidents speaking from the same spot, look
at the traditional 'American' background and decor as opposed to
the new decor.

Will Media Help Sell the New Obama American Flag?

There's a new American flag available on the Internet that has a picture of President Obama in the corner where the stars representing our fifty states normally reside.

Given how our media have assisted in selling Obama paraphernalia since Inauguration Day, one has to wonder what their position will be on the attractive keepsake pictured right.

As NewsBusters has chronicled, news outlets up until now haven't been shy about pushing product associated with the new president (larger picture of flag below the fold, h/t Atlas Shrugs):

  • The CBS "Early Show" promoted Obama dolls in April
  • NBC Universal's online store offers at least 29 Obama-related items for sale
  • The CBS "Early Show" addressed how Obama merchandise was tough to keep on the shelves when the first family vacationed on Martha's Vineyard over the summer.

With this in mind, why not push the new Obama American flag?

Makes you want to stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance, doesn't it?

Exit question: should this be called an Obamican flag? Or just an Abomination of the Obama Nation?

Actually, there is something intrinsically creepy about this, especially if you have been connecting the dots!

Perhaps it would make him want to salute the flag though…?

If there is not a law against defacing our flag… there should be!!

During the Primaries:

This should have been our first clue…

Barack Hussein Obama refuses to salute US flag

I think that picture says it all. And, he refuses to wear the American Flag on his lapel. This was started by Patriotic Officials after 911 occurred. He does not deserve to be President, he nor his Wife love America. However, they have taken all the good that America has offered them. Including their elite education and the opportunity to be where they are today. And, then they dishonor their Country. Quoting Michelle, America is mean and this is the first time she has ever been proud to be an American. They chose to honor a hate filled man's rhetoric. He is certainly NOT 'a man of GOD'. Reverend should never be a prefix in front of this hate filled person. The vessel to Hell will surely overflow with false prophets and he will be at the helm.

Veterans Call for Flags to Fly Upside Down

War veterans are asking Americans across the country to fly their flags upside down this Fourth of July weekend.

War veterans are asking Americans across the country to fly their flags upside down this Fourth of July weekend. They say it’s a sign of distress and a protest against the Veterans Administration.

A small group of veterans picketed outside the Canandaigua VA Hospital Wednesday afternoon. They were protesting the closing of VA hospitals across the country. They say those that aren't closing are being sold off or leased to outside interests, depriving veterans the treatment they have earned.

Displaying the American flag upside down, however, is considered by some to be disrespectful.

“We're not disgracing the flag but telling the public be on the alert,” said Gene Simes, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “This is a distress call."

The vets believe their message is not being received. They've called on Congress to do more. Representative Eric Massa (D-Corning), a veteran himself, says this Congress and the Obama administration has done more for veterans in the past six months than ever before.

"Billions of dollars of an increase,” Massa said. “The largest single increase in the history of the VA including tens of millions of dollars not only for Canandaigua, for Bath in the stimulus bill."

Veterans say it isn't enough. They say too many services are being outsourced and sometimes they have to travel too far to receive those services.

"They’re spending pennies when dollars should be spent on the veterans,” said Marty Barden, a veteran of the U.S. Army. “Veterans aren't getting the proper support; they're kind of being pushed off to the side."

"If we are to maintain an all volunteer military, we must make our veterans affairs a priority in this country,” explained U.S. Navy veteran Jere Beery. “We must put that at the top of the list as directly related to national security, retention, morale in our military."

Veterans say they've called on national veterans organizations to support their cause, but the support isn't there.

"Am I griping about the national organization? You're damn right I am. “That's why this flag is upside down,” Simes said. “Let them understand it's not something we take easy that we're doing. This is something very hard, it's affecting all of us but we have to do it."

Representatives from the Canandaigua VA Hospital said they would have no comment at this time.

The Plege of Allegiance

I Pledge Allegiance To The Flag
By Richard Olivastro
November 17, 2008

Vermont is at it again.

This time, residents of the Town of Woodbury - approximately 700 adults - are quarreling over 'how and where' students at the local Elementary School should recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

First some background, followed by some legal history, en-route to what may be the underlying story.

It seems that "No one's sure when daily recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance fell by the wayside" at Woodbury's 19th-century schoolhouse, which has 55 students in four classrooms covering grades K-6.

In September, parent Ted Tedesco, took the initiative and "... began circulating petitions calling for its return as a daily practice". Officials agreed to resume the daily pledge, but "not in the classroom". Supporters of the Pledge say the classroom is the place for it; but school officials would not accept parental input and choice in the matter.

Beginning last week, "a sixth grade student was assigned to go around to the four classrooms before classes started, gathering up anyone who wanted to say it and then walking them up creaky wooden steps to a second-floor gymnasium, where he led them in the pledge".

The rationale offered by elementary school principal, Michaela Martin, "We don't want to isolate children every day in their own classroom, or make them feel they're different."

Tedesco, and other parents who signed the petitions, didn't like that solution. They say it is "disruptive to routine and inappropriate because it put young children in the position of having to decide between pre-class play time and leaving the classroom to say the Pledge".

Tedesco added, "Saying the Pledge in the classroom is legal, convenient and traditional. Asking kindergarten through sixth graders who want to say the Pledge to leave their classrooms to do so is neither convenient nor traditional."

He's right.

And, it may - or should - be illegal, to require schoolchildren who wish to recite the Pledge to have to leave their classroom to do so.

Then, last Friday, the venue was changed again by Principal Michaela Martin, with school board chair Retta Dunlap in attendance.

"Just before 8 a.m., the principal herded all the school's students -- and a handful of adults -- into a cramped foyer that adjoins the first-floor classrooms and told sixth-grader Nathan Gilbert, 12, to lead them in the Pledge."

Following that exercise, "10 adults streamed... outside, forming a circle around Dunlap for a heated discussion in which they pressed for an explanation of why it couldn't be said in the classrooms".

Board Chair Dunlap told the parents "the format is up to teachers, not administrators or parents".

"The children will get used to it, and they'll know what's expected of them," she added.

H'mm.

Later, Principal Martin said "the point of having the whole school gather for the Pledge was to protect children who don't participate in it. If you're in a classroom with 15 students and you choose not to say the Pledge, it's much more obvious than a group setting. When they're saying it in a group of 55, it may not be so obvious. We don't want to isolate children".

In 1943, the United States Supreme Court ruled that "schoolchildren can opt out of reciting the pledge for religious reasons". In other words, schools were no longer able to compel students to recite the pledge or salute the flag, although they could continue to ask them to do so, on a voluntary basis.

Nothing has changed regarding that ruling over the last 65 years. Schools can continue to recite the Pledge every day and the teacher can invite every student to participate.

Four years ago, atheist Michael Newdow sued because he objected to this daughter having to 'listen' to the words "under God" in the teacher-led recitation of the pledge. The Supreme Court ruled against Newdow. That ruling sustains the permission to practice reciting the Pledge 'in the classroom'.

By now, you likely have figured out the 'story underneath the story':

Woodbury Elementary School needs either a handful of teachers willing to lead the Pledge each day within their respective classrooms: or, a principal who will get out of their way and let the teachers lead the Pledge.

As Justice Felix Frankfurter explained, "National unity is the basis of national security. The flag is a symbol of our national unity".

Now, perhaps, more than ever, our country needs the Pledge of Allegiance.

For all American Citizens: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
