Scott Brown vs. Martha Coakley - the “vote heard around the world!” that could stop ObamaCare

As you may or may not have heard, the sure-shot way of ending this government takeover of healthcare and our lives begins with the emergency election to replace the late Ted Kennedy’s seat for Massachusetts US Senate. Scott Brown is the candidate for the job. To read more about this, see our article HERE.

Got this from some people who attended the rally and final Brown Coakley debate yesterday:

We attended the debate rally for Scott Brown. If you haven’t heard by now, it was a slam-dunk for the Brown campaign! What you might not hear, however, is what went on behind the scenes amongst the supporters of both major camps (Brown vs. Coakley). We arrived at University of Massachusetts, Boston to the sight of teamster trucks and union workers unloading massive signage for Martha Coakley at the entrance to the campus. As we approached the event location, the parkway was lined with giant men (all wearing their union shirts) holding Coakley signs.

We got there early and found a single gentleman holding a Brown sign: Marty Lamb, candidate for Congress in the 3rd District. We stopped and talked with him for a bit and were approached by Brad Mardston, candidate for Massachusetts State Senate, who gave us signs and a warm smile. Before we knew it, there was a large group of us of all ages, including Bill Hudak, candidate for Congress in the 7th District, and Robert Fortes for Boston City Council at large. There were young and old alike cheering joyfully in the bitter cold despite the looming unspoken hostility that surrounded us by the union workers with the giant Coakley sign.

Martha Coakley is a machine Democrat that will give Massachusetts and America more of the same. Scott Brown is a veteran who believes in America and real change and representation for the American people. 6-weeks ago, nobody thought Brown had a chance. Today it looks like he could win!

Scott Brown is a class act. He marched up the road to the debate with a banner and a group of supporters, stopping to shake everyone’s hand along the way. There were chants of “Go Scott, go!” the entire time.

Brown is a class-act. We’d like to mention, too, that yesterday Scott Brown’s campaign had a money bomb fundraiser with a goal of $500k. We’re proud to report that, by midnight, he had nearly TRIPLED his goal with $1.3M!!!

Coakley, per elitist fashion, whisked up in a stealthy and anonymous car. As she approached, the giant professional protestor union types holding signs (as if on cue) rushed up in the middle of the road to block off Scott Brown supporters, nearly unapologetically knocking people over. The union thugs had pushed themselves directly in front of the Brown supporters, who proceeded heckling them. One of the union workers actually turned around and said “I’m paid to be here, but I’m voting for Scott Brown. I just need the money, but don’t tell anyone.”

The rally dispersed as the debate was in preparation to begin, so we headed over to watch the televised broadcast at a local restaurant. The energy was typical Bostonian. You would’ve sworn we were watching the World Series the way people were screaming at the TV and refraining from conversation.

Moderator Gurgen asked, “Would you really be number 41 to stop HC from Ted Kennedy’s seat?”. Brown said, “This is not Ted Kennedy’s seat or the Democrat’s seat! It is the people’s seat!!!”

Coakley began talking about Bush and Chaney and trying to make a connection to Brown. Brown stopped her and said, “If you want to run against Bush or Chaney go ahead, but I am Scott Brown, not Bush or Chaney!”

Coakely vowed to vote for ObamaCare. Brown vowed to be the vote that stops it and will then fight for real HC reform.

Like we said, the debate was a slam-dunk. Once it was over, Scott Brown stopped by to thank us for the support.

Guess Who Hosted Coakley's DC Fundraiser Tonight?

The healthcare lobby rides to the rescue of the Massachusetts liberal, whose defeat in next weeks special Senate race could deny Democrats the 60th vote for Obamacare:

We've argued that the leading health industry CEOs will one day be exposed as the most short-sighted business leaders in history, but how to explain the gala fundraiser that their top lobbyists hosted for Martha Coakley last night?

Amid a Beltway panic, the health lobby is riding to the rescue of the Massachusetts liberal, whose defeat in the special Senate race next Tuesday could deny Democrats the 60th vote for ObamaCare and thus maybe spare the U.S. health system from the coming damage.
As first reported by Timothy Carney of the Washington Examiner, the host committee for the fundraiser at Pennsylvania Avenue's Sonoma Restaurant includes lobbyists for Pfizer, Merck, Eli Lilly, Novartis and sundry other drug companies that have been among the biggest of ObamaCare's corporate sponsors. Other hosts—who have raised at least $10,000 for Ms. Coakley—include representatives from UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana and other insurers. As far as we can tell, the insurance industry claims to oppose ObamaCare's current incarnation.

Naturally, lobbyists from America's Health Insurance Plans and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the major trade groups, were on hand too. Money follows power in Washington, obviously, though this example seems especially inexplicable given that Ms. Coakley's GOP opponent, state senator Scott Brown, may be the last chance to defuse the health-care doomsday machine. But maybe someone in the press corps will bother to mention this episode the next time President Obama takes aim at the "special interests" he claims are opposing his agenda.
Against overwhelming public opposition, the only things keeping ObamaCare alive at this point are power politics and the misguided corporate cease-fire that Democrats have either coerced or bought—or is homegrown at companies like Pfizer that are deeply invested in more government control of the economy. Ms. Coakley's election would make that outcome a certainty.

The people of Mass really need to think twice... because with their present Medical system, they will be paying twice for medical care... or that of others.

Then we have Kerry fighting to keep tea parties out of his state
And let us not forget the innocent guy Coakley made sure stayed in jail. - Dissident Voice: Martha Coakley's Chappaquiddick
Coakley is a machine Democrat... Brown is a breath of fresh air and an honest option. (Somebody needs to tell that Kennedy kid running as a Libertarian that since the race is so close... he needs to back out because his vote would got to Scott Brown. His small percentage could cost us the election, and if conservatives aren't careful, that is what will keep happening to us, if we run third party candidates.

If you know people in Mass, make sure they have this information~

bomb

The emergency election is January 19, 2010. We need to get as much support as possible...

This will, for sure, be the “vote heard around the world!

ObamaCare Now Coming Under Siege by Liberals, Unions, Doctors, Former Political Proponents, Constitutionalists and the Majority of the American People

Despite all their promises for fairness and transparency, when it comes to ObamaCare, the President, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid continue to look the American people in the eye and lie right to your face.

As California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger -- once a proponent of ObamaCare and certainly no staunch conservative -- said recently, the so-called health care "reform" bill has become nothing more than "a trough of bribes, deals and loopholes."

That was putting it nicely. The truth is, the process that Obama and Democrat leaders are employing in their efforts to put the government in charge of one-sixth of the nation's economy -- your family's health care decisions -- is perhaps the most corrupt and non-transparent process in the history of our great nation.

In fact, Obama, Pelosi and Reid are so intent on keeping ObamaCare behind closed doors - out of sight from the American people -- that they are going to bypass a conference committee process altogether to try to avoid more public opposition as they seek to combine the House and Senate versions of ObamaCare.

The New York Post summed up what is going on this way:
"Congressional Democrats plan to take final negotiations on the massive health-care overhaul behind closed doors - far from the prying eyes of the public and most lawmakers."

Forget transparency... forget a recent request by C-SPAN to televise further ObamaCare proceedings (something the President himself promised on numerous occasions)... forget about the American people knowing what's in this next ObamaCare offering before it comes up for a final vote in the House and the Senate.

The Heritage Foundation was more blunt in describing the situation:

"These secret meetings will not be a 'traditional conference committee,' nor will they be a conference committee in any sense of the term. The only individuals allowed in the room will be those invited by both the House and Senate Leadership. Why the secrecy? Pelosi and Reid want to be sure they can secure the votes they need to pass the bill again."

Why the secrecy?

That's easy... operating behind thick and guarded doors... utilizing intimidation, political payoffs and ideological fanaticism... that's the only way that Obama, Pelosi and Reid will be able to jam ObamaCare down the throats of the American people.

But we're not going to let them get away with it.

They can meet in secret all they want, but with your help, we will derail their ObamaCare train once and for all.

They are busy combining both the undesirable House and Senate versions of the ObamaCare Bills. But in the end the goal is to pass anything (instead of nothing and starting over on real reform). Why?… Because once something is on the books and passed, unless we over turn on the ground of un-Constitutionality or by reversal due to the will of the majority of the people by the elections of a whole new crop of ‘American politicians’… not loyal career Dems or Republicans, they will re-write the entire thing and put in everything the Progressives wanted in the first place… including:

Update on HC Debate - Latest Compromise: Public Option on Steroids, Death Spirol for Medicare and Thumbs Down From Hospitals

I am watching the Senate Healthcare Debate. Senators Wyden, Bayh and Collins are offering a bipartisan amendment to allow people who are not getting subsidies from the government to purchase insurance with a high deductible in order to keep costs down. They actually admitted during the debate that premiums would increase for these people without this amendment. We keep saying WE DON"T WANT THIS BILL and they are saying to us, "this will make it better". They are treating us like children who don't want to take our medicine.

This morning on the Senate floor Senator Mitch McConnell said the recent CNN poll showed that 61% of Americans oppose this bill. I wonder if any of the Democratic Senators care?
It was announced on the Senate floor by Senator Enzi this morning that the CMS (Center for Medicare Services) announced that the Reid bill bends the cost curve up and is unsustainable. I hope the Democrats hear this.

I also just heard Senators McConnell and Johannis on Fox News state that this bill will definitely cost everyone more... as we know the entire premise of reform and cutting costs was a big fat lie. The GOP had the CMS go over the bill and the actuary verified that cost would be much higher than the CBO and Congress are saying and that the cost will continue on an upward curve.

Cavuto (FNC) had a surgeon that said there is also a provision in the new Medicare provision of the HC bill that will only someone 90-days in the hospital in one year. So if you have been in perfect health all your life and never collect a dime from insurance, but all of a sudden come down with a major illness, accident or condition, you will have to pay out of pocket for your hospital stay beyond 90-days, if it all falls into one year.
And the bad news just keeps on coming....

At one point the GOP explored the option of expanding Medicare and they were told that it would cause an immediate death spiral to this already ailing program… yet now the Dems are selling this as their Public Option.

Add the above to:

John Thune & The Senate Health Care Bill – New Compromise is Public Option on Steroids
Thune
There is a crisis, and it appears to be located in the U.S. Senate. My esteemed Keloland colleague and colleague Emeritus, David Newquist, has this:

John Thune has become the voice of the GOP–Groundless Obstinence and Petulance–according to the Huffington Post. He says his party will unanimously oppose any health care reform, no matter what is proposed.

For someone who complains a lot when he thinks that others have distorted his words, he seems very careless in describing what Senator Thune said or what the Huffington Post said he said. The Huffington Post article he links to makes it clear in the title that Thune was only speaking about "the Newest Heath Care Compromise," and hardly ruling out GOP support for any bill.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) told the Huffington Post that he did not think the dropping of a public option for insurance coverage from the bill would be enough for Democrats to win even the support of moderate Republican Senators Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins, both of Maine.

"I just think that our side believes that it is a really bad idea to take a program that is already sinking and put more people into it."

Here is how the Washington Post describes the "newest" idea that Reid is floating:

The 11th-hour "compromise" on health-care reform and the public option supposedly includes an expansion of Medicare to let people ages 55 to 64 buy into the program.

This deal, which the WaPo dates back to the Clinton Administration, seems designed to get something like a "public option" into the bill without calling it a public option. Republican opposition may be obstinate and petulant, or maybe not; however, it is hardly groundless. The WaPo points out that it is difficult to tell what effect this "buy in" would have on the reform scheme.

Presumably, the expanded Medicare program would pay Medicare rates to providers, raising the question of the spillover effects on a health-care system already stressed by a dramatic expansion of Medicaid. Will providers cut costs -- or will they shift them to private insurers, driving up premiums? Will they stop taking Medicare patients or go to Congress demanding higher rates? Once 55-year-olds are in, they are not likely to be kicked out, and the pressure will be on to expand the program to make more people eligible. The irony of this late-breaking Medicare proposal is that it could be a bigger step toward a single-payer system than the milquetoast public option plans rejected by Senate moderates as too disruptive of the private market.

As the perhaps obstinate and petulant, but hardly Republican WaPo presents it, there is no way to predict what unintended consequences may follow.

But Republican opposition is based on broader considerations. Expanding Medicare would be a step towards a single payer plan. But it was also mean expanding a program that is on schedule to go broke in only a few years. It also looks like more sleight of hand on the Democrat's part. They are already counting on dramatic cuts in Medicare to make other parts of the bill look more affordable. As the WaPo points out, Medicare reimbursement rates are already too low to sustain hospital and doctor care, which results in a shift of costs to private insurance. The medical establishment is vehemently criticizing the idea.

This looks like a big mess. Rumors that a deal has been reached appear to be greatly exaggerated. I am not even certain that there is a coherent idea here. Meanwhile the petulant and obstinate public continues to oppose the bill by wide margins. Quinnipiac and Rasmussen put the 52% opposed/38% in favor, and 51/41 respectively. Worse news for reform is the CNN poll, which has 61% opposed and only 36% in favor. That's the first time to my knowledge that opposition has risen above 60%. If it's on track, the CNN poll is disastrous news for Harry Reid.

In opposing the Senate reform bill, Senator Thune is not only exercising common sense. He is standing on behalf of the majority of the American people.

New Compromise… Bet That Makes You Feel Better?!? – Video

Democrats: Medicare Expansion the Ultimate Public Option - Video

WASHINGTON - -- The unexpected new proposal for breaking the impasse over the so-called public option won President Barack Obama's endorsement Wednesday and sent hopes surging among a wide array of Democrats that the way may be clearing to pass their massive Senate health care bill by Christmas.
The deal, which emerged late Tuesday night after days of secret negotiations, would eliminate the new government-run insurance plan that many liberals had seen as the linchpin of meaningful reform.

But paradoxically, what lies at the heart of the compromise may be a more durable, if initially smaller, form of the public option: an expansion of Medicare, the huge federal health insurance program for seniors, to include millions of Americans ages 55 through 64.

And by enlarging Medicare eligibility, the compromise could sharply expand the base of political support, giving ordinary Americans a concrete stake in what many may have seen as a distant battle among drug companies, doctors and other interests.
Under the deal hammered out by 10 Democratic negotiators, potentially millions of Americans 55 to 64 could sign up for a program that has become a vital safety net for the country's retirees since it was created more than four decades ago.
That prospect has excited some proponents of creating a single-payer system, who saw even the weak government program in the original bill as a "camel's nose under the tent" in their drive to ensure that all Americans get a government-provided insurance plan.

"Expanding Medicare is an unvarnished, complete victory for people like me," said Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y. "It's the mother of all public options. We've taken something people know and expanded it. ... Never mind the camel's nose, we've got his head and neck under the tent."

Todd Swim, a partner with the health benefits consulting firm Mercer, said a Medicare expansion could also have profound effects on employers and their workers.

"Access to medical care is one of the biggest inhibitors to retiring early, and a lot of people are going to be looking at that as an option," he said.

Although Americans in this age group are more likely to have insurance than those in their 20s or 30s, they often have a very difficult time getting coverage because many have pre-existing medical conditions.

Next year, most Medicare beneficiaries will pay a monthly premium of $110.50.

"The price point will be much more affordable than any option they have," Swim said.

Chicago Tribune

**Everyone I have heard talk about this today has said that this new Medicare enlargement will absolutely bring us to a single payer system much much sooner than any of the other options in any of the other bills. They took out the "Public Option" wording and intend to roll over us and pass this regardless of what we want. The GOP has been standing up but the Dems are not listening to anything they say. We absolutely need to keep up the pressure and hammer the possible fence sitters letting them know that if they vote for this this are out, even if they are not up for election in 2010.

I heard Lieberman earlier today blabbering on about he didn't know what was in this new version/compromise. Who cares what is in it.... We don't want the whole thing and we know whatever is in it, it is full of lies and bad things. Lieberman needs to vote no and we really need to pressure him!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mayo Clinic has come out absolutely against this bill and the latest compromise!!!

20% of hospitals and convalescent homes announce that they will close their doors under the latest Medicare Compromise measure and many others will not take the coverage!!

This could finally be the nail in the coffin of ObamaCare. 61% of the American people are absolutely against an form of ObamaCare; and another 20% are unhappy about the present reform. So the Dems in and Congress the White House are planning to ignore 81% of the American people and cram a bill that will increase costs, reduce services, invade your privacy, takeaway your choices and decision making, and in the opinion of more and more doctors reduce lifespans and increase early death due to rationing and the decrease of early detection.

Please call/Contact your senator!! Several additional Senators appear to be, at least waffling, and then there are the 17 initial Fence Sitters that Harry Reid and the White House are frantically trying to buy off and threaten to vote their way. Please stand up America~

From the Laptop of Rep John Campbell to Yours… On PelosiCare

Click here to visit my website

Quote of the day: “In 2009, we need to redefine freedom, and freedom, in America, in 2009, means being healthy and having access to a healthcare system that isn’t just for the elite, but it’s for everybody.”

- Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) while speaking about the Pelosi Health Care Bill on the floor yesterday

I find the quote above quite instructive about those who supported this monstrosity of a bill. Many people in prison are healthy and they certainly have access to a government-run health care system. So, I guess they are free, at least according to the modern Pelosi-driven Democratic ethos. Yet, Pelosi style Health Care is not for everybody, because the bill expressly says that Members of Congress may join the government plan but are not required to do so. So, there is an elite, and it is government.

This is really what this and many other current debates are about. Are we going to be free, I mean really free, to live our lives as we want in the future? Or will we only be "free" in this new liberal sense where we are to be taken care of as long as we do what we are told? Will the "elite" be people who earn that ability due to their own self-driven accomplishments or will they be only those who hold the power of government?

As it was made clear yesterday, the bill requires everyone to buy a health insurance plan as determined by the new "Health Choices Czar." And if you don't, you will be fined with a tax of 2.5% on your gross income. If you neither buy the insurance they tell you to, nor pay the fine they assess on you, you will committed a felony deemed punishable by up to 5 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine. So, if you don't buy the health insurance the government's Health Choices Czar tells you too regardless of its cost, you may go to jail.

That's freedom?

It has been interesting to listen to Democrat after Democrat rise to speak in support of 2,042 pages of government control. Most of them will mention that they are for it because people will get some form of medical attention under this bill for free. No medical care is free. If someone doesn't pay for it, either the doctor donates his time or someone else pays the doctor instead of the person getting treated. So, every time someone gets something for free under this bill, the value of that service was taken by the compulsion of government from someone else, often with threat of jail time. That is not freedom. That is the tyranny of socialism. That is Pelosi's and Obama's legacy.

Unfortunately, late last night, the Pelosi Socialized Medicine Bill was passed by the House by a vote of 220-215. Here is the organization chart of the new Pelosi care bill with all 111 new departments, commissions or agencies:

Click here to view full size

It was a terrible night for freedom loving Americans. But it is far from the end of the road. This bill is not law yet. In order to get the bare minimum votes she needed (plus 2) Pelosi had to agree to ban abortion funding in the bill, which is existing law. But, the relevant committee chairmen all indicated that they plan to take that prohibition out of the bill later. If that happens, a number of Democrats who voted for the bill have said they will oppose it. There were reportedly lots of other deals made to secure this one vote, but those deals may not stick for a future vote. Socialized medicine will still have to pass the Senate and the narrowness of this vote along with the clear public opposition to this madness has got to be spooking many Senators. Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-NV) has indicated that the Senate will not take up any Health Care bill until after the first of the year and they are unlikely to take up anything like this.

We have lost a battle, but the war for freedom goes on. Keep fighting. You can be sure I will.

I remain respectfully,

Tea Partiers Make House Call on Capitol Hill – NO on Obama/Pelosi Care

10,000 Tea Party members descended on Capitol Hill Thursday to rally against a Democratic health care overhaul.

November 5, 2009 - Tea partiers hit Capitol

Patriots gather at the capitol steps to stop the destruction of our healthcare and freedoms!!

The Tea Party holds no seat in Congress, but at least 10,000 of the party’s members descended on Capitol Hill Thursday to rally against a Democratic-written health care overhaul.

A plan first hatched and heralded on FOX by iconic conservative Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) grew over the weekend as she e-mailed with a handful of colleagues. By the time activists started arriving at the foot of the Capitol around 8:30 a.m., it was clear no Republican leader could stay away.

Minority Leader John Boehner, Republican Whip Eric Cantor and Conference Chairman Mike Pence all spoke.

Inside, Democrats were working to finalize a trillion-dollar health care bill that they say will deliver insurance to tens of millions of Americans who currently lack it, improve the quality of care and rein in costs both for individuals and the government.

Outside, on the grassy lawn just steps from where Barack Obama took the oath of office, an endless lineup of rank-and-file lawmakers and conservative All Stars – Bachmann, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, actor Jon Voigt and Mark Levin, author of “Liberty and Tyranny” – demanded that the health care bill be torn asunder.

“Madam Speaker, throw out this bill,” bellowed Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.).

“Oh come on, tell them how you really feel,” Bachmann yelled to the crowd from a temporary podium at the foot of the Capitol.

“Kill the bill! Kill the bill! Kill the bill!” the crowd replied.

“That’s exactly what you’re going to tell them,” said Bachmann, who was the clear favorite of the assembled masses.

“She has more cojones than a lot of guys,” said Barbara McGrath, who traveled from Troy, Ohio, to participate.

When she took the microphone, Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) pointed to the three House office buildings across Independence Avenue from the rally.

“I invite you, when the rally's over, to travel in those halls, look at the walls, find your (member) and walk in," she said. "Let them know how you feel about this bill."

Within an hour, activists were lined up down Independence Avenue to go through the magnetometers in the lobby of the Rayburn Office Building so they could confront members and staff. Bachman told them to each take a page – or a piece of a page – from one of two copies of the bill at the podium and ask a member to explain the text to them.

Bachmann’s office and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district office were surrounded by the Tea Partiers shortly after the rally ended, and the floor outside Pelosi’s office was covered in pages of the bill.

The elderly Seniors need to realize what the Obama Health Care Plan is really all about.

Obama's Health Care Plan is much, much more than just a different way of dealing with who pays for the medical treatments of patients. Obama's Health Care Plan is a amalgamation of different Obama and other leftist objectives residing under the banner of Obama Health care Plan. This Health Care plan is just a handy method and means of leftists to further their agenda of "Changing" America into their leftist visions of what America should be.

The Obama Health Care Plan was never about a fair and better health care Plan for all American citizens as the leftist democrats so often proclaimed but a well thought out and executed ploy ending up putting more control in their hands and allowing them to grab more control of peoples lives. The Obama, Leftist democratic Health care Plan is about government control allowing them to establish and place an official government value on peoples lives, who's lives in their opinion, merited spending money on to save according to a scale set by government elitists in Washington.

This isn't a very comforting thought if your one of the elderly citizens who's life would now be in their hands if they succeed in getting Obama's Health Care Plan passed. (And everyone should remember that with any luck, we all will someday be elderly and the program and laws will only get worse, not better, for those young people who think… “Who cares, its only old people.?”)

What is another of the other objectives the leftist democrats under the guise of Obama's Health Care Plan. The Democrats have used Minorities in the service of the party to promote and secure their elections to government office, The democrats have advanced and paid attention to the immigrants welfare and well being over the American citizens, especially the elderly citizens. The democrats view the elderly as a fading citizenry who are of little significance or importance any longer and so can dismiss them out of hand and they obviously feel they can disregard and shove them aside, and slight them without any consequence to themselves. The elderly’s opinions and day in the sun is gone, they believe, time for the democrats to snuff Grandpa and grandma if it suits their purpose, time is of the essence. Immigrants now have the democrats undivided attention, let them, the elderly, eat cake, pound sand, or whatever… just get out of the way the democrats proclaim, there's the minorities vote to get and we don't care if we have to throw grandma under the bus to get it!

Health Insurance for the immigrants, end of life coinciding for the elderly, and of course, a green or yellow pill for grandma and grandpa.

... adiós, hasta la vista

..grandma and grandpa...the elderly, and eventually the handicapped and mentally challenge… and???

And just what is in this bill? Well, having had it for less than 24 hours, I can't tell you everything. But here are a few facts you may find interesting:

  • It is 1990 pages long.
  • It has about 400,000 words.
  • It contains a government-run "option,” which will effectively not be optional over the next 5-8 years.
  • It spends over $1 trillion. That amounts to over $2.2 million per word. (Some estimate the cost at $1.75 trillion during the first 10-years of the plan… it goes up later).
  • It uses the word "shall" 3,429 times. So, 3,429 times it ‘compels’ someone to do or not do something.
  • But one place where it uses the word "may" is in reference to whether Members of Congress "may" join the government run system. So, much of the public will be forced onto the government-run system but we in Congress will not. (Do what I say, not what I do)
  • It increases taxes on small business, wealthy individuals, all medical devices (including wheelchairs, bandages, and such), people who save for their own health care costs through health savings accounts, payroll taxes and anyone who does not buy health insurance.
  • It authorizes government funding of abortions, which is not allowed under current federal law.
  • Any state that has a limit on attorney's fees or punitive damage awards in malpractice cases (like California) must change that law to remove all limits or the state loses federal money under the bill. (blatant trial lawyer provision)
  • Your medical procedures will be taxed. (If you are a senior and are lucky enough to get the allowance for a pace maker, from the head of the death panel (no matter what they call them, you will pay taxes on the full gov’t estimated cost, whether the procedure is covered by Medicare or your Health Insurance
  • It creates 111 New Federal Bureaucracies... that the American People will pay for.

And that's just the beginning…

Fact Check: President Obama Repeats Falsehoods in Joint Session Speech

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 /Standard Newswire/ -- Last night during his address to a joint session of Congress on the topic of health care, President Obama again repeated many claims that simply aren't true. But despite the President's rhetoric, the Democrats' health care bills will force millions of Americans out of their current health care plans, add to the federal deficit, and increase Americans' health care costs. Following are some of the discredited claims the President repeated last night:

CLAIM: "...[N]othing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Let me repeat this: nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have."

FACT: This marked an important change in the President's language last night. He used to say, "If you like your health-care plan, you keep your health-care plan." By now using the word "require," the President's admitting that they can't guarantee Americans will keep their health plan. After both the Associated Press, ABC News and others have thoroughly debunked this claim, it's not surprising the White House has made this shift. But the point is that no one knows for sure how many employers will drop their coverage altogether if their plan goes into effect. Experts at the Lewin Group estimate the number could be more than 100 million Americans. And $500 billion in Medicare cuts will obviously reduce the quality of care America's seniors receive.

CLAIM: "The plan will not add to our deficit...I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits -- either now or in the future. Period."

FACT: According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the House Democrats' bill would increase the deficit by $239 billion over 10 years. And a recent study by the Lewin Group found that "[i]n the second 10 years...the proposal would add an estimated $1 trillion to the federal deficit."

CLAIM: "(I)t will slow the growth of health care costs for our families, our businesses, and our government."

FACT: As the Associated Press has reported, the Democrats' plan will increase costs, rather than lower them: "Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf warned lawmakers the legislation that he has seen so far would raise costs, not lower them."

CLAIM: "f you come to me with a serious set of proposals, I will be there to listen. My door is always open."

FACT: The Hill reported yesterday, that the President has not met with House Republicans since April, and when Republican Leaders asked for a meeting to discuss health care in a May 14 letter, the President ignored the request. The Politico reported on the President' response on June 5, saying, "he makes no mention of the request to meet in the letter," which he signs off by stating, "Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with me and I look forward to further discussions on this critically important issue." But those "further discussions" simply didn't happen. The facts are clear: blame for the lack of bipartisanship in the current health care debate lies squarely at the feet of Washington Democrats.

CLAIM: "I will not stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are."

FACT: This is an interesting assertion considering the President also said last night: "Our overall efforts have been supported by an unprecedented coalition of doctors and nurses; hospitals, seniors' groups and even drug companies." So what special interests is he talking about when the White House seems to have struck back room deals with so many of them?

CLAIM: "We've estimated that most of this plan can be paid for by finding savings within the existing health care system -- a system that is currently full of waste and abuse."

FACT: The massive $1.6 trillion House bill's cost is NOT mostly "paid for" through savings in the existing health care system -- not by a long shot. In fact, the House bill includes more than $800 billion in new tax increases during a severe economic downturn on families and employers to "pay for" most of the massive price tag. And, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated that even with these tax increases, coupled with other "pay fors" in the bill such as cuts to Medicare, the House bill still has a revenue shortfall that will add $239 billion to the federal deficit over a ten year period. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce wrote in an open letter to Congress raising concerns about a $534 billion small business tax in July: "Even with some exemptions, this provision will kill many jobs. Market forces and employer autonomy should determine what benefits employers provide, rather than Congress."

CLAIM: "And one more misunderstanding I want to clear up -- under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place."

FACT: During his quest for the presidency, now-President Obama declared that everyone deserves access to reproductive health care that includes abortion, and vowed that this "right" would be at the heart of his health care reform plan if elected president. President Obama has never retracted this vow, and the health care reform bill moving through the House would help him make good on it if enacted into law. As written, it would allow the U.S. Secretary of Health & Human Services (HHS) to include abortion as a benefit in the government-run health care option. Many Democrats dispute this, pointing to the recent adoption of an amendment sponsored by Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) that would prohibit federal dollars from being used to fund abortion. But under this amendment, the HHS Secretary is explicitly authorized to pay for elective abortions under the government-run insurance plan.

Some have also suggested that the government-run plan would not result in government-funded abortions because it will be subject to the "Hyde Amendment," but this argument is misleading as well. The Hyde Amendment is not a government-wide applied law, but a rather provision included in the annual HHS Appropriations bill, which bans federal funding of elective abortions. According to a memo produced by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service, the government-option will not be funded through the appropriations process. For this reason, it will not be subject to the Hyde Amendment. The truth of the matter is that the HHS Secretary will be allowed to include abortion as a benefit in the government-run health care plan under the legislation currently moving through the House. Moreover, FactCheck.Org has stated that the "House bill would allow abortions to be covered by a federal plan and by federally subsidized private plans."

CLAIM: "Now, there are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I am proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

FACT: The non-partisan Congressional Research Service confirms in a report that there is no mechanism included in the bill to verify that individuals are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants before they receive government benefits. Furthermore, Republicans offered two amendments in the Ways and Means, and Energy and Commerce Committees that were rejected by Democrats. The first would have prevented illegal immigrants from being automatically enrolled into Medicaid and the second would have required better screening for applicants for federally-subsidized health care to ensure they are actually citizens or legal immigrants. If a public option is included in HC reform, illegal immigrants will be covered using “No ask, No tell”.

Also there is a provision in the bill for free translation services in the bill. The obvious question is… “Why would we need this if we were not planning on covering illegal aliens.

HR 3200 (ObamaCare) and Illegals

Just about the time the Center for Immigration Studies was holding a press briefing at the National Press Club about the immigration and health reform connection, proponents from President Obama on down were denying that illegal aliens would receive taxpayer-funded health care under pending legislation.

I’m here to tell you, as I told the Press Club crowd, the legislation on the table does, honest to goodness, effectively extend coverage to illegal aliens.

Take the premium subsidy in the House bill, H.R. 3200. This lies in the part of the legislation (Division A, Title II) that creates a Health Choices Administration, adds the infamous “public option,” sets up and runs the “exchange” clearinghouse for getting insurance, and controls a graduated premium subsidy program through allocation of “individual affordability credits.”

The subsidy, found in Section 242, will give a voucher to people earning between 133 percent of the official poverty level and 400 percent of that income level (or, up to about $88,000 a year for a family of four).

Legal immigrants certainly qualify under H.R. 3200 for this subsidy. Section 242(a)(1) makes eligible "an individual who is lawfully present in a State in the United States (other than as a nonimmigrant described in a subparagraph (excluding subparagraphs (K), (T), (U), and (V)) of section 101(a)(15) of the Immigration and Nationality Act)."

A political fig leaf purports to keep illegal aliens from receiving the subsidy. Section 246 says, "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

However, reading the legislation as a whole, its glaring omission is any requirement to verify someone’s immigration or citizenship status. For instance, H.R. 3200 makes no reference to the verification system in current law that’s used for nearly all government welfare and other public programs. If lawmakers wanted enrolling agents, including bureaucrats at the new Health Choices Administration, to use the Systematic Alienage Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system, the bill should include a reference and authorize SAVE’s application to this government program.

In other words, the silence of H.R. 3200 regarding SAVE and mandatory verification makes Section 246 just empty words. In fact, the Ways and Means Committee outright voted down an amendment by Rep. Dean Heller to require eligibility verification before qualifying someone to receive a taxpayer subsidy. Also, "lawfully present" covers a lot of ground. Does it include someone here under Temporary Protected Status, for instance? Again, the absence of eligibility verification requirements leaves open a lot of room for waste, fraud, and abuse.

A similar situation of setting up blinders occurs in H.R. 3200’s Medicaid provisions. Division B’s Title VII, Section 1701 expands Medicaid eligibility to those with incomes a third above the federal poverty level. This provision dictates that "the State shall accept without further determination the enrollment under this title of an individual determined by the Commissioner to be a non-traditional Medicaid eligible individual." In other words, the bill prohibits asking any further questions about new Medicaid enrollees.

Rather, the bill section promotes "presumptive eligibility" concerning Medicaid expansion. Read it for yourself, right from Section 1702(a):

(ii) PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY OPTION- Pursuant to such memorandum, insofar as the memorandum has selected the option described in section 205(e)(3)(B) of the America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, the State shall provide for making medical assistance available during the presumptive eligibility period and shall, upon application of the individual for medical assistance under this title, promptly make a determination (and subsequent redeterminations) of eligibility in the same manner as if the individual had applied directly to the State for such assistance except that the State shall use the income-related information used by the Commissioner and provided to the State under the memorandum in making the presumptive eligibility determination to the maximum extent feasible. (emphasis added)

And, once again, the lack of any provision mentioning or requiring verification, mandatory use of the SAVE system under this part of the bill, or any other accountability requirement opens the process up to signing up illegal aliens for Medicaid.

In the Energy and Commerce Committee, a mandatory verification amendment was voted down when Rep. Nathan Deal offered it. A political fig leaf amendment was added by voice vote, but the loopholes and potential for waste, fraud, and abuse remain wide open in the Medicaid provisions.

Whatever you think of health reform, a combination of things makes it certain that illegal aliens will receive government health coverage. The most obvious is the omission — heck, the outright rejection of corrective amendments — of eligibility verification requirements. The other factor is the designed ease of enrolling people in Medicaid, for "affordability credits," and the like.

Bottom line, the health legislation Congress is considering establishes an "enroll now, don’t ask questions later" regime. That’s a recipe for covering more people, but many of whom may not actually qualify. A huge number are almost guaranteed to be illegal aliens or legal immigrants still in their first five years in the country who are supposed to turn to their visa sponsor for financial support. And having more people in a public program translates pretty quickly into higher costs. In this case, we’re talking on the order of tens and hundreds of billions of dollars.

Health Care Bill Requires Free Translation Services

For anyone who still doesn’t believe that ObamaCare intends to cover illegal aliens while rationing elderly Americans and Legal Aliens… check this out: free translation services of non-English Speaking patients?!?

Take Action!

Strike Section 1221 (b) from H.R. 3200

Urgent alert! Please act now!

Health Care Reform legislation now pending in Congress would require doctors and hospitals to provide interpreters and translation services free of charge to non-English speaking patients.

That will add $billions to the cost of health care and give immigrants even less incentive to learn English.

The "America's Affordable Health Choices Act," H.R. 3200, Section 1221 (b) says Medicare health care providers that fail to "substantially provide language services to limited English proficient beneficiaries" face severe fines and penalties.

This is outrageous. Medicare is already bankrupt. Now medical providers also will have to provide free translation services.

Send a free email message to your congressional representatives and demand that they remove entitlements to language translation services from health care reform legislation!

Please "Take Action" now!

Senator Lieberman: Postpone Universal Healthcare

One of the Senate's most powerful Democrats said Sunday that President Obama should take an "incremental" approach to fixing health care and argued that the country should postpone adding nearly 50 million new patients to the government system until after the recession is over.

"We morally, every one of us, would like to cover every American with health insurance," Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, told CNN's John King on the "State of the Union" program.

"But that's where you spend most of the $1 trillion plus, a little less that is estimated, the estimate said this healthcare plan will cost," he said.

"I'm afraid we've got to think about putting a lot of that off until the economy's out of recession," he added.

"There's no reason we have to do it all now, but we do have to get started. And I think the place to start is health delivery reform and insurance market reforms."

John King asked Lieberman if it was "time for the president to hit the reset button? Forget sweeping healthcare reform this year, do three or four incremental things that are less costly?"

Lieberman responded: "In a word, yes. I don't think -- I give the president tremendous credit for taking on the healthcare problem. And it really is a problem that we've got to deal with. But he took it on at a very difficult time that was not of his making.

"In other words, we're in a recession. People are very worried about their jobs, about the economic future. They've watched us add to the debt of this country. We're projected to run a $1.8 trillion deficit this year, September 30th, more than $1 trillion next year. You mentioned the 10-year numbers. People are nervous, I think the protests coming out at the public meetings around the country this month are as much to do with that larger environment as they are with questions about healthcare reform. I think great changes in our country often have come in steps. The civil rights movement occurred — changes occurred in steps. Let's focus now on how to reduce costs. That's been a central theme of the president.

"Let's talk about how to change the way health care is delivered. Let's talk about protecting people from not getting insurance because of pre-existing illness. Let's take off the caps on the amount of insurance coverage you can get over the years. Let's pay for preventive services for health from the first dollar. Here's the tough one. We morally, every one of us, would like to cover every American with health insurance. But that's where you spend most of the $1 trillion plus, a little less that is estimated, the estimate said this healthcare plan will cost."

Lieberman also said he oppose any attempt his colleagues to use a Senate maneuver called "reconciliation," in which only 51 votes — rather than 60 — would be needed to overcome opposition to a health care bill.

"I think it's a real mistake to try to jam through the total health insurance reform, healthcare reform plan that the public is either opposed to or of very, very passionate mixed minds about," he said. "It's just not good for the system, frankly, it won't be good for the Obama presidency."

Senator Jon Kyl: GOP (and Most Americans) Opposes Democrats Approach to Healthcare – “Let’s Start Over!”

Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday that Republicans remain opposed to the Democratic approach on healthcare even when the legislation excludes a public insurance option, signaling the difficult road ahead for a bipartisan bill.

In a conference call with reporters, Kyl, a member of the Senate Finance Committee that is currently drafting a health bill, suggested Democrats start over in September with a “different approach” rather than continue debating ideas that are unlikely to win more than a handful of Republican votes.

The White House and congressional Democrats have signaled in recent days that they would drop the contentious public insurance option in favor of a plan creating co-operatives. But Kyl said Republicans still have too many problems with the bill's cost and scope.

"I think it's safe to say there are a huge number of big issues that people have," Kyl said. "Let's start with the cost of it. There's no way that Republicans are going to support a trillion-dollar-plus bill."

Kyl predicted the idea of a government co-operative plan wouldn't receive any significant Republican support because the party still objects to the premise behind it.

"As Democrats have said, it doesn't matter what you call it — they want it to accomplish something that Republicans are opposed to, and that is a step toward government-run healthcare in the country," Kyl said. "It's by another name, and it is a Trojan horse, and therefore no, I don't believe that Republicans will be inclined to support a bill because of that one relatively insignificant section in the House bill.”

Kyl said Republicans prefer a narrower approach that targets costs and the factors behind the costs, but that Democrats voted down those proposals in committee debates. The GOP would prefer to see ideas such as medical malpractice lawsuit limits, an expansion of private healthcare tax breaks and the abandonment of employer-mandated healthcare. The Democrat-led approach to healthcare also doesn't include enough allowances for states to experiment with their own healthcare ideas, Kyl said.

The Arizona senator rejected the suggestion that Republicans were to blame for any "scare campaigns" designed to derail healthcare, stating that the party instead is simply reflecting public sentiment. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) used her Facebook page last week to ignite a national charge that President Barack Obama's intentions for healthcare include government-run "death panels," based on a provision in a House bill that called for publicly funded doctor-family consultations on end-of-life care.

Kyl noted that many of the organizations that opposed health reform during the Clinton administration in the 1990s have now been "neutralized" by the Obama administration. The American Medical Association and AARP are among the groups that support the Democrat-led reform efforts. A House bill calls for voluntary consultations between a doctor and a family, although Kyl said the payment is compulsory if a doctor reports the counseling session.

“Because of public opposition to that provision, I think there's no question that it's going to be dropped,” he said. “I totally reject the notion that the only reason the American people oppose this is because somebody on the Republican side has deliberately spread misinformation about the plan.”

“let’s Start Over” seems to be the new Healthcare Battle cry from moderate and conservative politicians and the majority of Americans. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver – Democrat from Missouri's Fifth District said the same thing earlier today.

Americans want to fix what is wrong with the present healthcare system and keep what is good… not throw it out and start over!! Tort reform and fraud control, plus some sensible changes in the medical insurance rules like portable coverage, focus on prevention, inclusion of alternative and holistic medicine and supplements, no more exclusion for pre-existing conditions, allowing the self-employed and small businesses to form and buy insurance as consortiums, allowing inter-state sales of insurance and tighter regulation of Big Pharma and the AMA would pretty much take care of the uninsured and spiraling costs. Take out covering people who are in the U.S. illegally and paying for abortions and unnecessary elective surgeries and allowing ideas from the Republicans and any politicians and companies who have made positive changes in healthcare or learned from trial and error and we could reform American healthcare without destroying the best coverage in the world or giving up our freedoms.

The answer is throw out all 5-bills presently being considered and start over with focused reform instead of destroying a system that works for over 85% of Americans and Legal Residents. So “let’s Start Over” on this reform!
