Obama's Uncle: He's Using Buchenwald for Political Purpose

Barack Obama's great uncle offered some blunt language as to why his nephew is visiting the memorial at the former Buchenwald concentration camp next week during his trip to Europe and the Middle East.

“This is a trip that he chose, not because of me I'm sure, but for political reasons,” Charles Payne told the German magazine Spiegel. “Perhaps his visit also has something to do with improving his standing with (German Chancellor) Angela Merkel. She gave him a hard time during his campaign and also afterwards.”

Obama will visit Saudi Arabia, make a long-awaited speech to the Muslim world in Cairo, travel to Dresden and the Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp in Germany, and attend D-Day commemorations in France. His uncle said he'd love to tag along if he gets a lift on Air Force One.

Payne, 84, is no stranger to Americans: The Obama campaign used his WWII experiences last year to burnish the candidate’s all-American upbringing. But Obama made a gaffe when he said his great uncle liberated Auschwitz. In fact, Payne was part of the force that liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp, in April 1945.

Payne told Spiegel that he was shocked to see his war experience, especially his "liberation" of a concentration camp, used in campaign commercials. He said he had never spoken with his nephew about the matter, nor did Obama ever express any interest in Payne's experience.

“I was quite surprised when the whole thing came up and Barack talked about my war experiences in Nazi Germany,” Payne said. “We had never talked about that before.”

Payne doesn’t know where Obama came up with the fictitious Auschwitz connection.

“He couldn't have gotten it from me since we had never talked about this particular episode in the war,” said Payne. “My sister and her husband were both great storytellers and sometimes made up the details to go along with it.

“They told him about my deployment with the 89th Infantry Division and apparently they mixed up a few details,” Payne said. “Of course it came out immediately that he was wrong since there are enough people in America who know that Auschwitz is in the East and that the camp was liberated by the Red Army.”

After the mistake was made, Obama called Payne to get the correct details.

“He wanted to know where this camp was that I had helped liberate,” Payne said. “I told him that it was Ohrdruf and that it was a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp. I described a little bit of what I had seen.”

Payne stressed that he has no political ax to grind. He is a life-long Democrat, but said he isn’t particularly close to his famous relative.

“Our relationship is warm and friendly, but I'm not part of his inner circle. We always have an interesting chat when we get in the same room together. He doesn't call me up and ask what I have to say about world policy or anything. And I never offer my opinions on any of this.”

In the article, Payne described an incident very similar to what many members of the “Greatest Generation” had experienced. A young man from Kansas, he had little knowledge of the world and few opinions about Germany or foreign policy in general before landing in Europe for the liberation.

“Everybody who was able-bodied was drafted,” Payne recalled. “I went down right at the time I graduated and told the lady that ran the Selective Service office. I said, ‘I'm ready to go,’ and she said: ‘Don't you worry about it, honey. You're on the list.’ Since I had been colorblind since birth, I was first turned down by the Air Force, then by the Navy and the Marines. Only the Army didn't care and put me into the infantry.”

Raised in Kansas, Payne did his basic training at North Camp Hood, Texas.

“What did you think about the Germans at the time?” Spiegel asked him.

“I am unable to tell you what I was thinking then. That was a long time ago, and as I told you, until Barack misspoke, I hadn't thought about any of this for a very, very long time,” Payne said.

“They were the enemy, evil incarnate, and we were the good guys coming to save the world. We were all for the war. We all wanted to be in it. That doesn't mean we enjoyed being in it, though,” he said. He then described his experiences in Europe.

“At first there was no front,” he said. “Because there were no facilities for our ship, we couldn't anchor in the harbor. Le Havre had been summarily bombed. They finally took us off in the middle of the night on landing barges. It was bitter cold and snowing. There was about three or four inches of water sloshing around in the bottom. So we landed at Le Havre in bitter cold with wet feet. Soon afterwards we had a large number of people who suffered from frostbite. The camp doctors were forced to amputate fingers, toes, and feet and send these soldiers back to the United States. For them the war was over.

“Ohrdruf was in that string of towns going across, south of Gotha and Erfurt,” Payne said, describing his arrival near the concentration camp. “Our division was the first one in there. When we arrived there were no German soldiers anywhere around that I knew about. There was no fighting with the Germans, no camp guards. The whole area was overrun by people from the camp dressed in the most pitiful rags, and most of them were in a bad state of starvation. The first thing I saw was a dead body lying square in the middle of the front gate.

“Inside the gate was an area where a bunch of the camp inmates had been machine gunned and were all lying on the ground,” Payne continued. “Each one had their tin cup in their hand or lying next to them.”

The interviewer asked him to describe his feelings when he was "confronted with these images.”

Payne said he doesn’t like to think about it, and hadn’t for a long time until Obama’s gaffe caused all the harsh memories of that time to come back in force.

“You know, I am unable to tell you what I was thinking then,” Payne said. “That was a long time ago, and as I told you, until Barack misspoke, I hadn't thought about any of this for a very, very long time. In fact, I guess I prefer not to think about it. I can assure you I was horrified by the lengths to which men will go to mistreat other men. This was, to me, almost unbelievable. There was more: There were sheds full of dead bodies that had been stripped and thrown in and then stacked up on top of each other. I don't know how many, but many high and the whole length of the room. They sprinkled lime to keep the smell down. That's about the extent that I remember actually seeing.

“I am puzzled by intelligent people who stand by and allow their country to be taken over and run by extreme radical types,” Payne said. “I'm still somewhat puzzled by that. And I am fully aware that it could happen and has almost happened in this country. You know, I lived through the McCarthy era in the 1950s, when it was getting dangerously close to that sort of thing.”

This follows the news in January that Barack Obama's brother George was arrested on drug charges in Kenya.

This story is reminiscent of the Edwards scandal.

The British media was all over it. The US media... not a peep.

Barrack Obama's Questionable Birth Certificate... Is He Really Visiting His Sick Granny or Taking A Few Days to Produce Another Altered Document??

RUSH: "Barack Obama says he doesn't want to make the same mistake with his grandmother that he made with his dying mother," so today he's jetting off to Hawaii to make sure that doesn't happen.  He was on The Early Show this morning with Harry Smith, and Smith said, "Lincoln said, 'All I ever hoped to be, I owe to her,' in speaking about his mother.  Your grandmother, very much like a mother to you, how important is this trip?"

OBAMA:  It's very important to me.  My grandmother is the last one left, uh, she has really been the rock of the family and the foundation of the family, uh, whatever strength, discipline, uh, that I have, uh, it comes from her.

SMITH:  You said in the past that you regretted your own mother's illness and her death came so quickly, you didn't have time to get back to --

RUSH:  Stop the tape here a minute.  Stop, recue this.  Harry Smith is doing everything here but crying, everything but crying here.  This is an embarrassment.  You people in the media, you don't even care how embarrassing this is, you do not even care.  Here it is again from the top.

OBAMA:  It's very important to me.  My grandmother's the last one left, uh --

RUSH:  Right.

OBAMA:  She has really been the rock of the family.

RUSH:  I know.

OBAMA:  And the foundation of the family, uh--

RUSH:  Absolutely right.

OBAMA:  Whatever the strength, discipline, uh --

RUSH:  Hawaii all these years.

RUSH:  Now, Harry Smith is very, very worried, ladies and gentlemen, that this could hurt Obama's campaign.

SMITH:  Some people say there's risk involved in this, with so little time left.

OBAMA:  Yeah.  Well, the, uh, I think most people understand, uh, that if you're not, um, caring for your family, uh, then you're probably not, uh, the kind of person who's going to be caring for other people.

RUSH:  Yeah, right.  Okay.  Now, I have some questions here, ladies and gentlemen.  If Obama has this election in the bag, if he has this election in the bag, which they're all saying, I mean, he's building the stage. They're already putting together this massive little stage out there in Grant Park in Chicago.  They're making all these postelection plans. They're working on the transition team.  If it's in the bag, Obama, please, stop spending money on TV and radio spots.  Stop raising more money.  You already have tons of it.  Stop campaigning all over the country.  You're

 wasting fuel.  You're emitting carbon dioxide along the way.  If it's over, then behave like it's over.  By the way, I'd like to be a little bit more inquisitive than the average reporter out there and observe that we've been hearing and reading for at least three days now that Obama's grandmother is deathly ill and that he's going to rush to her side in Hawaii.  

Now, if he's already won the presidency, why hasn't he already gone to Hawaii?  Why is he not already there?  What's he waiting for?  "If she's deathly ill," I'm pretending to be a reporter here.  You know they'd ask McCain these questions.  "If Obama's grandmother is deathly ill, why has this been announced days ago and he's only going now," or tomorrow, or whenever it is.  Now, I understand, folks, Snerdley's got his head buried in his hands.  I understand this, my friends, anything said about Obama is going to be turned into an unfair racist attack on the man.  Am I not asking obvious questions?  Who announces days in advance they're rushing to the side of a loved one who is deathly ill but keeps campaigning in a race that's said to be over, only to go to the loved one's side days later?  See, I think this is about something else.  You know what's

 really percolating out there?  I've been layin

g low on this because it hasn't met the threshold to  pass the smell test on this program.  

This birth certificate business, this lawsuit that a guy named Philip Berg filed in Philadelphia in August for Obama to produce his genuine birth certificate and he still hasn't replied.  You've got a deathly ill grandmother, you are going to rush to her side a few days from now, when you first announced this, you're going to rush, you're going to hurry, you're going to make tracks, you're going to get over there because you don't want your grandmother to die before you got there like your mother did, but somehow you keep campaigning, you take three days to get over there, if he's left yet, and this birth certificate business, I'm just wondering if something's up.  I have no

 clue, and folks, I'm telling you, this has not reached the threshold until now, and it's popping up

 all over the place.  There are a lot of people now that are starting to speculate and be curious about this.  

I don't know, let's say for example that somebody does come up with proof that something's screwy with his birth certificate and something's screwy about the fact that he's allegedly a natural citizen, American citizen, but may not be, dual citizenship, born in Kenya, who knows, there's all kinds of stuff out -- so what?  What's going to happen this late in the campaign?  Do you think if it's proven that they're going to dump him?  That's not going to happen.  But still, these are just questions that I have.  And, look, both of my parents have died. When I was told the end was near, bam, I got there, fast as I could.  I didn't announce to the audience, "I just got word my father is said to be passing away and in four or five days I'm going to go to Missouri.

  In the meantime, I will not leave you here on this radio program."  These are just natural

 questions.  I think any inquisitive reporter -- I know the risk I'm running here by raising all this.  But I wouldn't be me if I didn't do that.

RUSH:  Okay.  "If you're not caring for your family..."  How about George Onyango Bodongo Hussein Obama in the hut outside Nairobi living on a dollar a month?  A $20 bill would double his half-brother's annual income.  Not even a sign "Home, Sweet Hut" has been sent to George Onyango Bodongo Hussein Obama, and how many other of Obama's family members are living in squalor?  Yeah, "if you don't take care of your family, if you don't put that first, you're probably not the kind of person that's going to be caring for other people."  You have a half-

brother living in a hut!

Below is a photo of the Certification of Live Birth produced by the Obama campaign in 2007 when the issue of Barrack's birth and qualification to run for president first arose plus a vault copy from the State of Hawaii from that era.

However, the 2007 document produced by the Obama campaign omits key information that normally appears on birth certificates in the United States, including the name of the hospital where he was born, the size and weight of the baby, and sometimes the name of the doctor who delivered him.

In addition, the critics of the 2007 document note that Obama's father is described as “African,” a term used today. The formal language in official documents at the time — 1961 — would have identified his race as “Negro” or “Colored.”

Also if you notice at the bottom this form, it was revised in November 2001 and issued in 2007, so there is a lot of room for question and changes.

The Constitution provides that any U.S. citizen is eligible to become president if the person is 35 years of age or older and is a natural-born citizen; that is, born in the territorial United States. (which includes military bases, embassies, and a few other such exceptions that are considered 'American soil'.

By failing to respond to the Request for Admissions and Request for the Production of Documents within 30 days, Obama has “admitted” that he was born in Kenya, Berg stated this week in new court filings.

By not filing the answers or objections, the defense has admitted everything. [Obama] admits he was born in Kenya. He admits he was adopted in Indonesia. He admits that the documentation posted online is a phony. And he admits that he is constitutionally ineligible to serve as president of the United States.”

Obama knows the law and this was too important just to forget!!

The lawsuit, filed by former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General Philip J. Berg — a self-avowed supporter of Hillary Clinton — alleges that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and is thus “ineligible” to run for president of the United States. It demands that Obama’s lawyers produce a copy of his original birth certificate to prove that he is a natural-born U.S. citizen.

The Web site snarkybytes.com has produced a ‘vault copy’ of a Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth from 1963, issued by the Hawaii Department of Health.  In addition to naming the hospital and more details about the baby, the supposed 1963 vault copy also includes the “usual residence of the mother,” and the “usual occupation” of the father. As you can see none of this information appears on the 2007 Live Birth certificate produced by the Obama campaign???  There is definitely something wrong here!!

 

And then we get to the point that Obama's Kenyan grandmother said she was present at the birth in Kenya.

According to FactCheck.org...

“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu (or maybe not), Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.

Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982.”

This sounds to me like Obama either held dual British Citizenship or Kenyan Citizenship and U.S. Citizenship, but if he was born on Africa, he is unqualified to be president of the United States... and he knows it.

And now there is supposedly also another birth certificate floating around that states that Obama's father was only 15% African and 85% an Arab-Muslim, which again substantiates that Barack was at least a Muslim by birth, and we know that he attended Muslim schools.

One thing I've learned in my life is... when there are this many questions and irregularities... there is a problem.  As the saying goes, "Where there is smoke there is fire."

Perhaps there is more to this trip to Hawaii to see his ailing grandmother??  If he comes up with a newly altered birth certificate when he returns... I'd say there is a problem!?!?!

In addition to Pennsylvania, the latest lawsuits have been filed in state and federal courts in Hawaii, Washington, California, Florida, Georgia, New York, and Connecticut to compel Obama to release his birth records.

Ironically, Obama mentions his birth certificate in passing on Page 26 of his 1995 memoir, “Dreams of My Father.” “I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school,” he wrote.

Lawyers for Obama and the DNC did not return calls for comment on the current status of the case, or explain why the Obama campaign did not simply put to rest the whole controversy by releasing the birth certificate that 'Obama apparently cherished as a teenager'.  Perhaps it is because it shows that he was born in Africa?

The biggest scandal of the election campaign is going unreported, for the most part, by the mainstream newspapers and TV shows. Imagine if John McCain or Sarah Palin had a half-brother who was living in a hut. Imagine if McCain, a multimillionaire, did nothing to help the guy. Imagine if McCain came to the convention and spoke incessantly about compassion and how he was inspired by the biblical mandate: we are our brothers' keepers! This would be the lead story on the evening news.

So why aren't the networks covering the fact that Barack Obama's half-brother George lives in a 6 by 10 foot hut in the slums of Kenya?  It took a reporter for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair to locate George Obama. Obama noted that when he met his famous half-brother in 2006 “we spoke for just a few minutes.   It was like meeting a complete stranger.” George Obama also told the magazine that “I live here on less than a dollar month,” and “if anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed.”  Obama has done absolutely nothing to help his unfortunate half-brother.

Apparently alarmed that this report could hurt Obama, CNN dispatched one of its reporters to do cover-up work for the Obama campaign.  This is a hopeless enterprise; anyone who sees pictures of George Obama's dwelling place on the web knows that they reveal the worst images of African poverty.  Moreover, for all its propagandistic intent, the CNN report is unintentionally damaging to Obama. The reporter cannot hide the fact that George Obama comes from a "ramshackled slum." A neighbor tells CNN that Barack Obama really should connect with his half-brother and "see how he's living" and do what he can to "improve our way of life."

CNN attempts to portray George Obama as a self-reliant fellow who doesn't want any help.  The network quotes him saying, "I was brought up well.  I live well even now."  George, however, speaks in a halting voice; he is trying to maintain his self-image.   George also says, "I'm Kenyan...I would love to live in Kenya."  Presumably George gave this answer to a question asking whether he'd like to move to the United States with Barack Obama's help.  These answers, however, in no way suggest that George doesn't want Barack Obama's intervention to relieve his grinding poverty. A man's effort to maintain his dignity should not be exploited to pretend that he doesn't want a helping hand.

When I posted on my AOL blog about George Obama last week, the Obama apologists could do no better than to say that Barack Obama doesn't owe his half-brother anything. But sibling assistance is not a matter of debt. Rather, it is a matter of family values and compassion. Obama has cited as his favorite Bible verse Jesus's statement: whatever you do to the least of my brothers that you do unto me. It seems that the Republican allegation that this man is full of pretense and empty words--in other words, a modern-day Pharisee--is more than justified.

Obama may not want to help his 26 year old half-brother, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't. I'm starting the George Obama Compassion Fund which has the goal of raising some money to help George Obama move out of his one-room hut. George also wants to become a mechanic and surely he could use some funds to get the training he needs to fulfill his humble aspirations. Currently George lives on a few dollars a month. Even a few thousand dollars would completely transform this man's life.

I'm putting up $1000 to get this fund started. I invite people to send me small contributions--$5, $10, $25, whatever you can spare. Send them to P.O. Box 3384, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067. Make your checks to "George Obama." I will then contact the Obama campaign and offer them the money on the condition that they forward it to George Obama in Kenya. The advantage of this approach is that not only does George Obama benefit from our generosity, but also Barack Obama can use the opportunity to improve his relationship with his half-brother. Let's foster Obama family values, and give a break to a guy who really needs it.
