Republican National Convention Speaker Lineup – Updated

Convention Watch:

For Now First Day of GOP Convention, Monday, Cancelled as Hurricane Approaches and the Re-Shuffled Schedule Won’t be Announced Until Sunday.

The Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th. Right now the roll call is scheduled for Tuesday to officially nominate Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Although at this point everything is open, including the rescheduling or cancelling the main speakers from Monday: South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Ann Romney and Gov. Chris Christie are still expected to speak on Tuesday. The silver lining… the Obama campaign has cancelled the unpopular overlapping trip by Vice President Joe Biden to Tampa.

One GOP Convention Session to be Themed “We Built That”

*As late at Friday afternoon, 8.24.12, the speakers’ line-up was being juggled, especially for Prime Time, so this may not be the final list or line-up.  It was leaked mid-weak that Donald Trump would be participating by video, that Newt Gingrich had been added to the speaker’s list and that the RNC was in discussions with Rep Ron Paul (TX).  Sarah Palin’s followers were/are also still hoping.  Governor Luis Fortuño (PR), still listed, was on the original list but now his wife is listed to speak, but Gov. Fortuño  (PR) has not been pulled.  So there may still be adjustments and surprises to come!?!  But it looks like a great line-up and should be a terrific convention!

**Just my opinion, but considering that the convention has been shortened, I would think that there is less of a chance that any unannounced speakers will be added, but rather that some will be cut.

And if anyone questions the bias of the media their coverage of the GOP Convention should settle it.  RNC chairman chides TV networks over convention programming:

ABC and CBS will each air one hour of prime time convention programming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights of both the Republican and Democratic conventions. NBC will mirror the other networks in coverage of the RNC, but at the DNC, will air one hour of primetime programming on Tuesday and two hours on Thursday.

But unlike the Democrats, who have no events on the Monday before their three-day convention, Republicans have four days of podium action and a full slate of speakers for Monday night. The networks are not taking any of that nights programming live in primetime.  CNN Promises 'Unbiased' Convention Coverage
