Over 2-Billion people are said to have watched the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton; approximately 1950 actually attend and the streets of London were lined with on-lookers.

Prince Charles Hosts Wedding Gala for Wils and KateThe question many have asked is why do Americans care about the Royals or the Royal Wedding and why, seemingly when Rome… ah America is burning, did more Americans watch the wedding than ever?

Why Americans and people around the world should care what the Royals in general and what Queen Elizabeth and the British Monarchy have done in the past, plus what Prince/King Charles and Prince/King William might do or be involved in, in the future, is a very long subject or list of subjects for another day!  (But it might be worth you doing some research on your own if you are interested or curious and don’t know much about history, present day politics and/or perhaps even prophecy!)

But as for the Prince William and Kate’s wedding, I believe that many people watched with delight because they wanted a break from the daily negativity and stress.  It was entertaining and for just a couple of hours or perhaps as long as a few days, people could escape into a fairytale.

There were also those who wanted to see a better ending or continuation to the Charles and Diana story.

Almost every little girl wants to be a princess and every big girl wants to find her prince.  So for a little while many Americans, even me who is very up on history, politics and out of the box possibilities, turned off the reality switch and watched the ‘Wedding of the Century” as it was billed, from the perspective that just maybe dreams do come true and that there is hope for the world to be a better place than our more rational minds believe.

A Priest (actually a Verger) at Westminster Abbey was so excited after the Royal Wedding Friday, he was caught on camera doing cartwheels down the aisle.
