I like Gloria... but this time ? She has gone way off the deep end....including calling Meg Whitman a liar.
Am I wrong?
[By the way, Gloria Allred will be ON THE RECORD at 10pm tonight. Tune in and watch!]
Below (first still pic) is what Gloria Allred thinks is the "smoking gun" in the Meg Whitman/illegal housekeeper story.....I agree with Gloria that it could be the "smoking gun" but draw a completely different conclusion. I don't know how Gloria arrives at her conclusion. It hurts her client, it does not help.
On the letter (see pic below) Meg Whitman's husband writes "Nicky [the housekeeper], please check on this." I conclude from this handwritten note by the husband that he and his wife, Meg Whitman, did not have a clue there was a problem (check on this?) and referred it to the housekeeper to figure it out as she is the one with knowledge. I suspect the issue was ignored by the housekeeper and that for the busy couple the matter then got lost in the shuffle. I don't see an INTENT to evade or avoid the law.
And here is another thing: the letter has THE HUSBAND's handwriting on it. The husband is not running for Governor. Meg Whitman's handwriting is not on it. Is there any information to suggest that Meg Whitman knew about it? You can't just assign this to her.
Gloria goes way out on this one (watch video)... calling Meg Whitman a liar and her client (who was and may still be illegally in this country) the Rosa Parks of Latinos. [By the way, I would not loosely throw around the Rosa Parks reference as Gloria does at the end of this video. Rosa Parks was a hero....there are few - almost none - in history that have been so heroic as Rosa Parks.]
If this photo doesn’t look like a publicity stunt… then I don’t know what!?!~
Sean Hannity had an interesting chummy photo on his show tonight showing Gloria Allred with CA Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown… It’s looking more and more like a leftist campaign smear tactic to me… and everyone I hear with a brain. Former practicing attorney Greta Van Susteren skewered Allred with irrefutable logic tonight on her show. Greta did a great job and Allred looked bad and like a schemer!
CUPERTINO - This afternoon, the New York Post's Capital Punishment blog posted an entry highlighting the absurdity of the allegations that Meg Whitman is a hypocrite on immigration because of her past employment of Nicky Diaz Santillan. The blog entry points out that Meg went through all the proper channels in hiring Mrs. Santillan and acted in accordance with the law when it became clear that Mrs. Santillan's status in this country was not legal. Read the blog entry below.
New York Post's Capital Punishment Blog: There Is No Meg Whitman-Housekeeper Scandal
Abby Wisse Schachter
The Republican candidate for governor of California, Meg Whitman, is looking at a lot of bad press because she employed a housekeeper who lied about her immigration status. Whitman and her husband hired the housekeeper through an agency that provided documentation, including a social security number, driver's license and I-9 form as proof the woman was a legal U.S. resident. In June of last year when Whitman discovered that the woman who had worked for her for nine years had lied to the agency and to her, she consulted her attorney and terminated her.
Whitman is being attacked by her political opponents for supposed double talk and hypocrisy because she has argued in favor of tougher enforcement of immigration laws. But what exactly is the scandal here?
Whitman was lied to by her employee and by the agency that provided documentation of the employee's legal status. When she discovered the lie, she determined that the legal course of action was to terminate the employee and that's what she did.
Whitman's actions are consistent with her position on illegal immigration in that she's argued that the federal government must come down on employers who hire illegal workers. Well, she fired the illegal worker in her employ so what is the hypocrisy?
By the way, at her press conference, Whitman described the conditions under which Nicandra Diaz Santillan was employed.
"Whitman said Diaz Santillan worked about 15 hours a week and was paid $23 an hour." The minimum wage in California is $8 an hour. No wonder Diaz Santillan didn't want to look into her false Social Security number, why would anyone want to mess with such a well-paying job, especially when you have no legal right to it?
What should happen here is that Gloria should be investigated, Jerry Brown should lose and Nicky should be deported!
Mark Levin Grills Gloria Allred On Illegal Immigrant Client
Earlier this evening, conservative radio host and friend of NewsBusters Mark Levin conducted a nearly 20-minute interview with Gloria Allred, a celebrity attorney who's also known for her liberal politics.
Allred is representing one Nicky Diaz, an illegal immigrant who worked as a housekeeper for California Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman. Allred alleges Whitman employed Diaz knowing that she was an illegal immigrant. Whitman denies the allegation and says she fired Diaz after learning that she was an illegal.
