Border Agents Revolt Against ICE Director
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents believe overwhelmingly that their department leadership has become so politicized as to compromise the effectiveness of ICE and the safety of American people. Their union has released a letter announcing its recent unanimous “vote of no confidence” in ICE agency heads, accusing them of “misleading the American public” regarding illegal immigration in order to further a pro-amnesty agenda.
In June, the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council — an AFL-CIO affiliate — and affiliated local councils cast a unanimous 259-0 vote of no confidence in ICE Director John Morton and Assistant Director Phyllis Coven. In a letter announcing the vote, the National Council criticized the directors for “misguided and reckless initiatives,” and said their leaders have “abandoned the Agency’s core mission of enforcing United States immigration laws and providing for public safety, and have instead directed their attention to campaigning for policies and programs related to amnesty.”
Janice Kephart at the Center for Immigration Studies has the letter, which includes several biting indictments of ICE failures by ICE agents. For instance:
Senior ICE leadership dedicates more time to campaigning for immigration reforms aimed at large scale amnesty legislation, than advising the American public and Federal lawmakers on the severity of the illegal immigration problem, and the need for more manpower and resources within the ICE ERO to address it. ICE ERO is currently overwhelmed by the massive criminal alien problem in the United States resulting in the large-scale release of criminals back into local communities. Read more...

The Amnesty Memo… And Some Other Interesting Twist
By: Robert VerBruggen - NRO – The Corner
According to an internal U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services memo going the rounds of Capitol Hill and obtained by National Review, the agency is considering ways in which it could enact “meaningful immigration reform absent legislative action” — that is, without the consent of the American people through a vote in Congress.
“This memorandum offers administrative relief options to . . . reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization,” it reads.
Also: “In the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, USCIS can extend benefits and/or protections to many individuals and groups by issuing new guidance and regulations, exercising discretion with regard to parole-in-place, deferred action and the issuance of Notices to Appear (NTA), and adopting significant process improvements.”
In recent weeks, Sen. Chuck Grassley and others in Congress have been pressing the administration to disavow rumors that a de facto amnesty is in the works, including in a letter to Department of Homeland Security head Janet Napolitano. “Since the senators first wrote to the president more than a month ago, we have not been reassured that the plans are just rumors, and we have every reason to believe that the memo is legitimate,” a Grassley spokesman tells NR. (NR contacted DHS, but a spokesman did not have a comment on the record.) Full Article Here

Multiple-DUI Illegal Alien Kills Nun, Feds Release Him (UPDATE-2 [Video])
by Jared Law
Another day, another multiple-felon Illegal Alien who has invaded our nation commits murder or manslaughter against an innocent American citizen...this is getting pretty old.
While we know we can count on the Obama regime to callously ignore the death and destruction of Americans and our property by illegal aliens who proved with their mode of entry that they have no respect for our laws, we should expect our law enforcement and our lawmakers, as well as Governors, to uphold the law, uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and to defend us from cold-blooded killers who have illegally invaded our country:
The thing is that when someone gets behind a vehicle when they're drunk as a skunk, they are willfully choosing to endanger everybody on the road. What's worse, this illegal alien has has multiple DUI arrests, and has been reported to the Feds, but the feds have refused to do their duty. Call it sedition, call it treason, whatever it is, it's morally reprehensible, and we MUST hold them to account. WE MUST REGAIN THE HOUSE AND SENATE ON NOVEMBER 02, 2010!!
America is a sacred land of liberty. We will be held accountable before God as to how we discharged our DUTY to restore America, to stand as watchmen on the tower. It really is up to us to be Watchmen on the Tower, to warn when the enemies are coming to destroy. Even though there are more czars than most of us can keep track of, we need to do our best to keep up on this stuff, and to warn our peers! If we don't do it, who will? If not now, when they are nearly upon us, when?
We're up on the tower, we can see them, they're almost upon us, ready to destroy, and we MUST warn, we must awaken MORE of our friends, relatives, and other "neighbors!"
How many of you have walked through your neighborhood, and made a calling list of all of your friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, church congregation members, etc. and called them all? Have you INVITED them to join us here on The 9.12 Project Network? Have you actively searched out new opportunities to introduce people to your local Tea Party or 9.12 Project group? Have you invited them to watch and/or listen to Glenn Beck on the TV and the Radio? Have you invited them to read The 5,000 Year Leap? Hopefully, all of us have been doing all of the above.
Don't forget local and state races; we MUST ensure we're electing the RIGHT people to offices, great and small, from the local school board and town mayor or city council to your state Senator and Representative!
Here's the story:

Illegal immigrant who killed nun in accident was released by feds
Carlos A. Martinelly Montano, a mulitple DUI offender, has been charge with killing a nun and injuring two more in a drunk driving accident Sunday morning. (Provided by Prince William County Police)
By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - 4:23 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010
The man suspected of drunken driving and killing a Catholic nun in Prince William County this weekend is an illegal immigrant who was awaiting deportation and who federal immigration authorities had released pending further proceedings, police said Monday.
The man, Carlos Montano, a county resident, had been arrested by police twice before on drunk-driving charges, and on at least one of those occasions county police reported him to federal authorities.
"We have determined that he is in the country illegally. He has been arrested by Prince William County Police in the past," said Officer Jonathan Perok, a police spokesman, who said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified at the time of one of those arrests.
Officer Perock said Montano was in deportation proceedings at the time of this weekend's killing, but was out on his own recognizance.
A call to ICE was not immediately returned, but the incident raises questions about the agency's policy of only detaining some illegal immigrants awaiting deportation, while releasing others.
The latest ICE statistics show the agency is actually detaining fewer people now on an average daily basis than they did in 2009.
The Sunday morning crash killed Sister Denise Mosier and injured two other nuns as they were driving to a retreat at the Benedictine Monastery in Bristow, Va. The two injured nuns were in critical but stable condition, according to St. Gertrude High School in Richmond, run by the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia.
