Sarah Palin Won’t Rule Out Run for Senate

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin declined to rule out a bid for the Senate if Sen. Ted Stevens wins re-election and is expelled or resigns.

Republican Stevens was convicted last month on seven felony counts. He trails Democrat Mark Begich in the ongoing vote count, but if he does win and then leaves the Senate, Palin would be able to call a special election within 60 to 90 days.

She said she would consider running if she believes Alaskans want to send her to Washington, according to Roll Call.

“I just don’t want to close any doors at this point,” she said on Sunday.

Palin also used the “door” metaphor last week when discussing a possible run for the White House in 2012 or 2016, saying:

“If there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door.”
